About this mod

Button click sounds bad?

Permissions and credits
Same as with Oblivion and any other games I played, I've been messing with the interface sounds replacing them for my own amusement, if only the game allowed to do that. Somehow I'm a bit itchy with all those clicks and beeps whatever you highlight, select, scroll, move etc.

This package contains replacement sounds for some interface events in Fallout 3. The goal is to make your pipboy sound less distracting, or in any way - different. Sound files used are taken from my overgrown collection of sample sounds scavegned around the internet over the years, recorded with musicians I know, taken from their collections, or mixed by myself from other "cool" sounds I heard here and there. These are just trash. I honestly can't remember where I got most of these files from, probably some free download sites or else, and it's hard to think of a copyright if any applies. Take it and enjoy or ignore, no hard feeleings ;)

--------------------------------------
THE FOLLOWING HAVE BEEN ALTERED:

MAIN MENU:
Button highligh, select, cancel (this includes pipboy, dialogue, barter, inventory and such menus).

PIPBOY:
- Map location highlight.
- Light on replaced with light off sound, both are the same now.

POPUPS:
- Experience gain, the cash register sound (As if this is some arcade game. Score!), replaced with default Fallout 3's message popup beep known well from Fallout 1 and 2.
- Message popup replaced with silent, one second long sound, no sound.
- New quest sound replaced with more immersive and darker tune, clearly marking a new chapter.

VATS:
The VATS mode has been almost entirely altered with the sound of some clunky mechanics, gears and springs. This includes VATS enter/exit (zoom in/out), body part highlight/select, target switch and execute command. Yes, I know that vanilla zoom sound is THE sound from original Fallout (combat tour start/end) and is somewhat a cult sound, brings back the memories and so on. But no. It got old, I think. In Fallout 3 the Pipboy is different, VATS is new, it should sound different.

GAMEPLAY:
- "Level up" text message sound replaced with "ui_popup_questcomplete.wav" from game's "Sounds.bsa". I'm not sure but I think that this sound isn't used in PC version, haven't heard it. I've upped the volume and put it in place of that horrible too-much-Oblivion-like "ta-ta-da".
- Level up/character window music replaced with much subtle, darker tune, less "Halleluyah, I grow stronger!".

REPLACEMENT & REMOVAL

Copy the "Data" folder to game's directory, e.g. "C:\Fallout 3", any existing files will be overwritten. ArchiveInvalidation is not needed for sound resources. To restore default sounds, follow the list above and delete each file and parent folder, if empty.
