Requirements
Permissions and credits
These mods switch around the Focus abilities for Inquisitor and companion specializations. These mods can be used for both new and existing saves.

  • Assassins now have Thousand Cuts.
  • Artificers now have Cloak of Shadows.
  • Tempests now have Hail of Arrows.

Thousand Cuts magically makes your archer rogues into shadowy knifey-shivdarks, and given the focus of stealth and Hidden Blades already being a thing, I thought it would work well under the Assassin tree. Yes, it's already very similar to Hidden Blades, but it's a reasonable next step "heat of the moment" battlefield ability.

Cloak of Shadows is something Artificers could feasibly do by way of trap distraction, smoke bomb triggers, Chameleon's Breath, etc. Part of the Artificer flavor text is "Neither they nor their explosive mines are ever where the enemy expects them to be." Many passives already give party members an advantage, so why not step it up with party stealth that also fits flavor?

Hail of Arrows (while still a bow-only skill) takes advantage of the chaotic nature of Tempests due to doubling Archery skills, especially Leaping Shot and Explosive Arrows which already have the potential to hit multiple enemies. Smash a flask and rain death with Hook and Tackle and Leaping Shot.

By request, I've added mage options for both Inquisitors and companions. Rift Mage did not get an ability change.

  • Necromancers now have Resurgence.
  • Knight-Enchanters now have Haste.

Resurgence specifically states that a mage calls on beneficial spirits to heal your party, and while dealing with spirits is not specifically related to a specialization, the Necromancer is the most adept and most logical choice when dealing with spirits. Spirit pieces raise the dead, wisps deal damage, and other spirits create a simulacrum of the mage. By extension, a Necromancer should have experience with many types of non-hostile spirits, including ones that heal.

Haste a little bit weird in Inquisition, but fits a Knight-Enchanters strengths very well. Combat Clarity passives indicate that a KE is comfortable in fast-paced melee combat. Their expertise is in defense and protecting others, and while healing is good, it's also a much more "passive" ability than a front-line warrior could afford to do. Haste benefits the entire party and ensures everyone lives to fight another day by killing things faster and more safely due to increased reaction time.

*Ridiculous Optional Files*
Under the "Misc." category, two files alter Rift Mage and the general "Inquisitor" ability tree. Yes, you can still use Aegis, etc. even with Firestorm.

One file simply replaces Solas' Focus ability with Mark of the Rift. Yes, he does perform the animation with the hand.
One file switches the Rift Mage and general "Inquisitor" tree Focus abilities. Meaning all Inquisitors can now call down meteors and Rift Mage Inquisitors can now use Mark of the Rift as their focus ability.

I don't have any good reason for making Firestorm the general Inquisitor ability other than simply not wanting to lose it. I placed these two files in a separate category because they're kind of silly and I have no idea how the game will react the first time you gain the MotR ability
