About this mod

This Reshade preset enhances the beautiful world of Elden Ring with better shadows, global illumination effects and color grading.

Info:
This package contains two Reshade presets. Non-GI version is performance friendly, and it adds color grading, contrast, lighting effects and tiny bit of sharpening. GI version does the same and it also adds small and mid-scale shadows, bounce lighting and optional depth of field blur but requires GPU power. GI version also needs access to the depth buffer.

Color grading was done to replace too "pure" yellow, green and blue tones with slightly darker and murkier tones.

Global illumination effects are done with NGLighting and it's the most performance heavy filter in the package. However, I think that some bushes, furniture etc. lack a proper shadow and the GI filter does quite good job to add them.

Presets have couple optional filters; Filmgrain (reduces color banding) and ADOF (depth of field blur which can make some menus unreadable). Disable these if you don't like them.

Important:
GI version of this preset needs to access the depth buffer. After you have installed Reshade, you need to edit global preprocessor definitions and set reshade_depth_input_is_reversed to 1.

Included filters:
  • AMD FidelityFX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening: Makes the game look sharper.
  • NGLighting: Adds global illumination effects (shadows & bounce lighting).
  • qUINTMotionVectors: NGLighting requirement.
  • AmbientLight: Adds ambient light effects.
  • LUT: Color grading, contrast.
  • FGFX Large Scale Perceptual Obscurance Irradiance: Adds large scale shadows and highlights.
  • Filmgrain: Adds filmgrain to reduce color banding.
  • ADOF: Depth of field effect.

Installation:
Step 1: Adjust the game brightness before using the preset.

Step 2: Install Reshade (These instructions are for version 6.0.0).
  • Download Reshade installer from reshade.me and run it.
  • Select a game or application: Select 'ELDEN RING' from the list and click 'Next'.
  • Select the rendering API: Choose 'DirectX 10/11/12' and click 'Next'.
  • Select effects to install: Choose whatever you want. Standard effects are required for this mod. Click 'Next'.
  • Select add-ons to install: Click 'Next'.
  • Close the installer.
Note: Reshade does not alter any game files. It just adds few files to your Elden Ring folder. If you want to uninstall it, just run the installer again, choose the game and click 'Uninstall'.

Step 3: Install the preset:
  • Download my preset.
  • Open the zip archive and extract all contents to the folder where Elden Ring executable is.

Step 4: Configure Reshade:
  • Start the game. You should see a message 'Reshade is installed succesfully. Press Home to start the tutorial'. Press 'Home'.
  • You should now see a Reshade overlay. Click 'Skip tutorial'.
  • Home tab should now be active. Click left/right arrow on the top of the screen until you see 'Tarnished Shades' presets.
  • Go to the settings tab, select 'Effect toggle key' and press 'End'. Now you can use End key to disable/enable Reshade effects while in the game.
  • Press 'Home' to close the overlay.
