About this mod

If you're a completionist/perfectionist/whatever and feeling incredibly unlucky with the creature research drops, and you MUST get that increase damage boost or see that little yellowish bar fill up nice and full whenever you go into your codex... well, this is for you.

Permissions and credits
I don't know how many hours I spent slaughtering innocents nugs or reloading to before a boss battle because that last dragon didn't let go of its gland and give it to me!  There are a few other mods that do the exact same thing, but I could never tell if they were working for me or not - and I was too shy to ask for permission to peruse their mod files. So! I decided to do some of my own dabbling and this is the result.

That being said, this is my first mod. Like. Ever. So, I don't know all the finer details of modding but I'm willing to give it a try; and if anyone is willing to give me tips then I would truly appreciate it. On that note, if there are problems, please let me know!

Right now, the mod I've uploaded is called Improved Research RNG +10%. All farmable creatures with research drops have an extra 10% of drop probability. ie. 25% (default) = 35% (mod), 10% (default) = 20% (mod). I'm considering doing other versions of this mod for anyone who is interested in a higher drop probability. Please let me know what you think.

!!! Frosty only. (+10% available for Frosty v5.9 and v6.0 Alpha.)

!!! New game install. (Having done some initial testing, some drops got an increase when installed on a saved game but not all. For best results, new game install is recommended.)

!!! This mod does not increase loot drop rate probability. It affects the % of a research drop being included in the loot.

Edit 25/02/2022: I have uploaded an optional mod that allows you to sell or destroy any research items, in case you have too many and it causes problems when you turn them in. I have also uploaded another mod that increases base % by 50%.

Some notes I've discovered while doing this:

  • Giants do not have a research drop despite there being a research text located in its codex entry (according to the wiki).
  • Regarding Mabari drops, from my experience they only appear before you deal with the Blades of Hessarian on the Stormcoast; for all mabari if I recall, even in other areas. I had spent hours farming them during one playthrough after I'd done the Blades and not a single drop.
  • There's a bug where Lurker Claws do not show up in your inventory when you get them. I think I may have fixed it, but please let me know.
If you want a full list of the creatures, their old and their new drop probability, it's listed below.
