Mystic Knight - Shield Boons and Spell Counters

My aim is to bring back the more careful and considered Mystic Knight style of play from Dragon's Dogma 1 as Spearhand feels a bit too wacky woohoo to be anywhere near a suitable replacement (cool class though). This mod lets you cast any type of boon by pressing an associated key (configurable in the REFramework Script Generated UI) during Shield Summons/Drum. You can also unleash a spell counter, deactivating your boon in the process. Damage is a bit weak at the moment because it uses fighter base stats for magic which are pathetic, I'm looking into stats adjustments for when the boon is active. Entirely lua based and very customisable. Boons can be toggled to affect the entire party or just you.



Usage

Whenever you use Shield Summons / Shield Drum, the script will start listening for an input. When you press one of the associated inputs during this window, you will cast the respective boon. The inputs can be configured in the REFramework Script Generated UI, but the defaults are as follows:

  • Fire: Square / X
  • Ice: Triangle / Y
  • Thunder: X / A

When you have a boon active, you can unleash a counter spell during a perfect guard by pressing another button, by default it's on L1 / LB but again, this is configurable in REFramework Script Generated UI.

Using a counter spell will deplete your boon. You can also gain temporary buffs from just guarding successfully a few times in a row (configurable in the UI). By default, a defensive buff is given (same effect as a stoutness extract), but this can be changed to an offensive buff in the UI. The counter resets whenever you lose your boon, this includes casting a new boon to replace your current one.

I wanted Levin for the Thunder counter but unfortunately, Levin is tricky to work with. I'll keep at it, but might not be doable for a while.

Installation

Install with FluffyModManager of course. Save the .ZIP to "FluffyModManager/Games/DragonsDogma2/Mods", no need to unpack. 
You can also manually install by extracting the "reframework" folder of the ZIP to your DD2.exe install folder, usually "Steam/steamapps/common/Dragons Dogma 2"

Requirements:
  • REFramework - Required to run the lua script
  • _ScriptCore - Necessary for Hotkey functionality
  • A yearning for Mystic Knight to make a glorious return 

I highly recommend grabbing Gameplay UWU if you're in the market for more skill swaps, and thanks to Byaku for running through some of the game's methods with me to get me started as I'm new to RE Engine modding. Next up is to look at spell counters, but that might take a fair amount of research.
