This DLL is supposed to fix the crash on new game. Im running a GeForce GTX 880M (Nvidias latest Laptop GPU) and windows 8 and it seams fine to me. It doesn't downgrade the Graphics or anything. thats weird that it does it. try it without the DLL and see if that helps.
Try making a new game without the dll and see if it crashes or not
Are you sure this is needed with the current patched version of FO3? I don't have that dll file and I have not experienced any new game crashes with the Steam GOTY version. Marconiex is running off the original disks and he reports no problems. Try running your game without the dll.
Im not sure if its needed now because before I had the disc version and was experiencing CTD at a new game on my windows 7 machine but a couple months ago I bought the GOTY steam version and installed it and the DLL just as a precausion. as both my computers have Nvidia Cards. It was supposed to I think fix the CTD for nvidia cards on new game. If I where you I would move the dll from my mod to another directory like the desktop and test the game out. (I will as well)

I needed to load "Games for Windows Live". the game needed to see I had it installed on my computer. i didn't need to run it just have it loaded on my computer. That's all i need to get the game running. I edited the ini files so the game would use two cores instead of just one.
shockingly, this dll just wworked on my Win 10 after nothing else seemed to work. used the compatability with win xp SP3, made sure my config files had bUseThreadedAI=1, and iNumHWThreads=2 properly set. had to do it all from a clean install following this guide to get me there. not sure if having the unofficial patch installed through vortex helped, or enabling 3G RAM, but both of those steps had already been taken and the DLL was the final trick. havent gone past the character creation menu because I need to activate FOSE and Command extender, but wanted to give a modern update to anyone else trying to run Fallout 3 GOTY in 2023...
Yes, I know this thread is old. I just want report my experience. I have FO3 original physical media. patched to 1.7. I have One Tweak, NV anticrash, tick fix, stewie tweaks, mod limit remover, command extender, 4gb enabled, LOD Gen is done, all exe`s compatabity mode Vista SP 2 and Admin rights, A few .ini tweaks, (got info from New Cali Mod page) running on Win 10. NOT using this mod. Maybe 40? mods. I also used Ordinator (loose texture file) optimizer and I also used BSArch to remove the slow zlib compression from the textures.bsa. I have never had my game run any smoother, than with this setup. I hope this info helps someone. EDIT: I have an old Gforce 9800 GT 512mb. 4gb system memory, AMD dual core, SSD. No stutters, frame drops, glitches, nothing, perfect.

this is a good mod works correctly on the steam version and gets the game working but i use the gog version now and do not need it i would recommend this mod
