WTF! Not another player house for f*#k sake!

Yes, yes, I know there are a million and one wasteland residences here on the Nexus so this one will slip quietly into the foggy morass that is player housing. This is actually the first mod I ever created, though I have upgraded and added to it throughout my time playing and modding Fallout. By first mod I mean first substantial creation; I made a million and one personal game tweaks and changes before creating this mod but I don't consider changing a value or two in FO3Edit a mod, and personally think the Nexus should have a separate category strictly for those 'game tweak mods' but that is a separate rant and I digress.

Like I said, this has been rattling around my mod list for almost as long as I’ve been playing FO3 and I just never released it because of the massive amount of housing already available to players. I first tried many of those Megaton house mods and was never satisfied with one aspect or another of these dwellings which is what inspired me to make my own residence with the features I wanted.

So here are some of the main features of this house:

1) There are no themes! I have never used and never will use the lame themes offered in the vanilla game because I always found them extremely weak. All they basically do is clutter up the house with debris and common objects. I’ve always brought back items to my house and decorated it the way I wanted. So no themes!

2) You still must purchase all the additional special items from Moira. The Nuka machine, Jukebox, Infirmary, Chemistry Lab and Workbench all are bought from Craterside Supply as you normally would, because how else are you going to spend the plethora (cool word!) of caps you obtain adventuring around the wasteland. (This has issues with previous saves, may not work correctly without a new playthru)

3) Exterior of the house actually matches the interior!! This was always a big pet-peev of mine with many of the modded houses I tried. They offered a huge interior with basements and expanded living area but the outside view never changed. Immersion breaking IMHO.

4) Expanded living area. Though the open feeling interior looks much larger, it actually is only slightly larger than the original house, I just used the space more efficiently. There are no loading doors to walk through (another peev of mine), the entire area is accessible upon entering the house. I tried hard to keep the original feel of megaton and the house itself because that is how I like my mods to play. This house is foremost a living space for the player with all that entails, a comfortable, ergonomic area with a living room, kitchen, bedroom, work area, bathroom, etc...

5) Extra storage. Though I didn't use even half of it, In the back of my mind I always planned on releasing this mod because there is a lot of storage space.

6) Some other items of note are a washer and dryer, some unique posters and paintings, the regular bobbleheads display (working as intended in all its ugly glory), a retextured motorcycle, modest display area for unique weapons and armor (or whatever), a balcony overlooking Megaton and some unique clutter items to add a bit of flavor.

7) Almost forgot because I have literally never had him in my home, but there is no Wadsworth. So no glasses of free purified water, no teeth-grinding cheerful greetings every time you get within 5 feet of him, no changing your haircut every week, no terrible jokes repeated over and over, and most importantly that hunk of annoying metal is not constantly in your way. That being said, if enough of you simply MUST have him I can add him back in another version (though for the life of me I wouldn't understand why).

Requirements:
==============

Fallout 3

==============
Install:
==============

1. Download the MegatonPlayerhouseRedux archive to a secure location.

2. Extract the files from the archive. It contains the Mal_Playerhouse.esp, a Meshes folder and a Textures folder.

3. Copy the files to your "[DRIVE]:[INSTALL PATH]\Fallout 3\Data\" folder.

4. Open your Fallout 3 Launcher (or mod manager - i.e. - FOMM), place a checkmark beside the.esp file and run the game.

5. Load order: Can be placed pretty much anywhere below the .esm's, though if you have a mod that makes changes to the Megaton world you may have to place below that mod.

6. Enjoy the improved Megaton house as part of your game play!

==============
Un-Install:
==============

1. Open your Fallout 3 Launcher (or mod manager), and uncheck the Mals_Playerhouse file.

2. Delete the Mals_Playerhouse file.

==============
Compatibility:
==============

Obviously this is not compatible with any other megaton player houses. There are also a few modifications around the immediate exterior of the house so there could be issues with any mod that makes changes to the megaton world space.

==============
Bugs/Issues:
==============

No known issues at this point. I have used this mod extensively myself (4-5 playthroughs) and never had any problems. Since each load order is unique, please let me know if you find any and I will do my best to help you with them.

==============
To Do:
==============

Like my other mods, I had bigger plans and expansions in mind for this mod. I actually have a huge underground military base that attaches to the basement of this house which started out as an escape tunnel exiting outside Megaton (not in this release). I had plans to have certain items in the house appear after finishing quests, like having the trees appear after finishing 'Oasis' or the Prime statue after you finish 'Take it Back'.
However, to be honest none of that is going to happen. I’ve been playing and modding FO3 for over a year and am moving on to other games. If there are issues or problems with this mod I will fix them but there will be no other content added to this house in the future.
