Like this mod? Good with graphic design? I would be extremely grateful if I could get some support for custom images/logos for my mods as I am AWFUL with such things! Please let me know via PM!

Deadmano, would you give me the link to the Vault-Girl user interface you're using? Mine doesn't look that much like Vault-Girl. The NV version looks a lot like yours. I mean, just the Notification part of the user interface. (Neck is way too long. And, emotions look a little weird.) Here; the one i'm using. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/17054/?

Hey!! Festive greetings! Sorry for the delayed response, I was on holiday!

What exactly is different in mine? Would you be able to show me a comparison, yours vs. mine? I know a few months back I was heavily editing the game to be more female-friendly for my fiancé, so as a result I may have edited the notification images as if I recall correctly they are all part of a single sheet of textures. So I would copy/paste the image from the notification icons and place them on said sheet.

It was probably to keep consistency, as some of them weren't the same as others. Though I may be wrong!

I do, yes! And a ton more, such as the "discovered" location messages. I am just busy with a bunch of updates for TWPC but then I will release a major update both here and for my other mods!

Hey esir! I am assuming you are referring to my The Wasteland Patch Collection mod? As you haven't downloaded IFPM yet, hehehe. I will at some point be making a patch, I tested something yesterday and was able to get ironsights working on some weapons, however it will still need mesh edits which I cannot do as of yet... So perhaps in conjunction with someone else we can make something work. But stay tuned for more on that, on the correct mod page.

Expect the first draft of me re-writing the first-person messages for the Vanilla game to be released within this week still!

In the meanwhile, why don't you give my other newly released mod some love?

Essential Quest Givers anyone? Be sure you're tracking me if you aren't already as there is more to come in the essentials department.

I have completed DLC support, however The Nexus seems to be having an issue with uploads today... So please be sure to check back later today or tomorrow and hopefully the issue is resolved! Else just track the mod (if you haven't already) and as soon as the files are uploaded you can grab them!

I will also be releasing a GOTY version with the vanilla and DLC files combined, so as to lessen your plugin count if you do have all 5 DLCs.

Finally I was able to upload the DLC versions, guys! Sorry about that, it seems that the uploading is quite weird, sometimes it fails, sometimes it doesn't! And this isn't about file size either, as we are talking about tiny 1-2KB files, LOL! Anyhow, there is also a Complete version that has ALL the DLCs as well as the vanilla messages covered, cuts down your plugin count from 6 down to 1, use if you have the GOTY version of the game! Will still offer the loose DLC files for those who don't have all the DLCs.

I like it! Interesting and more friendly. Instead of the game saying things that sound so demanding, this mod replaces that with nice things. It is very nice. I hope there is going to be a future version for some DLC, even though it may not need it. Vanilla truly does need it. (No GOTY but own pt. lookout and broken steel) I love little mods like this that changes the horrible things into nice things, you get a +1 from me! This is definitely a keeper. You should have a mod options in game (Like the apparel section for IMAGINATOR settings) with a few of the Vault Boy icons from the perks. Example: RadChild perk face and sneering imperialist. Just the unique faces.(If possible to port over to fallout 3). Just a options menu that has a option that lets you choose the face icon that pops up in notifications in-game. (Hope you know what I mean). It would be great if this was a thing! Good luck!

Hey VikingWarrior2 and thank you for your kind words and endorsement!!

I am really glad you are enjoying the mod so far, and hopefully by tomorrow or Friday I will be releasing DLC support!! I am glad to hear there are still people who don't own the entire GOTY, and as such I will take that into consideration and release the DLCs as optionals as well so you can mix and match what you want.

Regarding your request, it would definitely be possible to replace the notification icons with other icons if I did it via a plugin file, though via an ingame menu item I am not sure if said item can actually set textures whilst ingame and change them accordingly, or at least I haven't seen that option yet. If you have an outline of what exactly you would like you could PM me and I can make you a custom plugin file? That would be the easiest and not require an ingame item to configure for such a small thing! Let me know.

No need for a plug-in file, but thank you very much for the offer, you must have alot on your hands, no need . You can do whatever you want with my idea, I just put out something that would be a pretty nice future idea point . A notification icon replacement is a much better way of putting it. Sorry I cannot be so active with this mod, I just got back to school, and have little to no time to post D:. I really thank you for the reply, and the DLC update that you're going to release! I'll definitely download it. I'll be sure to contact you in the future for later concerns, and about my idea: I have a very rough idea of what I want to see. this would be a great accessory for later developments of this mod. Thank you for this cool mod. Hope to be in touch with you soon!

      Hey Sean,

If it is a straight-forward icon replacement, that is easy to do as you need to only replace the .dds files for them and on the shared interface. If you have the icons you want to use in a suitable format you can send them to me via PM and I can put something together for you. If you use MO then it can be sort of modular as you can have different profiles, one with the texture replacement for the notifications, and one without... If you haven't seen my other mod already, you should check it out, which replaces the default Pip Boy to a Pip Girl:

Complete Vault Girl Interface Descriptive Icons For Fallout 3

Otherwise there is also Vault Meat.

Doesn't really make sense that it changed "you" to "I" in the VATS manual, since it's... well a manual.

Good point, Mortaldieox! This was a rather quick release so I can get everything I needed in place for the main work to begin! A simple fix, as with the others and it is great I am getting this feedback! I was conflicted, as to me if I am reading it, perhaps I am reading it to myself so when I say "I" or "My" it is as if I am reading it, no? Then again, I did leave quite a few of the load screens as they were information written by others and since this was written by Vault-Tec I guess it would make sense in that case, unless anyone else has another idea! Either way, I will add this and other changes in an update coming very soon!

Just wanted to let you and others know v1.1 removes the Tutorial, Help and Load Screen messages from the main file, as these are completely optional and can be downloaded and installed as such. At some point once I'm happy with and covered everything I will look at combo editions that merge the optionals I will be bringing out. Any ideas/suggestions please do share.

I did keep some tutorial messages as I feel they are still relevant, such as the message:

"You should get your stuff from your desk before you leave."

      I left as:

"I should get my stuff from my desk before I leave."

Let me know what you all think!

I think it would be better if you left the tutorial messages alone (in 2nd person rather than 1st person.) To me it breaks immersion since it's the game telling me how to do things rather than my character thinking that. How does my character know that there's a compass above their head or that to enter VATS they need to press V on the keyboard?

It's a fantastic idea and I'm surprised that in the time Fallout 3 was out no one has done this yet. Kudos!

Hey XxThisIsIvanxX and thank you for stopping by and giving my mod a try!

This is actually something that has been bothering me, amongst a few other things (see my main page description for what my "ideal" dialogue would look like. Since this is just a direct 2nd person to 1st person quick edit I hadn't thought much into it as my plan is to redo each and every message (including the tutorial messages) to completely remove the sense of playing a game and finding new ways to incorporate the otherwise mechanical identifiers like Keyboard, Mouse, etc.

Do you (or anyone else) have a suggestion as to how we can go about this? I have an idea more or less, for example with the mouse, instead of "move the mouse to control your character" or what have you, I could have it say "I can turn my head to view things" or something such (I just made this up on the spot) as we all (hopefully) know that you view things with your mouse, and WASD to move around...

Right now, seeing game mechanics explained breaks my immersion of actually BEING the character. I want to try and remove the presence of actually playing a game, and rather experiencing it. Perhaps this can be another optional file AKA "total immersion".

If you would prefer game mechanics and tutorials being in 2nd person rather than 1st then I can respect that decision and release an optional for that, let me know! Or if you have any ideas on how we can make this work I will add them to my own and mix something up!

If you're going for that complete immersive experience then I would recommend a module that completely removes the tutorial messages (like the VATS or lockpicking popups) and the messages that appear in the top corner (like *press this button to get this action*) kind of stuff. It kinda doesn't make sense that your character would remind them self how to walk or move their head, unless your character has a really low intelligence lol

Also another idea is to rephrase the karma messages (or get rid of it entirely) in a way that makes them reflect on them self (can't think of anything on the spot.) Although that could get pretty redundant if they say the same thing over and over whenever they're stealing a bunch of objects.

Great idea! I will definitely look into this once I get the core down, both the lore-friendly version with full DLC support and my preferred version with DLC support! Then I can definitely play around with optionals and mod support!

Regarding karma messages, I believe those are quite nice to have simply to know when you have done something wrong, but then again you would often know if you did. Stealing from someone? Check. Murdering someone? Check. Hahaha. I believe FWE already disables karma messages so there is that... I will have to see what options I have. I just need to take some time to put plans together, get into the mindset of actually being in the game, and not watching a character perform my actions then things should flow!

If you have any further ideas/suggestions please do feel free to share them with me!

I need your help with deciding on features that should or shouldn't be touched by IFPM as well as how they are released! Please help me out by filling out the following polls based on your decision to help me understand what the general consensus is!

    Loading Screens (Yes/No/Optiona/Modular): http://strawpoll.me/5445660
    Quest Objectives (Yes/No/Optiona/Modular): http://strawpoll.me/5445651

Instructions: Simply click on both links, and answer the question with two of the four answers. Either 1st person (you and your becomes I and my) or 2nd person, which leaves the feature as is without touching it. Then the release options, which are either Optional, so the entire mod will be included with as an optional download, or a Modular file so you get the main file + any optionals + the modular files that add this extra feature.

The main reason for all of this is I don't want to force anything on anyone, just because I enjoy it doesn't necessarily mean everyone else will.

Hey guys!! I just want to let you know I am going to be quite active on this mod as I consider it essential for my own playthrough, and that of my fiancée. Please report any issues you do find, though I am hoping to keep those down to a minimum, or better yet; none!

The current version is merely a lore-friendly replacer, changing the notification and loadscreen messages from 2nd person to 1st person. However this won't be my main file, as I plan to redo each and every message in my own articulate way, with of course a special touch! This includes fixing irregularities as well as making the messages seem more immersive and informative. I will however keep the lore-friendly version as an optional and update it as often as I can.

So in short, don't be afraid to grab this file and use it as is, there are no issues and the entire base game is covered. Furthermore, as soon as an update is released or I bring out my "preferred" version you are able to remove the old and install the new without any issues!! Completely safe and no strain on your saves!

DLC support will be following soon, along with support for popular mods. Requests welcome! Please be sure to track the mod, or me, to be informed of updates and changes to not only this mod but my others as well!
