"Sword of Spite" for Fallout 3
For those who know me, this is one of my crazy creations that go beyond the scope of what any sane person can imagine. It's "only" a sword, but a special one with a glaring purple color; now if the first thing on your mind is "this sounds like crap", just don't use this mod. But if you're an open-minded person, you can use this mod to add a purple, two-handed sword to your game. Yes I know, the weapon grip is screwed up. Your character will hold the sword with two hands even though the model is a one-handed sword (the chinese officer sword from the original game, retextured), and if you take a look at where the hands go, you will think I'm a crazy guy. But nonetheless, this is one of my published mods because some people might like it. Of course it's also a modder's resource, meaning you don't have to use it the way it is - feel free to do whatever you want! If you want to change the animation back to a one-handed sword, go ahead. You can use this in your own mod, change all the values by using the GECK and so on.
*UPDATE* Version 1.1: Some people wanted different colors, so I added nine different colors to this mod. Read on to see where to get them.
To install: Copy the contents of this zip folder to your Fallout3\data directory, use some sort of mod manager to make sure "swordofspite.esp" is an active file, and if you didn't already do so for another mod, run some sort of archive invalidation tool (I'd recommend doing a search for ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated!). That's it, now you're ready to go!
This mod should be compatible with everything since it doesn't change any existing data. It only adds some swords to the game and places them in the world. But if you want to be on the safe side, place it at the top of your loading list :-)
Okay, so I'm gonna tell you the important stats (especially important to those who don't know how to mod):
- To find it, go to the Rivet City armory and either pick the lock on the door or steal the key from Harkness or Danvers by pickpocketing them. Remember, you can save prior to attempting a pickpocketing, so if you fail, just load your save game and try again until you're successful.
- The sword has a high attack speed but does low damage; critical hits do a lot more damage so if you have any way to increase your critical hit chance, doing so will make the sword much more effective.
- The sword uses your "sneak" skill to determine its real damage, so if you want to make good use of it, don't push your melee weapons skill but put points into your sneak skill instead!
- Stats:
Damage per second: 34
Damage per swing: 8
Attacks per second: 4.2857
Weight: 3
Item health: 840
Range: 1 (same as chinese officers sword, lead pipe, super sledge and power fist)
Critical hit multiplier: 2
Critical hit damage bonus: 10
Action point cost per hit: 32
Value (in caps): 75
Can be repaired with: Chinese Officers swords
Where to find the versions with other colors? Here's where you have to go...
Black: Wheaton Armory, on a table behind a locked door.
Blue: Our Lady of Hope Hospital, on a table.
Cyan: Hubris Comics Printing, on the floor in Johnny Wes' room.
Gray: Capitol Post office, on the floor next to Gibson's corpse.
Green: Takoma Park car dealership, on a table.
Orange: Oasis Sunken Chambers, on the floor next to a bed.
Pink: LOB Enterprises office, on a shelf.
Red: Vault 87, on a shelf in Fawkes' cell.
Yellow: Evergreen Mills bazaar, on a shelf next to Smiling Jack.
That's it, now go ahead and bash some deathclaws with my sword :-)
