About this mod

Adjusts the exp table to make level requirements higher overall. Provides 3 alternative settings for determining how much exp is needed per level. Does not affect what stats are gained per level.

Includes base table for manual .arc assembly.

This mod tries to solve for one of the larger problems with the game length... that you progress from level 1-60 lightning quick, end up grossly overleveled for most the quests, and are pretty much just sitting there farming the Ur-Dragon for levels just to get them over and done with before heading into NG+ and eventually losing interest.

This mod has 3 main varieties: Slight, Steep, and Plateau.

  • Slight - Designed to be reasonably close to needing twice as much experience per level to offset the bonuses of Hard Mode, but still keeping reasonable at high level.
  • Steep - Designed for completionists who want to do most of the main story at fairly low level, still have reasonable progress to 100 (, but have a steady uphill climb to level 200+. Premise being that you want to get to level 100 fairly easily but want to have to work for level 200.
  • Plateau - Designed for people who like the long game. Level 1-25 is still fairly obtainable with casual play, but level 25-50 taking considerably longer, with 50-100 being extremely steep progression before easing off. Premise being that you want to be able to get to level 51 for hitting the gear requirements, but want everything after that to take decided effort without being ridiculous.
Point of comparison of exp to next level:
Level    Vanilla    Slight     Steep   Plateau
25         27,300       33,420       54,100    86,800
51         80,980       119,220     196,880   544,480
101       127,400      209,860     589,580   1,629,080
199       639,000      802,760     2,637,780  2,003,080

-=Online Ur-Dragon gives a base of 250000 exp=-

Comes with the .xml files for manual integration for those who are technically minded or who just want to compile the table to suit their desires. contains basic instructions for using Arctool to extract whatever Main_game.arc you are currently using, replacing the exp table with an edited one, and repacking it.

Alternative version available that includes the no carry limit and infinite sprinting stamina mod made by Alo81

- Can be applied to a game in progress. You won't decrease levels, but your current level along with any following levels will have the new requirements.
- Can be removed without risk. Any exp you have earned toward the level before removing the mod will be retained and instantly applied towards leveling up.
- Has not been thoroughly tested, but should not invalidate your pawn data since it is not changing the stat bonuses related to leveling.

-=To use just navigate to the version of main_game.arc that you want to use from the archive and drop into your game directory eg:
SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\DDDA\nativePC\rom
*make sure you make a backup of your previous main_game.arc*

-=To remove, replace main_game.arc with the default one or from any other mod.
