[Dragon Age Inquisition MOD]

Version: 2.1

Use subject: More Loot Version 2.1

SUMMARY
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This mod allows you to configure the games random loot tables and probabilities.
It comes in four versions, though all four are fully customizable and can
achieve the same settings. The only difference is the DEFAULT settings should
you choose not to hit CONFIGURE and customize the mod.

In all versions:

- Enemies drop more loot
- Rare and Common items are just as likely
- Items are limited by the loot source and your level

But the degree of these changes depends on the version:

Minimal:

Enemies are SLIGHTLY more likely to drop loot.
Containers are SLIGHTLY more likely to have loot\gold.
You will find SLIGHTLY more gold on bodies and in containers.
The min\max amounts of crafting materials allowed per container are DOUBLED.

Crafting:

Enemies are MODERATELY more likely to drop loot.
Containers are MODERATELY more likely to have loot\gold.
You will find MODERATELY more gold on bodies and in containers.
The min\max amounts of crafting materials allowed per container are TRIPLED.
All Armor and Weapon Schematics are added to the loot tables
(runes, armors, weapons. A total of 323 loot table changes)

** Schematics and Crafting materials are more likely than other items.

Standard:

Enemies are MUCH more likely to drop loot.
Containers are MUCH more likely to have loot\gold.
You will find MUCH more gold on bodies and in containers.
The min\max amounts of crafting materials allowed per container are TRIPLED.
All Armor and Weapon Schematics are added to the loot tables (runes, armors,
weapons. A total of 323 loot table changes)

Extreme:

9/10 Enemies will drop loot.
Containers will almost always have loot and gold.
You will find so much gold, you will basically be cheating.
The min\max amounts of crafting materials allowed per container are insane.
All Armor and Weapon Schematics are added to the loot tables (runes, armors,
weapons. A total of 323 loot table changes)
All Armors are added to the loot tables (A total of 174 loot table changes).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A. Requirements

Requires a patched version of DAI. If you use an outdated version or have
updates disabled, don't use this mod.

Installing this mod requires the use of the latest DAI Mod Manager which can
be downloaded here:

http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/116

B. Initial Install

The 7z archive includes the files:

MoreLootFlex(flavor)/MoreLootFlex(flavor).daimod

Extract the 7zip archive to a staging area. I recommend creating the
folder:

C:/DAIxtract/mods

And extracting it there.

Then run DAIModManager

- The first time you run it, it will ask you for the location of
DAI. Normally it is located at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\

Once the DAIModManager is running, point the Mod Path at the directory
you extracted the 7zip to

[C:\DAIxtract\mods]

then make sure there is an [X] beside the Official Patch and the mod:

[X] Official Patch
[X] MoreLoot(flavor)

Click the Configure button if you wish to customize settings.
- (Click Save when done)

Click the Merge Button.

Browse to your Dragon Age Inquisuion update folder. Typically:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update

And within it, right click the back ground and create the folder "merged"

NOTE: If the folder already exists, right click to delete it and
create a new merged folder.

Double click the new folder to enter. Your path should look like:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\Update\merged\"

Click [ Save ]

It takes a few minutes. When it is finished, use explorer to
browse to the Updates Directory and rename Patch to Vanilla:

[DAI_HOME]\Update\Patch => [DAI_HOME]\Update\Vanilla

Finally, rename your merged folder to Patch:

[DAI_HOME]\Update\merged => [DAI_HOME]\Update\Patch

** If you have never used mods before, and you want to be
able to disable the mod in the future and still use save games
created while using mods, edit the file:

[DAI_HOME]\Update\Patch\package.mft

Open it with Notepad and change the version to "6". Note: If you have
played the game using other mods while this was set to 7, then dont
change it. (You will know quickly because when you try to load your
save game, it will tell you that it was made with a newer version of
the game and refuse to load. If you see that error, simply change the
version back to 7).

C. Secondary Install

If you have installed other mods or you are upgrading, you will need
to make sure you do a few things before upgrading.

1) Assuming you renamed your Patch folder to vanilla and your Mod
folder to Patch, you will need to undo that change.

[DAI_HOME]\Update\Patch => [DAI_HOME]\Update\merged

[DAI_HOME]\Update\Vanilla => [DAI_HOME]\Update\Patch

2) DELETE the merged folder:

The Mod manager does not clean up between runs. You need to
remove the merged folder and create a new one every time you
run Mod manager to ensure there are no old file artifacts.

3) Delete [ModManagerHome]/Patch.daimod

If more than 24 hours have passed since you last used the
Mod Manager, you should delete the file above to avoid potential
version sync corruption.

4) Only start Modmanager once the Patch directory has been
restored and the Patch.daimod files have been remove.

At this point, follow the directrion in section B above

D. Potential Issues

Some quests require you to find items that are not normally available.
For example, gathering intestines for a Dragon Trap. This mod might
make these quests malfunction because there is so much loot competing
for the space on the creatures carcass that the quest item never gets
a chance to spawn. If you find you can not gather specific ingrediants
for some quests, you may have to disable this mod until the quest has
passed. (See II.B Below to disable).

A. General:

As MoreLoot traverses all the tables in the game, it will not DECREASE
any probability below its original value. So if you set the a Probability
to Low, it will Upgrade a table that is Very_Low, but it will not downgrade
a table that is set to Medium.

You can edit Probabilities in one of two ways.

- You can specify an Increment amount, this will apply a consistent increment
to all probabilities. (Max Probability being VERY_HIGH).

- You can specify a Minimum probability through the various Override Boxes.
Again, MoreLoot does not downgrade probabilities. It will only increase
them.

- You can do both. Note if you specify a minimum override, the increment will
not be applied to tables that match that category (moreLoot doesn't do both)

B. Details:

- Override Drop Probability

What is the probability that enemies will drop loot when they die?
Unlike the other overrides, this is not necessarily associated with
an item type. It is still afffected by Increment Probabilities when
a minimum is not set.

- Increment Probabilities

Increases the probability of any items without an override by the
specified amount, not to exceed the probability "Very High".

- Gold Probability

What is the likelyhood of an enemy dropping gold or a chest
containing gold? Note this does not say "Override" and is
not affected by the Incremenet Probabilities value.

- Gold Quality

How much gold should you see when most creatures drop gold?
MED_1XX means some value in the 1 hundreds, likely near
the value 150.

- Override Armor Probability

What is the minimum probability that Armor will appear in your loot?

- Override Weapon Probability

What is the minimum probability that Weapons will appear in your loot?

- Override Jewelry Probability

What is the minimum probability that Accessories like rings and amulets
will appear in your loot?

- Override Valuable Probability

What is the minimum probability that Values will appear in your loot?

- Override Upgrade Probability

What is the minimum probability that upgrades like weapon pommels and
staff blades will appear in your loot?

- Override Material Probability

What is the minimum probability that crafting materials like samite
silk, cotton and even potion ingrediants like DawnLotus will appear
in your loot?

- Override Schematic Probability

What is the minimum probability that armor and weapon schematics will
appear in your loot?

- Use Material Quantity Overrides

This checkbox indicates if the following two input boxes should be
ignored. When unchecked, crafting amounts are unchanged. When checked,
crafting amounts are updated if the original values are less than the
specified values.

- Override Material Min Quantity

In theory, it should enforce a minimum number of matieral objects to
appear in loot. In practice, this value seems to be ignored.

- Override Material Max Quantity

The maximum number of stacked material objects that can appear in a
single container. This value seems to be honored.

- Add Extra Stuff

Depending on the settings, the config script swaps in some edited tables
with additional items in them. Your options are "Weapons_and_armor" and
"Schematics".

As of version 2.1, "Schematics" inludes only weapon and armor schematics.
(I skipped adding schematics for things like upgrades). And
"Weapons_And_Armor" in fact only adds extra armors. (Weapons are on my
todo list for the next release).

What is "Boost Override Weights"

Loot selection happens in 2 phases. A chest may be linked to an armor table,
a weapon table and a valuables table. First phase, the chest looks at the
tables global probabilities to decide which ones get to add things to the
chest. Global probabilities look like "Very_low", "Medium" and "Very_high".

In the end, there will be some winners. But which items from the tables
get selected? And this is where WEIGHT comes in.

Every item has a weight. The game randomly chooses an item, but the choice
is influence by the items weight. If item A has a weight of 1 and Item
B has a weight of 2, it is like having a bucket with 3 things in it. Two
item Bs and 1 Item A. You randomly select one index, but B has a higher
probability of success.

One thing MoreLoot does as it traverses the tables is it changes all the
Weights to 1. So any item has an equal opportunity of appearing.

So now that I have told you what WEIGHT is, what does Boost Override
Weights do? It not only changes the probabilities of the tables, it
also changes the weights of the items within the table based on the
probability.

So if "Override Material Probability" is Low, but "Override Schematic
Probability" is Very High, then the Materials will get a weight of 1,
but Schematics will get a weight of 4. If Materials had been VERY_LOW,
they would have gotten a weight of 1 and Schematics would have gotten
a weight of 5.

So, Boost override weights emphasises the difference between your
most probable and least probable items. In the example above, it would
create an extreme bias for schematics.

- Log Verbose

For people who like to see the details. Also for debugging if users
see crashes, I can look at the log output and get an idea of why it
might be happening.

III. > > > > UnInstall\Disable
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A. Simple

The simple method is to restore you old Patch folder:

[DAI_HOME]/Update/Patch => [DAI_HOME]/Update/merged
[DAI_HOME]/Update/Vanilla => [DAI_HOME]/Update/Patch

If you followed the advice in the installation instructions and changed
the package.mft, then things will just work.

B. Advanced

If you have other mods, then restore your Vanilla patch folder, run the
DAIModManager and generate a new merged folder with this mod unchecked.
Rename the merged folder to Patch like you did during installation.

C. Faking it

If you did not change the version in your package.mft and you wish to
uninstall all mods, but still want to be able to use old save games,
then restore your Vanilla Patch folder and edit the package.mft file
and increase the version to 7.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A. Compatibility

This mod is only tested with the single player campaign. I have no idea
what impact it might have on multiplayer if any. (I would guess all
machines involved would need the same mod set installed, but that is
unconfirmed)

This mod edits the random loot tables. The game also includes static
loot containers and tables. Mods which edit static resource should not
conflict with this, however mods that edit the general purpose random
loot tables will conflict.

If the Mod Manager offers a means of settting priority, I would recommend
giving other mods priority over this one. This mod edits pretty much every
loot table, so if it doesn't get ownership of a few, no big deal.

B. Technical (For Developers)

How did I make this mod? I downloaded the DAI Modding Tool from here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzqpBc4MrAMXOEdmTTNxejhUR3M/view

(Requires 64 bit OS and DX11 compatible card)

Opened/Exported the resource:

da3 -> equipment -> loot ...

Open up EVERY Loot Table instance, clicked Preview and changed the
Probabilities for items and gold. I also increased gold amounts and
in some cases added items and recipes to categories.

NOTE: There are two modding tools in development. The other one is
named DAI Tool and can be downloaded here. It has different abilities.
