Removed or Decreased Phantom Colors

Completely removes or greatly decreases the phantom color effects of cooperators, invaders, spirit summons, and certain bosses like Fia's Champions and Evergaol bosses.

My screenshot skills unfortunately don't give a great impression for the reduced colors, they look much better in-game (especially in darker areas).

WARNING

Using this mod in regular online mode WILL GET YOU BANNED!
This mod makes changes to the regulation file, which the game servers and anticheat can notice and ban you for.
If you're going to go online, either use a separate save or make VERY sure that you've deleted all traces of this mod before doing so.
Seamless Coop is 100% safe to use this with, as it has it's own separate save system and doesn't sync with the regular online servers at all.

With Seamless Coop, make sure everyone has the exact same version installed!
I can't help you with any problems that may come up because someone in your group doesn't have the same version as another person.
At best it will cause your games to desync, and at worst it might crash your games or not let you connect to each other.
This means you must all be using the same version number and file.

Compatibilities:

Should be compatible to merge with most mods

Probably won't affect ERR's spirit summons, the rest should work appropriately. I'm sorry but I cannot be bothered to make another patch for ERR, I don't even play it.

Known issues:

Seamless Coop's blue team color is affected, but possibly / probably not red team's color
  • Blue team uses the same color as Fia's Champions, which is also used by puppet-type spirit summons
  • I have no idea what color red team uses in PhantomParam and you can only join blue team when solo, so I can't really change this right now

Human / Tarnished characters who normally have phantom colors sometimes have much darker hair than normal, mostly noticeable on characters with light hair
  • Minor vanilla bug related to how hair is rendered with a phantom effect applied, mainly in areas with no direct sunlight
  • Still happens due to the mod technically just removing the color from the effect, and not the actual effect

General installation:

First, download Mod Engine 2 at this link and follow the installation process there if you don't have it already.
(Optionally, follow the instructions for making ME2 work with Seamless Coop)

Method 1:

1. Extract the contents of the "reduced-removed-phantom-colors" folder to the "mod" folder in your Mod Engine directory

2. Launch Elden Ring through ME2

This is the easiest method, but it will overwrite any regulation mods you have installed in your mod folder. Keep a backup if you need to.

Method 2
:

1. Extract the "removed-decreased-phantom-colors" folder to your Mod Engine directory

2. Open the file "config_eldenring.toml" and add this line to your mod list:

{ enabled = true, name = "removed-decreased-phantom-colors", path = "removed-decreased-phantom-colors" },

3. Save and launch Elden Ring through ME2

This method is more advanced, but it allows you to avoid potentially overwriting other mods you have installed. It's not necessary, but I personally recommend it.

Merging:

Included is the .csv file required for merging your regulation.bin.
To merge your regulation files, open the file you want to add this mod to in DS Map Studio or Smithbox and merge the following .csv file:

PhantomParam.csv
