About this mod

Fable was never meant to be speedran. Speedrunners are ruining the Fable community! Fable is about getting married, getting married again, funny hats, and dancing for the village people whose predecessors you murdered just for funsies. This mod ensures that everything a runner relies on, save for yummy rolls, is broken or undoable.

To clarify, this was done out of love, and I want to give a very special shoutout to the masochistic runners who've decided to race this abomination of a mod: Etem, Rehim, and CleanSera.

Installation
  • Using beat or Floating IPS or whichever BPS patcher works for you, patch your unmodified Fable.exe with Anti-Speedrun.bps in the root folder.
  • Run ChocolateBox and press Yes to any prompts to set up your mod environment.
  • Copy the \data folder in the archive onto your root Fable \data folder; it should overwrite files.
  • Copy user.ini from the archive to your root Fable folder (where the executable is); it should also overwrite a file.
  • Delete \data\Bones\hero_young_set.bncfg from your vanilla Fable install.
  • Using ChocolateBox or FableExplorer, load Anti-Speedrun.fmp in the root archive directory.
  • Save changes and run Fable

Show
This was done as a meme and as an inadvertent technical showcase. It utilises a custom BPS byte patch for the executable (compatible with the vanilla Steam executable) which alters the save system to make it less abusable (credit to shiftweave for discovering this), while also absolutely obliterating the spell menu in a way that will be sure to mess with any seasoned speedrunner. I spent far too many hours trying to tamper with the spell menu, and I'm glad that this of all things is its first use. Additionally, modifications to the Strength video were made to be compatible with Windows 10, as it will not play otherwise; this is done by changing 4 bytes toward the beginning of the file (although you can get it in game with only 2 bytes; the other 2 bytes are so it can generate a thumbnail). The Heal video also suffers from the same problem, and I've fixed that and will release both videos as a mod following this; however, the Heal video is not needed for this mod. Also included are edits to another skill video (to add sound, for reasons), "lovely" music edits courtesy of CleanSera and myself for the memes, about 43 various data edits, a few TNGs, and a classic for Fable mod fuckery: bones.
