Description
-----------
The Microwave Emitter is a weapon that is supposed to ignore DR (damage resistance); however, this appears to be bugged, as I have not found any target where this is true. Indeed, the damage inflicted by the emitter is the same whether the 'Ignore resistance' box is ticked in the GECK or not.
The primary purpose of this mod is to correct this problem. The mod calculates the correct damage, works out the damage that has already been applied to the target and then adjusts the target's health by the difference.
In addition:
1) The emitter has been modifed to now use energy cells rather than MF cells, so that the type of ammo better matches the reload animation. Since ECs are more common than MF cells, the Emitter has been modified to use two cells per shot, with a six-cell magazine (i.e. three shots before reload).
2) The weapon is now SILENT. It seemed to me that a weapon that simply sends out microwaves should not be as noisy as a pistol or rifle.
Limitations
-----------
1) THE DR CHANGES ONLY WORK IF THE WEAPON IS USED IN VATS.
2) The routines for calculating damage still overestimate the damage normally inflicted by the Emitter, and so the adjustment is rather less than it ought to be. This is partly the result of my not having all of the necessary info to carry out a fully-accurate calculation.
Even so, you will find that the ME is now a devastating weapon against armoured enemies.
3) Note that the changes do not affect enemies which have no DR.
