I've found a fix for anyone having patching problems, with either the "access denied" error or, if running it as an administrator, the "DDA_jppatch.exe is no recognized as internal or external command" issue.

    1. Run cmd.exe as an administrator from anywhere in your computer
    2. Type in "cd C:\(DDDA folder location directory)\nativePC\rom"
    3. Enter "PatchAll.bat" into the command prompt

I was having both issues before, tried every fix, finally got it working with this.

Seems to be a known issue it doesn't work for anyone who has the game installed on C: which is the system drive, and not to be rude but that's a common beginner error having any games installed on C: since by default the system (even if you are administrator) the system does not let you modify any files if you have not manually modified the security and permissions of the folder for the administrator user.

So right click on Steam folder if installed on C: got to security tab, and changed your users permission to full control, then the patcher should work to run as normal.
And in case it doesn't just follow the instruction of LilithLovegood

And just to make this clear, this is not the patchers fault, it's windows and the users fault since you have it installed on C: ^_^ So blame microsoft for their write protection, that's all.

      Beginner's error? I know you said you weren't trying to be rude... and I'll try not to be either... but it is worth pointing out (for sensitivity's sake) that not all of us have enough $$ to afford multiple large sized computer hard drives. Some of us are stuck with C drive as our only drive because we have the computer that we have (sometimes the one we were given) with no money available for anything extra or beyond the basics. **sighs** -_-;

Erm... but yeah, thanks for the instructions on how to fix the issue anyways. ^_^

You don't need an extra physical drive.
You can never be stuck with only a C: drive.

Partition your hard drive (this program is built-in windows). You can create a D: drive from your free space.

Install instructions (with a PDF and a YouTube video): https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/672/

I've just made and uploaded a tutorial video on how to install this mod. I'm a returning player and wanted to try some different things. I had some difficulties when trying to install this mod, but it was all about administrator rights and firewall/anti-virus blocking the .exe file of the mod. After a few trials and errors, it finally worked out and I decided to help the community by sharing this tutorial. I hope it might help someone one day.

This mod is great Thank you fellows for all your time and effort on making this.

I hope that someone who owns or has access to the Japanese Steam version of the game could eventually post the contents of the JP depot that comes with it to the Internet Archive or the like for preservation purposes.
This mod is okay, but aside from the obvious issue with incomplete female voice 4, the audio quality is compromised compared to the native voice clips due to the sound being re-encoded and upsampled, and with the mod you can't switch the audio language in-game like you can with a native JP version either.

If anyone wants native japanese voices, create a Steam account with a VPN set to Japan (even free ProtonVPN works), send yourself a friend request, wait three days, gift yourself Steam Gift Card, buy, if you own the game on your main account then unistall and download it from the japanese account, activate family sharing, enjoy.

It may also work if you use your main account and switch region to Japan, but afaik you can't switch back for three months and I have been told you have to remove your old copy of DD from your library.

This is for all of those like me who hate english voices and always use female voice 4 (and have a bit of OCD).

Could a mod not be made with these files that the newer 国内版 installation comes with? Would you be willing to send the difference in files to me?

@spiffeh I don't know, my modding skills are not very high and I don't want to bother making it since my game is 100% japanese already. But sure, the sound folder is not heavy, if you give me your Discord I will upload its content and send you the link if you want to try making a mod.

Hi bro, can you share just the jp files? they're actually very organized in their own separate folders and I can point you directly to them, it's just a matter of copying the files and sending them. The only difference between the region-locked Japanese version and the others is just those extra files. Changing the region on my main account didn't work for me. I checked steamdb and the Japanese version is costing almost double due to currency exchange. I can't afford to by the game again, I live in South America and it's just way too much money.

Great mod, just wanted to let people know this works great on linux

You'll need wine ofc then enter the command wine cmd
then navigate to the .bat folder and start BATFILE

For a beginner friendly step by step:

-use your file manager to go to the .bat lovation (DDDA\nativePC\rom)
-right click in the folder > Open terminal here
    -Typewine cmdthenstart PatchAll.bat

Hey Linuxbro, does your game happen to get stuck on any loading screens? I can't even reach the character creator with this mod on.

    Hello, David!
Thank you so much for the helpful solution.
I really like the japanese voice of the DDDA.
    I recorded a video:
    How to install
The language is never mind, just watching and doing, step by step.
    For Steam and GOG.
    Maybe that would be useful)

Thank you for using our mod, much appreciated and it's really rewarding when people like yourself use it and like it and give us endorsement :)
And great making an install video, not everyone has it easy following a text instruction.

      Have a wonderful day

Hello there! Would you know of any tools useful for modding voices? I tried to extract them with ARC Tool, but I'm left with some .spc and .srq files that I'm only able to extract to .wav files with Revil's Toolset but not able to compress again. Thanks!

    Great work man.

Btw I wanted to see if I could fix the missing voice lines (or at least mute them). Which program did you use to convert audio files?

Thank you, sadly we couldn't fix the female voice 4 as the soundfiles are embedded into another file at a location the patcher couldn't reach, not sure about muting them though as we never had any such plans. None of the soundfiles are actually converted, just took the japanese sound files and linked with the patcher to the correct location so they override the english ones.
