UPDATE - 18 March 2021 - Frosty version of the eyebrow mod available for elf, humans and dwarves only but qunari coming soon. This port was done by Grotesgi who is graciously allowing me to share it here for anyone having DLC issues and who thinks this might help. The dark shaved version had to be recreated from the light shaved version by altering the opacity so it might not 100% match but there was no choice as the original files are long gone (massive data loss years ago) and the files from this version couldn't be extracted from the daimod.

    PROGRAMMING NOTE:

Thanks a lot for taking the time to try and endorse this mod. It means a lot

I'm not so active on the DAI Nexus anymore so I may miss your comments. If you have a burning question however, feel free to PM and I'll get an e-mail to let me know.

    mrjack

Edit: I seem to be getting a lot of comments about this mod crashing the BE or asking if it works with Trespasser.

Yes, the face texture and maybe the qunari brows crash the BE. Nothing I can do about it and it is a known issue. Please read the description.

As for Trespasser, I didn't experience any crashes when I played but the results of other testers seem inconsistent so all I can say is try it and find out.

I'm sorry that this mod isn't perfect but it's a limitation with modding this particular game at the moment.

Hi! I just wanted to say thank you very much for your effort with this mod! I know it's pretty dated at this point and I'm not sure if you'll even read this, but I just wanted to give my appreciation. I saw in an earlier comment you felt sort of underappreciated with the way everyone responded on here. There are a tonne of 'thank yous' in the user image responses too if you hadn't gotten chance to see them. Thank you again and happy ( slightly late) new year!

Thanks for your kind words. I really appreciate it. Almost everyone who comments only has nice things to say. I do get a little frustrated when people don't read the mod description and then blame me for it not working when it's something I can't do anything about. Sometimes I just like to have a sulk because I'm having a day when I think everything I create is crap.

As for the image section, I love it and when I'm having a bad day, I look through all the characters people have created using my mods across three games and it makes me feel so much better. I look at every single one anyone uploads. I haven't really said this before, but if you want to support me but you can't afford to donate, then you can support my mental health by uploading pics to the gallery

Hi! I'm using your Katherine Face Texture and Eyebrows 4 Women. They're so beautiful!

But I'm having a problem. The Katherine Face Texture ends up all blotchy after a few shadow shifts (walking through sunlight, then shade, then sunlight, etc). Particularly in the Hinterlands. I'm using the Frosty versions with Frosty Mod Manager.

The only mods I have loaded that affect character faces are yours and some fixes to try and correct the issue.

I know this is an old game and an old mod, which you're probably not working on any more, but if you happen to see this, I'd appreciate any advice. Your texture and eyebrows are *so* much nicer than the base game.

So, interestingly, I think this is a problem with elf faces. Haven't tried a dwarf with the face texture, but I have currently two parallel saves, one on a human and one on an elf. The human one loads quickly and runs smoothly and I never get these issues. The elf one takes centuries to load, particularly if I have to travel between locations and even fast traveling within the same map (like, between the ground and first level in Val Royeux) takes an agonizing amount of time.

I think the face texture doesn't jive well with elf faces :/

BUT! And this is a big but! Spending time on my save on my human, loading times have generally improved to normal for a SATA SSD and the textures didn't glitch. Loading then over to my elf character, the loading times were still very good, whereas starting the game and loading directly into my elf character I've noticed that the loading times are abysmal and I get the texture fuckups. I don't know if that's actually relevant at all, but I figured it would be important to mention that as well.

Sadly, I do generally hold to what I said, that I don't think this texture is meant to run as well with elf faces. Looking at the male version, the Ciaran texture, from the same modder, there are a few comments of some strange behavior on elf characters, but I don't know if that's indicative at all.

Sadly, because of the loading issues alone, I'll have to look for a different face texture mod for my elf. Again, seems to be fine, and indeed more than fine for human characters

Also, one more thing, check your graphics settings. Some mods for hairs have descriptions that say they require ultra settings for hair to be visible. There could be something similar going on where perhaps textures require ultra or fade touched to be working well? Just spitballing. There are a lot of strange mod-induced behaviors about this game that just never got a proper look into.

Adding a second post because I lost control of my life today it seems :D

I was looking for replacements and stumbled on the Nimue Complexion mod here.

      In the description it states:

      "I've made 3 versions:

      - Nimue Frosty - slot 3. For Frosty. Replaces slot 3 in CC. This version works for HF (and possibly DF). Will work in Trespasser.
      * This will NOT work for EF. If your Inquisitor is an Elf, it'll crash in the Hinterlands (infinite loading), and glitch in the Storm Coast and Val Royeaux. It'll work perfectly fine for HF. This seems to be a problem with Frosty itself. I haven't found a fix for this. *

      - Nimue Frosty - slot 1. For Frosty. Replaces slot 1 in CC. This one will work for EF. And also for HF, and DF. Will work in Trespasser.

      - Nimue daimod. For DAI Mod Manager. Replaces slot 3. Works for HF, EF, and DF. Won't work in Trespasser, but I've included a Trespasser version in the folder."

Assuming what the modder says is true and still valid, and I really don't see why it wouldn't be, there's a very good chance that the problem isn't the texture itself, but that it replaces into slot 3. And yes, I just double checked in the creator, the Katherine face texture is a slot 3 texture in Complexion. That very likely is the culprit for my loading issues as well as our issues with the weird face textures.

Edit: Seeeeeeeeems like Frosty Mod Manager 1.0.6.2 "fixed issues with DAI texture edits." Are you running that version or an earlier one?

Hi! Any idea why the eyebrows don't show up at once? It takes them a bit of time to load after changing area. Very odd. Cheers and thanks for your hard work!

Its weird, when i install the brows, it doesnt look like this on my female elf.

Im trying to either get the 02 or 4 shaved. Using dark with Frosty. I tried changing the color and switching complexions but i can't get any with the "v" or the cuts

Lovely mod, a question though. They are not showing up as brown. The brows are pickable, but they stay the color of whatever the hair color is.

Eyebrows always match the hair colour unless you edit your save or use a mod like Enhanced Character Creation which lets you choose eyebrow colour separately.

I have some issues with Qunari eyebrows. If I use the Frosty version, the eyebrows appear strange... too sharp, or pixelated, or something like that. Using the DAIMOD version fixes that problem, but results in occasional glitches. Can anything be done about it?

The inability to convert this stunning complexion & eyebrows to Frosty is truly a crying shame. I can't play with one face and then be forced to ditch it at some point because of incompatibilities with DLCs, after already getting used to it. No matter which alternative I install for her afterwards, she's just plain ugly compared to this.

What I'm trying to say is: this is the best looking female complexion EVER, and I appreciate the effort for making it. It's just too bad it doesn't work for the entirety of the game.

      I have to agree here.
Tried the ones from Ascendia and while also great it's just not the same.

Here is me hoping i get lucky and this works with Trespasser.

I haven't modded DAI since Frosty was released. Are you saying that Frosty mods solve DLC compatibility and if so what do you mean by "inability to convert"? Has someone tried and been unsuccessful? I worked with Frosty for MEA so I kind of know my way around. If I can find my original files, I could probably rebuild the mod in Frosty if it would help people...

Well, I tried to convert it to use it in my game, but to no avail (I don't have the necessary knowledge), and I surmise that many others tried as well. As Firuu said, I also tried the ones from Ascendia but they just...aren't this mod. To be honest, I'm not a fan of imperfections such as moles and freckles, but that's just personal taste. Also, they bear some particular gameplay problems because some conversions weren't done well.
Frosty can do wonders with textures when done right, I played in all DLCs using Frosty mods without fail.
If you can make the conversion, I assure you, fans of your complexion will be ecstatic

If you don't want to fiddle with Frosty, here's a tip that might be of use:
One version of Moira Complexion which was made for DAIMM works in all DLCs (confirmed!) because it occupies 1st complexion slot on the slider. Sure, 90% of NPCs will have that complexion as well, but I see no harm in having prettier NPCs everywhere. Take a look at it: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/1656
Perhaps you'll be able to pull off the same trick

Hmmm... Well like I said I need to see if I can find the original files. Pulling them out of the mod and then re-compressing them turns the images to s#*! frankly. I backed up a lot of my work before my old PC died on me so I should have them but the external drive they're probably on has just been sitting collecting dust and it might not play nice if I try and fire it back up again.

So no promises but I'll have a poke around and see whats up.

It seems like the eyebrows collide with Enhanced Character Creation or something else is going on, but every time I load a save the brows change their color into some kind of green. Every time I have to remove the mod, load the game, close the game, apply the mod nad load the save.

Haven't heard that from anyone else but if it's a compatibility issue, I have no idea how to fix it. You'd have to check with the other mod author. A lot has changed since I made this mod and I don't actually know how DAI modding works anymore. It's been almost 7 years. Sorry.
