Great Mod, thank you for making it! I tried some settings, here are my findings (I wish this could be added to a wiki or something, as I'm sure many people have already tried other settings and have more insight than this already, navigating the comments is hell)
The setting for each entry in the ini (0, 1, 2, 3): 1 = items or objects remain intact, but their locations are shuffled 2 = the item is "scrambled" by having every variable in the item set to some random (but hopefully legal?) value. 3 = does 1 and 2 (though to be honest, given how scrambling works, this setting is superfluous and perhaps best avoided?)
- Good Settings to try (in order they appear in the .ini file, and in addition to the default settings): EquipParamWeapon = 1 ; shuffles weapon behavior, avoid [2] though (many variable combinations are illegal; scrambling will break weapons like staves) EquipParamProtector = 1 ; shuffles armor for yourself and NPCs, very fun, avoid [2] though (not as egregious as weapons, but still feels bad) EquipParamAccessory = 1 ; shuffles your talismans, avoid [2] though (you will not be able to determine what they do otherwise) EquipParamGoods = 0 ; don't randomize this as it messes with your goat ReinforceParamWeapon = 0 ; you could randomize this, but the default behavior is good (upgrading any weapon allows weapons level 0 to [highest upgrade you did] to occur) Bullet = 0 ; Could be neat, but in practice results in very janky behavior as most "bullets" are actually spell particle effects Magic = 1 ; Shuffles what each spell does, (does this effect enemies?). [2] has potential, try it out, but it does result in a lot of harmless spells FaceParam = 1 ; All humanoid NPCs trade faces, very fun; [2] may take it into overdrive, but I haven't noticed a big difference CharaInitParam = 2 ; Pretty wild, affects NPC stats and armor, if they are humanoids like you. Shuffling is fun, Scrambling is fun, if you want the NPCs to /only/ look wacky though, EquipParamProtector will do that for you, and you can leave this at [0] SwordArtsParam = 1 ; Vital, changes default Ash of War on weapons. You will get very good ones, my first try I impaled myself on my club. 2 is also viable, similar to Magic though this may break many ashes. WeatherParam = 1 ;Vital, changes weather. Scrambling may be fun too, haven't test it all that well yet WeatherLotParam = 1 ; Same as above, not sure what this changes, just did both?
-Niche Settings to try (these have potential, but break too many things?) : NpcParam = 0 ; Don't Use This, it will break Graces!! This will replace enemies and NPCs with totally different entity animations, for extremely bizarre effects. This however will break many bosses, making them unkillable NpcThinkParam = 1 ; Very funny, but ruins difficulty (except in cases where it Ruins You). Effectively swaps how creatues "act" and even gives humanoid enemies new attacks. You will get swarmed by dear, have soldiers act timidly to you, and have the Strong Lance Knight in Stormveil "see" you from 10 miles away and not rest until he paths to you and kills you. I knocked a guy off his horse, and his horse killed him. TalkParam = 0 ; this only changed subtitles for me, and removed all voices. Seems neat, but the humor wears thin quickly. Can break some events.
dude thanks so much for this seriously helped me kindof understand what params im messing with even ones you didnt list i think i now know what they affect, thanks a tonnnnnnnnnn
So I have more or less followed the the settings shown here, but the Reinforce screen doesn't even show any items - do you know why that would be? [EDIT: turning off EquipParamWeapon fixed this, but based on your settings it seems like that worked for you?]
From what I can tell, Weather includes the buffs/debuffs applied by certain weathers like golden leaves applying the Gold Pickled Fowl-Foot buff. I set these to Scramble and I had random weathers that applied random effects, and not just effects that weather already could have - in two different seeds I've almost immediately gotten weather that applied the effects of Shabriri's Woe lmao.
I believe the former refers to the effects applied by weathers and the latter is the tables of possible weathers per area? If you want random weathers that behave the way they do in vanilla I would just set WeatherLotParam
alot of ashes just dont work, i assume thats just because of the game code but is that something to fix with one of these settings? theyll randomize but most wont work, like i got corpse piler on a scimitar but it had no effect, just the particles and animation
I used all of this for one of my playthrough and now it says my flasks are empty when I had 4 Flasks of Crimson Tears an 1 Flask of Cerulean Tears. Is there anyway to fix this?
hey i know its almost a year later but it seems you did a lot of testing, do you know if there is a way to randomize materials? not upgrade materials, just materials like erdleaf flowers and rowa fruit?
Can i change the saves type file, i want to merge enemy randomizer mod with this one but the saves are different types of files. Is there a way to change them so i can play with both mods?
How can I play it with another randomizer using mod engine? And also the flasks random. I have trouble combining mods mention above and this mod? Appreciate a lot if it can be solved.
Would be great to know exactly what each parameter does since just their name isn't enough most of the time. Is there some kind of document or something that explains each them? I want to recreate the chaotic feel of the Irregulator mod for DS3 as much as possible, but enabling the few options that I actually understand just from reading their name, it doesn't seem to be as chaotic as that. I just don't know where to go from here since there are so many options and I don't want to blindly enable them without knowing what they actually do. So I guess if someone found a configuration that randomizes a lot of things without completely breaking the game, I would greatly appreciate if you could share it. Thanks!
Can this work with other mods that use separate executables? I very much dislike third person perspective, and so play exclusively with ERFPS, would love to try this out in combination, anyone know if that would be possible?
It won't work with modded "regulation.bins", as it seems to need the default placements and items for it to not crash upon randomising. It would be nice if it could be somehow tweaked to, first, read the reg. to be randomised, THEN, for the randomising to be -- allowing for modded regs. to use this tool. So, as far as I can see, as long as one has the vanilla reg. file, it should work (the EXE's likely only for referencing the reg. / game folder).
i dont think the mod works anymore, I can't get it to properly work at least, extracted to main folder. have the exe and itemrandomizer folder, but it still wont do anything.

EquipParamGoods = 0 ; don't randomize this as it messes with your goat
ReinforceParamWeapon = 0 ; you could randomize this, but the default behavior is good (upgrading any weapon allows weapons level 0 to [highest upgrade you did] to occur)

Magic = 1 ; Shuffles what each spell does, (does this effect enemies?). [2] has potential, try it out, but it does result in a lot of harmless spells

btw what does this do WetAspectParam ?
Probably means there's a chance you don't get Torrent

It still doesn't have simple descriptions but you can look at the variable names in each param and probably suss something out
