Hey all! I wanted to give a big thank you to everyone that has supported me. It took some time, but I'm finally employed full-time. Unfortunately, I won't be making any more mods for DAI, but I do look forward to modding the next Dragon Age. Hope to see some of you then.
And to those of you having issues getting my mods to work, try the following:
Go your game folder, where Dragon Age Inquisition is installed. One way to get there is to right-click on the game's shortcut icon (the one you click to launch the game), click on 'Properties' and then click on 'Open File Location.' When there, look for the 'Update' folder. Inside that folder is another folder called 'Patch.' Within the 'Patch' folder is a file called 'package.' Right-click that file and open it with Notepad. Where it says 'Version 11,' you change that to 'Version 12.' Save and close. You should now be able to run mods that require 'Patch 12.'
Confirming that IT DOES NOT WORK with GOTY edition and Frosty 1.0.6.3. Also screws up Inquisitor and companion hair mods for some reason.
EDIT: It does work, but it requires a few extra steps. Add it to Frosty, apply it, then launch through Frosty. When you get to main menu, immediately exit the game, then launch the game through Frosty Fix.
Does anyone have an idea whether this would be possible to do without a mod manager? I would love to have a closer camera for my steam deck playthrough, but I don't think I'll be able to get a mod manager up and running on this.
Honestly just use DAI mod manager on your PC then transfer the merged patch files over to your steamdeck installation (if you did it on your internal drive this will be in your main game folder which will be in compatdata somewhere). Then go in your update folder in your steam deck, find the folder called "Patch" and rename it so you have a clean back up then name your merged patch files "Patch".
This mod is glitching for me with DAI , after a few seconds the camera just randomly jumps somewhere else and I need to rotate myself to find myself back again. Quite annoying Edit: FIXED - it was actually caused by an added line in the run parameters
Thought I'd leave a comment in case anyone else, like me, had a hard time figuring out how to install this mod/mod dragon age for the first time years after this was published. I downloaded the no zoom version and (mostly) followed along with this article, and its working exactly as intended. It's a bit long, so I'm just going to copy-paste the steps I used here.
I ended up using the Frosty Mod Manager . The instructions in the article include a step to create a folder for Frosty in the DA:I game files, but I had no problem just cutting/pasting the unzipped folder from downloads.
On Frosty:
Find the Dragon Age: Inquisition game file, usually in the Origin folder on the drive the game was installed. (I have the game through steam, so instead right clicked on DA:I --> properties --> local files --> browse)
In the same drive, create a new folder called Frosty Mod Manager.
Download the Frosty Mod Manager (Ignore the Tool Suite) and navigate to the download location on the computer.
Unzip the file into the Frosty Mod Manager folder.
Double click the Frostymodmanager.exe file to open the application.
Click New.
In the resulting dialog box, select DragonAgeInquisition.exe from the game folder and click Open.
Click Dragon Age: Inquisition in the Select Configuration window. Click Select. A Mod Manager window should appear. Leave it open.
Download a mod and navigate to the download location on the computer. Drag and drop the full zip folder into the Mod Manager.
Double-click the mod to apply it to the game. If it has been applied correctly, it will appear in the Applied bar on the right side of the Mod Manager with a checkmark.
Click Launch to begin playing the game with the mod installed.
Players will want to note that they need to launch the game from the Frosty mod manager each time in order for the mods to work properly.
not really all mods work well in frosty, if you using .daimod textures or character appearances you should be only using them in DAIMM, they don't work well in frosty and tend to give textures glitches, you can still use both Frosty + DAIMM just merge the files, for other type of mods won't matter which mod manager you choose.
