The Sorcerer is just as likely to stay at home in their tower and study as throw spells in battle. Use the Sorcerer's Tower improvement to conduct magical experiments that produce massive quantities of mana, experience, or research. Assuming it doesn't go horribly wrong, of course!
Sorcerer sovereigns can take on a Sorcerer's Apprentice as well.
Send your Sorcerer into battle, however, and he'll cast much slower than a mage - but pack a battle-winning whallop. Learn Light or shadow magic depending on allegiance, and drop a meteor into battle to kill almost anything!
