EDIT 01/10/2018: Updated my hair tutorial to correct outdated information.
EDIT 26/09/2018: Added my own tutorial for NPC hair swaps using a similar method. Happy modding!

Armour Tutorial is by electricfish, I'm simply uploading by their request. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the process in the comments tab!

Bottom line, in order to make an armour wearable you'll need three things: the unibody skinnedmeshasset, which will probably be in either actors or factions; the bundle containing this mesh, which will be in an area where the npc appears, and the superbundle, which will be the directory to that area. If you have those three things you can make the armour wearable for an Inquisitor of the same race/gender combination.

Credit goes to mummmm for originally working out this method, and electricfish for figuring out/translating the process.

My armour swapping mods so far:

Live Like Flemeth
Live Like the Viddasala

Body-Swap Mod Guide

  • Use an invisible armour mod or don’t wear armour over it to avoid clipping disasters. Some replacers may also replace Prologue and Var1/2/3 armours (the basic vanilla Inquisitor armours), others may only replace the unequipped pyjamas.
  • NPC armours can only be equipped on the same race and gender combinations as the NPC. If it only appears on HF, it can only be worn on HF.
  • Body-swap modding is still in a very early stage, not everything is possible yet, each armour is a lot of tedious work. Some armours crash the game, some don't work outside Skyhold, we don't know why this is yet. Please be patient + polite about requests.
  • Frosty only, this method of modding is not compatible with DAITools. To use with .daimods, simply do the switcharound - make a backup of the vanilla Patch file, merge your daimods as usual, rename the modded patch as Patch and replace the vanilla one with it, then load up Frosty, apply your mods and launch the game.
  • Non-tintable. It is possible to make these armours tintable, but it's a lot of extra work, and I'd rather make as many armours available as possible.
  • These mods are compatible with retextures/recolours of NPC armours. :^)
  • Before making a request, take a look at electricfish's NPC Armour Mod tutorial and consider making the mod yourself! Modding is fun and this method is currently too tedious for one person to make every armour wearable.
  • Enjoy and feel free to submit pictures of your NPC Inquisitors! Kudos/comments appreciated if you like the mod.
