About this mod

Allows character appearance to be swapped to any other vocation

Permissions and credits
Changelogs
Made by request, this mod allows a character's appearance to be changed to that of any other vocation.

For example: A Merchant that looks like a Thief. Etc.

Notice: This mod changes quite a bit of game logic to completely separate character appearance from vocation. While I continue to test it as thoroughly as possible, it may have issues I am not yet aware of. Please create an extra save file before using this mod and see the notes at the bottom of the description for more details.

As always, I will continue testing and hope to make improvements with future updates to the mod. Thank you!

How to use:

1. Copy/Merge the enclosed "Game" folder into <steamapps>\Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake\Game

2. This should add the following files:

<steamapps>\Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake\Game\Binaries\Win64\Change_Vocation_Appearance_vX.Y.Z.asi
<steamapps>\Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake\Game\Binaries\Win64\dsound.dll

3. Go to Dharma Temple / Alltrades Abbey in-game and visit Healizah

4. Select the character you want to change appearance

5. Back out and select the character again- as you do, the appearance options will cycle between vocations: Hero, Warrior, Fighter, etc

6. When you see the vocation appearance you want, select the option you would like

7. On the next screen, select your character's hair color.

8. Select your characters voice & confirm. Afterword, they will appear as your selection:

9. You've successfully changed your character's appearance ✅

*When uninstalling the mod:

1. Your character's appearance will revert back to that of their assigned vocation. (i.e. your Merchant will look like a Merchant again)

2. Your character's personality will appear as [blank]. This is a cosmetic glitch due to how personality info is stored and accessed but should not affect actual gameplay.

You can remediate this by either reading a book or equipping an item to change your character's personality. This will zero-out the extra bytes used by this mod to store the extra appearance data.
