I love the idea of this, but I can't make it work! The only two mods I have installed are Solas with hair and Nipuni Solas wig. Both mods work individually, but when I try and load both at once I get an infinite loading screen. Am I doing something stupid here? I just want solas to be pretty :(

Oh dear. I have good news and bad news.

Bad: I can't discern why, but Nipuni's mod seems to not play well with mine when it's imported into Frosty. I'm sorry.

Good: They do work fine together if you keep Nipuni's mod as a daimod, applied with daimod mod manager, and then launch the game/my mod through Frosty. Here's a guide on how to do that if you don't know already.

Thank you for letting me know.

Just an fyi that the Venatori earring daimod works just fine with my mod when imported into Frosty.

Awesome mod! Very inspiring, I'm hoping you can maybe help me out a little. I'm trying to make a custom version of this using your fbproject as a guideline, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong or what I'm missing. I'm still quite new when it comes to Frosty.

My intention is to have a custom earring mesh that shows up everywhere. I've modeled it and tested it out with this mod, with my mesh also replacing the Venatori helmet, and it does show up in the CC! Unfortunately the mesh is all warped which I know has to do with the kind of mesh it replaces, I read somewhere it's best to use the The Divine helmet for these sort of things - that's the helmet Cassandra/Vivienne wears in Trespasser if they're made Divine.

So I studied your fbproject, trying to take note of everything you changed. Made a new project, imported my mesh replacing the Divine helmet (located in da3_dlc_blue/factions/orlais/appearnces/uni_hf_praetorian_epc01a/models/uni_hf_praetorian_epc01a_helm_model_mesh and it's not even funny how long it took me to find this thing), added the part_type_helmet to the EquipmentTypes, and the part_app that I think goes with this helmet (it's the only one I could find, da3/Equipment/Appearances/Armors/Heavy/Helmets/dlcblue_part_app_armor_heavy_helmet_divine) to the armors I want the earring seen on (all light armors + formal and PJs for male elf).

My game doesn't crash when load it with these changes but my earring doesn't show up in CC, so I'm definitely missing something or did something wrong but I have no idea what. My guess it has something to do with the fact that the Divine helmet is only for NPC human female but I don't know where to go from here. Do you have ANY advice to give? Any help you can offer? I'd really appreciate it, it took me two days to model this thing (total blender noob) and I'm gonna be very sad if I can't use it lol.

Have you tested whether your mesh imported correctly on a test human female NPC?

It's been a while since I've worked with this mod/Frosty, and I'd need to refresh myself better on how I made this mod, but it sounds like you're taking all the right steps otherwise.

I'd like to be able to help, but in case it's a mesh importing issue, that's unfortunately a bit beyond me. The folks over at the DAI modding discord are great and I highly recommend posting there: https://discord.com/invite/wzJG7Mq. You can tag me as well (same username as here).

Weirdly, the earring isn't showing up in cutscenes- but the mod clearly is working somewhat, because I'm using the EM reversed, and it does show up on the opposite ear. I'm not sure what's up with that, or what others mods would interfere only with the cutscene aspect. I do need the "hide helmet" button to be unchecked for it to show up, so clearly it's still a helmet somehow, but again, on a different side than if I just had Misc Armor Edits.
If you have a solution, rad! If not, no pressure lol.

Hm, it should show up in cutscenes since the earring "helmet" piece is just pasted to all the armors in the game, so I'd like to help you troubleshoot.

      - Are you seeing the earring on your character OUTSIDE of cutscenes okay?
      - Are your set mesh quality settings to ultra?
      - Are you using any mods that edit armors/helmets? Have you tested my mod without them active?
      - Do you have both components of the mod installed-- you need the fbmod and an imported daimod?
      - Which cutscene(s) are affected-- all of them, only Skyhold/Haven, etc.?
      - What's your Inquisitor wearing for armor/helmet?
      - Please tell me the race/sex of your Inquisitor, and which version of the mod you're using

Hey, Thanks so much for this mod!! I was wondering if it was possible to add a version for HM Left ear? (HM Reverse?)

It's possible, but unfortunately I'm not willing to do it-- I'm sorry, but mesh editing is difficult and time-consuming for me. You'd need to use Blender or another similar program to edit the mesh.

Hi, I was wondering if someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

The cutscenes are absolutely fine but my inquisitor is stuck with a venatori helmet on outside of cutscenes.

I don't know that I have the wrong file from 'Misc Armor Edits'. I installed their 'Venatori Earring - EF.daimod'. I also don't think it's conflicting with an armor mod. I only have a Pj Replacer daimod and a formal wear replacer daimod installed. Could it be because I have a 'Custom Body Models' mod installed?  Or perhaps does this mod conflict with 'Isabela Piercings for the Inquisitor'?

Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated!

Oh that is strange. I'd like to figure it out!

Just checking, you have an EF inquisitor, and you're definitely seeing the modded earring mesh in the cutscenes? (Ie it's not just invisible.)

What location(s) are you in that you're seeing the helmet?

Can you check the conflicts tab in your Frosty Mod Manager and let me know if anything is there?

set mesh quality settings to ultra, also yeah don't use this mod at same time as isabela piercings, because they edit the same files

question, if I want my Inquisitor and Dorian to have earings I only need that optional file "All earring + Dorian.fbmod", not both main and optional downloads... right? :)

You'll need that file, plus you'll need to import 2 daimods from chasindcole's mod: the earring mesh for Dorian, and the earring mesh for your Inquisitor. If you have an HM inquisitor, I think you'll just need to use the Dorian file, because they'll override each other.

Hey I didn't test this yet but I am confused on smth so I wanted to ask a question. You said this allows you to wear Venatori earring with any other helmet. but Venatori earing replaces Venatori helmet. do you not have to equip it in your armor menu as a helmet? and if I do than how can I equip another additional helmet? :)

My mod just pastes the Venatori helmet mesh onto every body armor onto the game.

chasindcole's mod edits the Venatori helmet mesh into an earring.

Using both together means it looks like an earring mesh has been added onto all the body armors in the game. The earring looks like it's never unequipped when you change armor because it's on every armor + the wardrobe PJs.

Equipping a helmet will apply the helmet mesh to your character as per vanilla. So that means helmet + earring since your character will always be wearing some sort of armor/PJs with a helmet. Some of the earless helmet meshes can look a little funky on elves with my mod, but I was willing to put up with that.

It's been so long since I last edited this mod (and I'm using a different version with some customizations for my own tastes) that I think I played with the appearance mesh files of the Venatori helmet to make its appearance not change when equipped to your companions. I think the mesh edit does apply when equipping a Venatori helmet to the Inquisitor (so on just the Inquisitor the Venatori helmet item will look like an earring that you can tint). I hope that makes sense.

oh that is great I get it now!!! great workaround cant wait to try it out, will post pics :) thank you for amazing work!
I use another two mods that make the Dread Helmet look like a circlet so I hope they will all play well together :)

Where are you getting that error? Frosty mod manager?

You'll need to unzip the downloaded mod files and either manually place the .fbmod file into your Frosty Mod Manager mods folder, or click the import button on the FMM to import the unzipped file.

Hi, if it's not too much to ask, would you be able to make a daimod version of the main mod?

Potentially mostly doable, but I don't know to remove the shadow from the edited helmet mesh's... metadata, for lack of a better word, in the Daimod Maker. What that means is that with the earring on, you'll get black bars across your character's face at particular angles/light levels, because the shadow from the original Venatori helmet mesh is hanging around.

With the understanding that I may not be able to fix that (I can try, but no guarantees), please lmk if you'd like me to do the daimod conversion.

Why does the Qunari male earring float and move around the ear? I don't have that problem with others like the human male character.

Oh dear. It might an issue with the original mesh.

If you try using just chasindcole's mod alone for QM, and equip the modded Venatori helmet, does it have the same issue?

I'm not far enough in the game to get the helmet yet. I just sped through a main quest that apparently is supposed to unlock a shop where I can buy the helmet, but the shop didn't show up. So I feel like I'm wasting time.  Will check back later when I further in the game.

I'll try to check when I get some time. I've unfortunately been a little swamped with work. Since Qunari don't normally have appearance data for helmets, I swapped elven appearances for Qunari ones. Unfortunately I just checked the meshes in the character creation screen and didn't move around so I didn't notice that issue. I can see what I can do if the problem is from how I adapted the Qunari mesh, but if it's an issue with the original mesh, my actual mesh editing skills are... zero.

So from your first suggestion the modded Venatori helmets from chasindcole's mod alone can't be equipped by Qunari. I think that mod did some elven appearance data trick with the qunari as well. I tried inquiring about it over on that modpage, but got blocked lol. So I don't care anymore, and neither should you.
      Thanks for the help though

Sorry this took me so long to look into. The fault was mine. I think importing the original earring mod's mesh onto the EF mesh was messing things up for QM. Porting the mesh onto the EM mesh and swapping the appearance hashes in my mod fixed things. Mod works for QM correctly now.
