About this mod

Changes the furniture and decoration of the Megaton house and replaces the themes with a modular upgrade system similiar to the one in TES4 Oblivion.

Tenpenny Version: Boilers Tenpenny Suite

I don’t like the vanilla Megaton house. Not because of its size or layout, but because of the furnishing and themes. No matter what theme you use it looks either cramped, chaotic or downright ugly (or all at once). And the storage is a bad joke. There are too few containers to sort your stuff properly and they are all over the place instead of grouped together or where it would actually make sense to have storage. I don’t know, maybe it’s because I’m working as a warehouse manager that this bothers me so much.

Anyway, complaining doesn’t change anything, so I sat down and refurnished the Megaton house from scratch myself. I got rid of all the themes and instead implemented a modular upgrade system like the one in Oblivion. So you can’t buy any themes for your house but you have to buy furniture, storage, decoration and some of the vanilla stuff in several packages. With all upgrades bought you will have a organized, efficient, well spaced and cozy house (see pictures). The upgrades are bought at Craterside Supply.

When you first get the house it will already have:
- kitchen area with fridge, oven and a small cabinet hanging on the wall
- bedroom with well rested bed and a footlocker
- metal shelves
- a safe in the wall beneath the stairs
- wooden sideboard to the side of the stairs
- a complete bathroom with sink, bathtub and toilet
- a respawning trash bin (using the global respawn timer)
- the bobblehead stand

So you’re good to go without buying anything if you don’t have enough money yet.

Yes, you now also have to buy Wadsworth. So all those of you who don’t like him, well, just don’t buy him ;-)

There is very little clutter included in these packages. So if you want plates, pans, pots, glasses, cups, mugs, hot plates, paper weights, pencils, clipboards and whatever to further decorate your house, go out and scavenge the wasteland ;-) I greatly recommend the DCInteriors mod with its many collectible items as it will provide you with tons of stuff to decorate your house.

On the outside of the house I extended the platform it is standing on so there is now sort of a large balcony overlooking megaton. I believe it fits nicely into the town without looking out of place. And it sure as hell is a nice place to spend your evening after a long day exploring the wasteland.

The mod also disposes of the bit of wall extending inward from the town wall blocking the straight path between the Megaton entrance and your house. So now you can walk more or less in a straight line from your house to the town gate. For that purpose i also added some wooden planks and a stair as a path to walk on.

Please report any issues or bugs you may have with this mod so I can fix them.

Ideas for future updates:
- maybe adding a balcony on the second floor

Compatibility:

This only works if you didn’t start the “Power of the Atom” Quest yet!

It changes the following cells and scripts:
- Megaton Player House Interior
- Megaton Craterside Supply Interior / MerchRef Container
- Megaton City Entrance Exterior
- Megaton City Plaza Exterior
- Megaton02 Exterior
- HD01 Quest Script

All containers (even the oven) used inside the house are unique to this mod. So there is no conflict with container changing mods (like respawn mods for example).

Installation:

Unpack the File and drop it in your Fallout3/Data folder. Check it under "Data Files" in the Fallout3 launcher or FOMM.

Disclaimer:

You can use the mod or any parts of it for your own projects. Just be sure to credit me.

As with all my mods I made this mainly for myself. I just share it here because I feel that it might be interesting for other players too. But this means I will not alter it unless I see the need for it. I’m open for any suggestions though as you might have some good ideas to improve it. But I will not implement or change something I don’t deem necessary.
