Bunker 8
Story ====================== After finally completing your new bunker you leave to go get more supplies. Your trip took longer than expected and on your return you find some unwelcome visitors have overrun your bunker... It seems they bypassed your bunker defenses by entering through the back door. That will need to be fixed. :) Clear it out to reclaim what is yours!
Description / Location ====================== Bunker 8 adds your own personal underground bunker to Springvale. This bunker is medium sized. The main entrance is a manhole next to a mail drop box located in the back of Springvale Elementary School. A secondary entrance is located not to far away in a fenced off toxic waste dump. I would not suggest using this entrance for many reasons. It is there mostly for amusement purposes. (You will understand once you have explored Bunker 8 through the front door) :)
I have spent a good deal of time making this bunker seem realistic and visually appealing adding a lot of detail and a few Easter eggs. :)
I want to make Bunker 8 a top-notch mod and would be honored if you used it as your home base. Any suggestions and / or constructive criticism are welcome and appreciated. Please also endorse Bunker 8 if you have enjoyed using it.
Features ====================== - Fully Nav Meshed manually to make this companion / AI friendly. - Lots of eye candy. - Working reactor. - Working light switches once the reactor has been turned on. - Working terminals that unlock doors and safes and also some important data. - Working turrets. - Your very own working Gearware PC! - Trader / Repairer NPC "Aki Ross" from the movie "Final Fantasy - The Spirits Within" (Nobody I talk too seems to like this movie, I thought it was awesome, ohh well...) - A Clean water supply. - Beds to sleep on. - Well-stocked kitchen. - Working infirmary. - Working laboratory. - Well-stocked armory. (If you feel this is cheating just don’t pick up the ammo or weapons. I personally do not pick any of it up, as I like to see my armory fully stocked) - A Shooting range. (Great place to store all those unneeded tin cans for you non-tradeskillers) - Mail drop box outside near main entrance for quick storage without zoning in. - Lots of non-re-spawning containers for storage. - A handful of useful re-spawning containers include:
Laboratory: Small Energy Cell Ammunition Box Scrap Metal Box Tin Can Box (I love trade skills in games so I wanted to make this mod interesting to fellow tradeskillers by adding some helpful re-spawning containers.)
Infirmary: Bunker First Aid Box
Janitor's Room: Lock Pick Box
If you feel this is cheating just don't use these containers.
DO NOT store items in these containers or you will loose them when they re-spawn.
All containers not listed DO NOT re-spawn and are safe from five-finger discounts by any AI.
Hints ====================== - I have included a few small Easter eggs... a new food item, a few hidden weapons, something edible that should not be eaten, possibly more... - Some doors require keys. If you can't find the needed keys you can hack into the Bunker 8 mainframe to get their locations.
Install ====================== 1. Unzip or copy the "Bunker8.esp" file to your "\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data" install folder. 2. On the Fallout 3 load screen select "DATA FILES" and check the box for "Bunker8.esp" then click "OK". 3. Click "PLAY".
Uninstall ====================== 1. Remove any items or companions you have placed in Bunker 8 and move them outside the cell. 2. Save your game. 3. Remove the "Bunker8.esp" from your "\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data" install folder.
History ====================== v1.0 12/13/2010 - Initial release.
Compatibility ====================== Bunker 8 should not conflict with any other mod unless it makes changes to the Springvale Elementary School exterior. I have added two manhole entrances leading to Bunker 8 and one mail dropbox for quick storage, all located behind the school. Those are the only modifications outside the Bunker 8 cell.
No Fallout 3 objects are replaced or moved by this mod. It is a pet peeve of mine to load a mod only to gain floating rocks and trees and / or to see unintentionally moved doors or walls in areas not even part of the mod...sloppy... I have made sure to the best of my ability that this does not happen with Bunker 8. I have also cleaned Bunker 8 with FO3 Edit to verify this, though I am for sure not a FO3 Edit pro.
Known Issues or Bugs ====================== - Lights can only be toggled on / off when the reactor is on but do not turn off automatically when the reactor is turned off. - Some very minor pathing / AI issues with the unwelcome visitors in your bunker. They just don’t like to be told what to do it seems. :) - Aki Ross will sometimes go chase after the unwelcome visitors even though she doesn't have LOS (line of sight) on them and isn't even near them.. (I'm not sure I will ever be able to make the NPC or creatures do exactly what I would like them to do...)
Future Plans (Time and ability permitting) ====================== - Fix Known Issues - Items placed in the mail drop box outside Bunker 8 will be moved to the mail drop box inside Bunker 8. (I would have included this but not sure how to script it just yet) - Interconnected terminals with a main terminal that can control all other terminals once it's hacked into. - Add a quest to guide you through your first visit to Bunker 8 - Possibly add a few other side quests. - More NPC's possibly including a small company of hirable mercenaries. - Buyable upgrades such as a teleporter, item sorter, barber and / or plastic surgeon.
