This mod significantly reduces the number of ocularum and shards in the game, and reduces the number of shards necessary to open all doors in Solasan in the Forbidden Oasis.

This is a Frosty mod! It works with Frosty Mod Manager 1.0.5.9 and above. I don't really have time to learn how to make DAIMOD files at this time, I'm sorry.

About the Mod

If you're like me (and still hanging around here in 2021!), you've probably played this game several times through. Who has time to collect 114 shards? (Or 126 if you include the Jaws of Hakkon DLC?)

This mod leaves only one oculara per zone and removes a significant number of shards from the game. Each zone only has two or three shards left to find, making for a fun treasure hunt instead of a chore! I removed the shards that were in particularly annoying locations, so no more awkward scrambling up rocks or fighting high dragons to finish this quest. You won't see the missing ocularum or shards on your map, either. (If you do, you might be running another mod that is incompatible; see compatibility notes below.)

(I also left something in place of the missing ocularum and a few of the shards I thought were in particularly cool locations.)

With this mod, there are 19 shards left in the base game, which is now the exact number you need to open all doors in Solasan, in the Forbidden Oasis:

Front Entrance: Was 6, now 1
First Doors (The Spirit Calmed, The Cold Endured, The Fire Captured): Was 6, now 1
Second Doors: Was 12, now 2
Third Doors: Was 18, now 3

If you have the Jaws of Hakkon DLC, there is a version of the mod that also removes the extra ocularum and all but 2 of the shards from the Frostback Basin, and the door for The Mysteries of Winter quest now only requires 2 shards to enter.

And finally, there's the original version that only reduced the number of shards needed to enter Solasan, but does not remove any ocularum or shards from the game.

Please install only one of these mods, as they may conflict with each other!

I tested this pretty darned thoroughly, but please let me know in the comments if you run into any problems at all!

Can I use this mod if I'm partway through a playthrough?

Yep! If you've already collected some shards, the number you have won't change. But otherwise, you'll still stop seeing the extra shards and ocularum and can collect any of the 19 you may have missed.

Compatibility/Known Incompatibilities

Tweaks the file Systems/Plot/PlotConfiguration - won't work with other mods that affect the same file. See 'Known Incompatibilities' below.

Per user 45tg67se: "This mod is not compatible with <Configurable Increased Inventory Capacity 2019 update>, not a big deal... just use this mod to unlock all the doors, disable it and go back and collect all the goodies from the temple."

Versions that remove shards/oculara from the game:

Edits to all viewskulls files and several map files. Won't work with mods that tweak the map, like <Collectables Map Pins> or <No More Fog of War>.
