NDP has been updated for compatibility with the Enhanced Edition/The Following, in addition to removing the death penalty for Legend experience on Hard/Nightmare.
Everything will work propertly as long as you do it manualy. - You need to extract files from dying light/DW/Data0.pak .Extract data/scripts/difficultyparams.scr and data/skills/default_levels.xml . - In difficultyparams.scr find all DeathPenaltyLegendXPFactor and change it values to 0.0. - In default_levels.xml find SurvivalPenaltyOnDeath and SurvivalPenaltyOnDeathNight and change all values to 0.0. - Then you need to pack those files to Data3.pak with folders like in data0.pak (data/scripts/difficultyparams.scr and data/skills/default_levels.xm)
"Then you need to pack those files to Data3.pak with folders like in data0.pak (data/scripts/difficultyparams.scr and data/skills/default_levels.xm)"
How the absolute hell did you manage to re-pack the edited files back into .pak format? I have been trying to 2.5 hours NOTHING will work simply renaming .zip or .7z to .pak does not work for me
Doubt you need to know 10 months later but for anyone else trying to do so you can do it with winrar just open the default data3.pak then add in your modded files and save as a .pak
No idea what i'm doing wrong, but when i install this mod the following happens: -kick stops working/registering hits. -i can't craft. -melee weapons lose 99.99% range.
Theres multiple posts here that tell you different things on how to install it, so it's all confusing.
Dude, love you long time! I am just was coming off of a 30 minute rage and anger episode after the game helped me suicide myself for the 10th time with their garbage "landing helper assist" controls that hijack your mid air controls from high jumps in order to "help" you land on garbage piles, and instead quite often smashing you into cold hard concrete and the last 3 hours of grind to level up legend XP tree on Nightmare goes kaput. Worse penalty than the souls series. Mother effen bull-fucking-shit. so, anyway - love you long time, and go grab yourself a cold beer - you deserved it! :D
I just got it working myself, with a mix of AzzFat and MyVirtualMe's methods. So I'll explain what I did: 1- Rename the extracted folder (with all the mod files in it) "DW". 2- In that folder (which should have three things: scripts, skills, and data3.pak) make a folder called "data". Drag the scripts and skills folders into that new folder. 3- Copy and paste the DW folder into the game's main directory. It should be asking you to overwrite DW, data, and some files. Agree. 4- At this point, I did have to open the default_levels.xml found in the skills file, and edit the "SurvivalPenaltyOnDeathNight" entries and make all of them 0. But the SurvivalPenaltyOnDeath and the DeathPenaltyLegendXPFactor were all appropriately 0 already. From my testing so far, it didn't seem to matter if any of the values were 0, 0.0, -0, or -0.0. The effect seems to work the same. Hope this helps someone!
Yeah, I took a look and you shouldn't have to do half of that. The data3.pak holds both the scripts and skills, for some reason the author just unpacked it, and made a double copy. All you should have to do is use 7zip on the data3.pak, navigate to the script, and change the death penalty mod if needed. On the other hand, if you have another mod with the same script (likely), you can change it there as well, and only move the other one, which I am not convinced is required in the first place. Cheers for playing an awesome game!
DO NOT DO THIS. IT WILL 100% BREAK YOUR GAME IN 2022
It causes you to not lose XP on death, but you can no longer damage enemies craft weapons or use survivor sense and slight fall damage is now lethal. Yeah.
Well, it fixed me losing exp on death, but now my guy moves super sluggishly and takes damage when falling from the tiniest drops. I didn't change anything else in the .xml except the exp values... super frustrated now.
Same here, followed Aonix's instructions and it works fine. I got a message that I was playing with added content, and that if I were to play in a group then they would have to have the same added content. That's okay with me as I don't play multiplayer anyway. I played all the way up to legend level 43 in nightmare mode and finally said, enough, its time to move on. Another way around this if a person doesn't want to use this mod is to go to your save folder and copy the save file. Then create a folder and put the copy of the save file into it. Then if you die, just close the game completely go to your copy of the save file and then paste it over the new save file, restart the game and you should be fine. My save game is located at D:\Steam\userdata\26285618\239140\remote\out\save I don't know where it is for other users. If you know where your steam folder is then just follow everything after the D:\.

What's the fix? and does it still work?

I'd definitly give it a thumbs up :)
