About this mod

Brings the Greatsword of the Knight Artorias into Elden Ring, along with its lore and menu icons

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Simply put, this mod aims to truly bring the Greatsword of Artorias into the world of Elden Ring. The main purpose of this mod, when I started working on it, was to complete the work Fwipp started with his Greatsword of Artorias Restored mod, which is a great work and in fact a hard requirement for this mod here, but it has one single flaw in my eyes: it only brings the model of the sword into the game, while the icons, menu image and description are left untouched. I aimed to change this very aspect, that's why I started work on this mod here.

At its core, this mod does mainly two things: it changes the equip image of the Claymore and the image of the description into the menu, to fit the Greatsword of Artorias. Additionally, it changes the name of the sword and its description, to make it consistent with the lore of Artorias from the first Dark Souls game. Thanks to the help of VashtorrMKXII this mod is compatible with english, italian and spanish localizations of the game.

Additionally, this also does the same thing as my Wolf Knight Greatsword Ancient Glory mod for Dark Souls 3, by enhancing the base damage of the sword and all of its scaling values across every single infusion, to better match the divine weapon this greatsword should be lore wise. Because of this, the greatsword will be incredibly powerful, reaching something around 1220 AR with 60 in both Strenght and Dexterity and 13 in Arcane. My personal recommendation would be to refrain from giving any infusion to the sword if you don't want to make it too overpowered, but of course if you so wish you still have the chance to do it.

Requirements

Greatsword of Artorias Restored
by Fwipp:This is mandatory, as my mod only touches icons and text. You need this mod to have the proper ingame model

Additional Software Requirements

Gideon - UI texture deployer for mods: This is required for one of the installation methods
Mod Engine 2: To install the mod without unpacking your game files
UXM: To install the mod by unpacking your game files
DSMapStudio: If you wish to install my mod by merging it with your current setup
WitchyBND - File unpacker and serializer: Same as above

Installation Method 1: Plug 'n play

1 - Download and install Greatsword of Artorias Restored, either with Mod Engine 2 or unpacking your game files first
2 - Download my mod and unpack its contents either inside your game folder (if you unpacked) or your mod folder (if using Mod Engine 2)
3 - Enjoy (and upload a screenshot here, if you wanna, it would be much appreciated)

Installation Method 2: Manual Merging

This is much more complicated, as a matter of fact I would recommend using this method only for more experienced users. This said, here we go:

1 - Download and install Greatsword of Artorias Restored, either with Mod Engine 2 or unpacking your game files first
2 - Download the "Merging Files" from the optional files section of this mod
3 - Download the required programs, such as DSMapStudio and WitchyBND
4 - Unzip those two programs and put them in separate folders, which ideally could be both placed inside your game folder
5 - Using WitchyBND, unpack both of your 00_solo-tpfbhd and your 01_common-tpf-dcx
6 - Open the 01_common-tpf-dcx folder you downloaded from here, and drop the file  SB_Icon_03.dds inside the 01_common-tpf-dcx folder you unpacked
7 - Repack the 01_common-tpf-dcx folder (Optionally, once WitchyBND has finished repacking, delete the leftover folder and the .bak file)
8 - From the archive you downloaded, take the MENU_Knowledge_10098-tpf-dcx folder inside the 01_common-tpf-dcx folder you unpacked with WitchyBND
9 - Repack the folder, then go back to your mod folder and repack the 01_common-tpf-dcx (again, optionally delete the leftover folder and the .bak file)
10 - Inside your Mod Engine 2 folder (or your game folder if you unpacked the game files) locate the "msg" folder. If you don't have any mod that changes the italian or spanish localization of the game, you can just drop either the itait or the spaes folder inside your msg folder.

If you play with the english localization, and have other mods modifying the files inside the engus folder, additional steps are required. Keep in mind that you can use the following steps for the italian and spanish localization as well:

11 - Unpack the item-msgbnd-dcx file inside the engus folder using WitchyBND
12 - Open the folder that popped out, and unpack the files WeaponName.fmg and WeaponCaption.fmg
13 - Open the WeaponName.fmg.xml file and highlight all the text from 3180000 to 3181200 and replace those entries with the ones from the Weapon Name.txt file you can find inside the archive you downloaded from here (Merging Files\Text\English)
14 - Repack the xml files and then the folder containing them
15 - Repeat the steps 14 and 15 for the WeaponCaption.fmg.xml file, this time using the entries inside the Weapon Description.txt file

Now you need to merge the entries for the Regulation.bin file

16 - Open the CSV Merging folder and take the EquipParamWeapon.csv and the project.json files and put them in the same folder where your modded Regulation.bin is located, which will be either the Mod Engine 2 Mod folder or the main game folder, if you unpacked your game
17 - Unpack DSMapStudio into an empty folder (Ideally you should put it in a folder inside yout main game folder, for conveniency)
18 - Once you have DSMapStudio up and running, in the top left corner select "File" and then "Open Project". Select the project that came with this mod
19 - Look for the EquipParamWeapon string in the left pane, and in the center pane look for the entries of the Claymore (you can do it easily using the search bar above the column)
20 - Highlight all the entries with the Claymore name, then clon the top section of the program window click on Edit > Import CSV > From File > All Fields. A window will pop up, and you will have to browse for the CSV file that came with my mod
21 - Click CTRL+S to save, or just click on Edit > Save All in the top section of the program window

Installation via Gideon - UI texture deployer

1 - Download and install Greatsword of Artorias Restored, either with Mod Engine 2 or unpacking your game files first
2 - Download the Gideon Version file from the optional files tab
3 - Put the files inside the archive inside either your Mod Engine 2 mod folder or your main game folder (depending on wether you unpacked the game or not)
4 - Launch the Setup UI Images (Wolf Knight Greatsword) file and follow the install wizard
5 - Follow the steps from 11 to 21 of the previous section to merge the text and the csv files

Additionally, if you want to also change the moveset for your weapon to match the one Artorias uses in Dark Souls 1, you can use this mod here:

Fwipp for his Greatsword of Artorias Restored, which made this mod possible to begin with
Pear for giving me insight about texture modding and for his Rocket Mod Launcher, which helped me tremendously with testing the mod throughout the process
Katalash for DSMapStudio, which simplified an awful lot the stat modifying for this mod and rendered the whole merging process simpler
kingborehaha for Mod Engine 2, which is a golden standard when it comes to FromSoftware games modding

If you wish to know more about Rocket Mod Launcher, which I would recommend as your primary tool for modding Elden Ring (and in the future other games as well) I suggest you to pay a visit to Pear's Discord server, to stay constantly updated about Launcher's developement, and get modding suggestions
