Hello!
I planned to write this sooner, but time went by so fast...

I'm quite busy with my real life, sorting out some things. Nothing too serious but overall this made me lack time to play games and to work on this mod as well. Version 0.5 ended not that great as a result, and there was no more progress behind the scene.
Interest about the mod also went down, so I thought its kidna fine. But going radio silent is not that good especially coz new DLC is so close to release.

It's hard for me to decide what should I do but if given a totally free hand I would probably not buy DLC as of now and wait closer till end of the year or even later where I expect to have more free time to play. Im not that hyped about it. I don't know how long expansion will be, but I feel like I should play dlc first and then try to mod it after so I actually enjoy the game and learn what should be modified.

Maybe I should open donations so DLC would fund itself and motivate me to start to work on it sooner? But will this be enough to make me find extra time? And I need to play DLC before modding it anyway.

I'm also not sure if my mod will be that interesting, there might come new limitations with DLC, and there for sure will be more issues to fix.

But waiting half year or more for compatible version of my mod? Quite bad too.

More questions than answers.
What do you think?

Update (21.06.2024):
Thanks for comments! Its nice to see other ppl POV.

So after briefly looking at the situation here are the plans:

  • Check a info about what and how much changed, if moding tools works and update my mod to work with new patch for the base game.
This will probably mean there will be test patch as I have limited time to test out things myself.
  • After a quick look at DLC im not too interested in buying it right now
    This mean 2 things:
    1. I may or may not make a blind attempt to get and make my mod dlc compatible
    2. I will probably open up donations so I can work on dlc sooner if ppl would be willing to fund it for me.
  • Im not sure yet but I think it will be hard for me to support dlc and non dlc compatibility at the same time so it will be probably just one option.

Update (26.06.2024):
Waiting for tool update to edit file required for gacha part >.<

Update (07.07.2024):
Dev of tool I need confirmed that he is working on the tool, ETA is not set but hopefully not too long.

Update (27.07.2024):
Tools works. Did some work today and now it seems that I got all things that were needed to update the mod. I think I also got knowledge about all changes I need to make. It will require some time.

Update (28.07.2024):
More progress done, overall there is a chance that new version will work with and without DLC.
Overall there is still decent amount of work left, its a pretty big mod.
New feature (done): Favored stat for weapon type. Now each weapon type will most likely roll certain stat. For example Great Swords will most likely have a str requiments and scaling. This wont prevent totally random stats but if you want use certain weapon type then you will have a higher chance that your build will get something fitting if u focus on favored stat.

Update (29.07.2024):
Stuck on weird bug with script update.

Update (30.07.2024):
Script bug solved thanks to help of @Lucy on discord.
Had to rewrite scripts(gacha) and I also found 1 small bug in gacha roll that I fixed.

Update (01.08.2024):
It seems doing fully DLC compatible version will take much longer than expected so I guess I will upload version for non DLC which may or may not work with  the DLC - for sure there will be things that will be missing. So next version for standard ER may come after this weekend.

Update (10.08.2024):
Test version is up and work continues. Like I said on main page, next relase is planned around 18.08.2024.

Update (18.08.2024):
New version is up. Overall im still quite busy with real life. DLC probably works with new version but  cant test new areas.

Thanks for the kind words! I slowly started to work on the update. Many things changed and I will probably try to get it as compatible with DLC as I can. Not sure if it will work without me having DLC but we will see as so far I noticed that it may be possible.

Overall I'm still busy with real life, so don't expect a new version too fast.

Looking forward to more updates on the mod, it's one of my favorites among Elden Ring mods!

I think this mod rules, I just wish that ashes of wars were more random as I seem to only run into like 3-4 but maybe thats a luck issue lol. This mod is literally everything I wanted out of an elden ring mod though, I love rng and always wanted to mess around with something diabo-esque, and I really wanted a mod that randomizes ashes of war. it makes weapons you get more unique it just sucks I only get like 3, sometimes the effect bonuses on armor make it a little too easy but thats something that can be avoided by just not using them lol. Definitely eagerly waiting for this to update so I can play with all the new weapons and stuff!

Ever since playing Nioh 1 and 2, I've been craving for a diablo esque style souls game so to see this pop up on Elden ring was a dream come true kind of thing for me!

The fun i have with this mod as i walk up to enemies and farm them over and over in the hopes of ELDEN tier loot to drop or a new weapon to get with a different effect makes me have so much fun.

I hope you'll update in someday when you have more free time and if you do put up some sort of donation thing I'll drop a few dollars because that's just how much i like RNG loot in my games.

im a big fan of diablo style loot actually, i would love to see the mod updated with the new dlc even if it takes a cuple of months, me and friends really enjoy playing diablo style games and we wanted to play again elden ring with the mod, it know modding isn't easy, but it would be great if the mod comes back with the dlc in a simpler way to install (my friends are kinda dumb and its hard 4 them to install it xd), i would do this mod with my own take but University is taking most of my time, maybe do the mod open source if you like? that way people would probably fix it and update it for a long time (that includes me if it happens, i have only made a few really simple mods but i want to make gibber things later in life related with games and modding) and idk , thats my take, im broke as a collage student  so i wont be able to help you found the dlc by itself, that said, hope you have a great one pal, thanks for the amazing mod anyways!

It will probably be best to hide the mod once the DLC comes out since you probably won't have an update ready and might not ever update it. Otherwise, some people will get frustrated trying to get the mod files to work with the old game files. Once it's hidden, you can relax and just do small portions of the update process if and when you feel like it. Accepting donations could cause you to be stressed if you don't feel like updating it, so it seems like not accepting donations is better.

I love the mod to bits, but I think you shouldn't force it. Maybe if there is a quick and cheap way to update it so that it works with the DLC too? Even with a few bugs

      Thanks! :D

ER is my first souls game so I'm not sure how much game files change with DLC but if its not much then "blind" update should be possible although I think I will need DLC to do so. If DLC includes some new core mechanic or something else important is changed, then it might be harder.
For sure I will need a list of items to exclude from randomness and probably some more things I don't remember now.

Also while somewhat working patch will be easier than more tested one - some minimal tests (and DLC knowledge) are needed mostly coz idk when DLC starts in game and new/fixed seeds of my mod randomize gear so if some1 will spend several hours farming some gear then go to DLC and find that most stuff is not randomized or even become soft locked somehow then it won't be good feeling.

But maybe I just should do some test versions so others would help me with testing.
