for Dalls_Gear - (DA2) Warrior

v1.6

11/11/2011

Warrior is Dragon Age 2 new-items mod which adds to your inventory quite large number of desirable (fit for Warrior / Knight) arms, accessories n armor.

Dalls_Gear (my player class - equipment series) delivers to you new (not in game) equipment (arms, armors n accessories) - simply said all those necessities you have always wanted to have but could not - as Bioware has chosen not to include / make them so. Only best (DA2) models were used, most of them (arms n armor) are self levelling and they all are well specified / liberally enchanted to be better / more powerful then luck-lustre game offers - so if you like them - they can be used from begging to the end of game.

All of you who are familiar with my Dalls_Gear (DAO) mods will probably have fair idea what this mod stands for but for sake of all others which are not - let me explain it in - detail.

You will get following items:

01/ Six enchanted - heavy (massive) armor sets
02/ Five enchanted - heavy helmets
03/ Three enchanted - (two-handed) Great-swords
04/ Four enchanted - (one-handed) Long-swords
05/ One enchanted - (two-handed) Great-axe
06/ One enchanted - (two-handed) Maul
07/ One enchanted - (one-handed) Mace
08/ One enchanted - (one-handed) Axe
09/ Four enchanted - (dual - wield) Long-blades - read - proper Long-swords
10/ Four enchanted - heavy shields
11/ Two enchanted - amulets
12/ Two enchanted - belts
13/ Four enchanted - rings

There are two versions of this mod: one with (my) textures (posted pictures) and other one without any - chose whichever you like better. If you have these arms n armor / their textures (via some other mod/s) installed or if you already have my (texture mods) Real Champion, Knight, Viscount, Villains n Weapons - I would recommend Warrior version without textures - otherwise it is all up to you.

To use this mod you need to have access to game console - if so - type command: "runscript dalls_warrior" without quotes (quotation marks) and you will get my lot straight into your inventory. If you need / want to get something in-there, more then once just repeat above procedure but as you will receive quite a few (inventory) items (20+) - keep in mind that you need to have enough free slots / inventory!*

* Standard by game set low - Max_items - number can be changed in your character (game) save/s to anything you like so if you like to have loads of choices in your inventory - set your inventory size accordingly before any big or repeated runscript (mod) item call/s. This (size) change needs to be done only once (per PC / your M/F character) and all your consequent saves will keep it.

To install navigate to your BioWare game folder - one in Your Documents \BioWare\Dragon Age 2 and drag n drop / copy - paste my Dragon Age 2 (mod) folder there. Allow overwrite. That is all you need to do.

If you don't like these new items, simply delete / remove Dalls_Gear_Warrior.erf file from BioWare\Dragon Age 2\packages\core\override\

Bugs/conflicts: none known. Arms n armor re-textures like all other I make are aimed at / will work best with (game) GAMMA Video settings in-between 1.7 - 2.4!

Note on v1.1: Problem with disappearing items (v1.0) fixed! I would recommend clean-save in-between versions. Dump (faulty) v1.0 > get into game without it > save > get out and install v1.1. This is not essential step but it would be wise one - as in long run, clean saves are always preferable to anything else.

Note on v1.2: Some items (new arms n armor) added with some minor stats changes. If you have, previous version / (warrior) items in your inventory and you don't want doubling of these items - consider use of clean-save method - see it above. Regardless of your decision, you will need to use "runscript dalls_warrior" command again - to get this new version (with added items) delivered into your inventory.

Note on v1.3:Contains some minor (GUI) fixes, new weapon (Meredith's Lirium Idol Great-sword) and new - better balanced - item statistics. Otherwise similar to previous version. To get these "new" items (if you have previous version) you need to use "runscript dalls_warrior" command again! You'll have two choices: one is to keep v1.2 items (with previous statistics) as second set or to delete / lose them altogether. For "keep them" choice, you don't need to do anything special other then to install new v1.3 - for "get rid of them" sell them (if you want coin) ;) or delete / destroy them before or after (makes no difference) v1.3 install n new runscript call. Regardless of version - if you have one - un-install (v1.1/1.2) it manually as v1.3 won't overwrite it!

Note on v1.4: New arms n armor added. Probably the most interesting part will be two Dragon "daggers" - big n mean longswords which can be used with all game dual-wield techniques. As some item IDs and stats have been changed (if you have previous version) - clean-save install* is recommended.

*clean-save: remove previous Dalls_Gear_Warrior.erf > get into game without it n save > get out and install new (mod) version and you are ready to go / use it again

Note on v1.5: This update is a bit of exclusive as it brings to player / his use armor combo which is usually seen only in one scene - namely so-called Stark-heaven (Grey) Warden's Armor. In my version, its purpose was elevated from Warden to Princess n Royal Bodyguard (name) moniker but regardless of this it still one of best Bioware model combos and as such, it should be nice addition to any male Warriors armory. Female version (of this armor) is much more flexible as far as use goes as "Princess" like any other real - life Princess can be whatever she wishes to be. ;) And there is another (new) set of dual-wield long - sword - daggers to finish this fit-for-Royal Ferelden update. I would recommend use of version with textures as Bioware ones leave a lot to be desired but that is (as usually) up to you.

Note on v1.6: To finish my present Royal / Noble - borne (Knight / Warrior) line-up - new / not in main game - Arms n Armors (M/F armor, shield n longsword/sabre) models with new textures - fit (only) for Royals have been made n used. So if you have ever wondered about being - or at least looking as - proper medieval / DA2 Royal - finally you can do it (in DA2) for real! ;) If your character is, male and you want to stretch this being - Royal (RPG) fantasy a bit further - check my Viscount / his Home - wear kit as well.

Enjoy!

Thanks to BioWare for new game.

*Note on posted mod info-pictures: My items and other re-textures go way beyond anything, (allowed) web pictures can represent with any fidelity as they are too small to do that properly so refrain from "wise" comments based on (only) them. This (picture based) comments serve no real (community) purpose and are quite meaningless to me. Or to put it simply - Your game will show them (my re-textures) in their full (glorious n abridged) detail while your web-browser (its in-built picture viewer) - won't!

Bad re-textures and really great ones in posted (small n low resolution) info - only pictures in practice look almost the same and all of you who are diligently shopping n buying "good" re-texture mods based only on them are doing themselves ill favour. My (posted) pictures are intended to be honest, fully-exposed game-face of what is really there (in any game regardless of your video GAMMA settings). They are same or very similar to original (Bioware) creative art-work used for making of DA2 and as such, they might be for some too brutal and harsh (game-making) reality. If you don't know how to meaningfully read or interpret them - don't blame me for it. Try my (art) work for real - in the game and only then make / pass your judgement / post your comment.

Game mods being one of very few things still left nowadays to be actually free (to have n use at your discretion without any material cost) deserve (at least) that much of goodwill.

Of course, all this is relevant only if you care how your game actually looks / can look and you are able to see / comprehend what lies beyond simple colour variations and obvious / different (item) models.
