About this mod

Makes Hunting Rifle take 5.56mm Rounds and replaces nearby .32 Caliber Rounds with 5.56mm.

Permissions and credits
-What
This makes the Hunting Rifle take 5.56mm Rounds as its ammunition rather than .32 Caliber Rounds. It also replaces all .32 Caliber Rounds in the world that accompany any hunting rifles with 5.56mm Rounds. Leveled lists and NPC's (Quinn's) inventories are changed over to the right ammunition as well. The only other change was to make it so this gun doesn't behead or dismember (On Hit is set to Explode Only), as is my wont.

-Why
This mod is all about me being a pedantic perfectionist, but i know i'm not the only who is bothered by this. I found it odd that a weapon entitled Hunting Rifle took an anemic .32 caliber wheelgun cartridge. When i think "hunting rifle", something more like .308 comes to mind, but that stuff is less common and 25 damage seems a little low for it. So i settled on what else but 5.56mm, which is abundant, accurate, not greatly powerful, appropriate for hunting, and bolt-action rifles are actually known to be chambered in .223. Yeah, i know that you're not supposed to shoot 5.56mm through guns intended for .223, but i've never read of anyone's gun blowing up because of it, to say the least.

-Compatibility
The only DLCs i have are Broken Steel and Point Lookout, so i can't be sure of this mod's effects on the other DLCs, but i'm optimistic that there will be no problems. Unless an NPC with a Hunting Rifle is given ammunition by script, or an NPC with a Hunting Rifle is set to spawn with an exact number of rounds, i can't imagine this messing anything up. Oh, and any mod that has an override to WeapHuntingRifle will be in conflict, such as a mod to make NPCs run out of ammunition.

-Installation
Put 556 Hunting Rifle.esp and any other relevant .esp files into your \Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data folder, run Fallout Mod Manager, check "556 Hunting Rifle.esp". If you have Broken Steel, check 556 Hunting Rifle for Broken Steel.esp too, and if you have Point Lookout, check 556 Hunting Rifle for Point Lookout.esp too.

-Adapting previous saved games
This mod works "out of the box" so to speak, but when used on previous saved games, there are some things you may want to address. Like maybe you have a hundred .32 Caliber Rounds for your Hunting Rifle that are now useless. To make up for these hundred rounds, press ~ and key in player.additem 4240 100 for a hundred 5.56mm Rounds. Player.removeitem 207F7 100 removes your hundred .32 Caliber Rounds. If you happen upon someone who should be wielding a Hunting Rifle, but isn't because their ammunition doesn't fit anymore, press ~ and click on them so their identification shows at the top of the screen, and key in additem 4240 5, or resurrect.
