for Dalls - Weapon Swaps

v1.3

Dalls Weapon Swaps is small Weapon Meshes (swap models) support Mod which replaces a few to me not interesting DA 2 weapons with some others - better (in-game) ones. This mod is something I have made for my own test textures-use and as such, it is based on my own personal taste and my visual n play needs. In my opinion, these models are nicer and better suited to purpose (my original objective was look of high-end / unique / must have in-game weapons), then bunch of to me ugly n unwieldy "dogs" Bioware has "carefully chosen" for us to have as accomplishment / level prize.

Intended for use (for full benefit) with my Weapons (model re-textures) mod but it will work (mostly) fine without it as well.

To install you need to unpack Dalls_Weapon_Swaps and copy/paste or drag-n-drop my Dragon Age 2 (mod) folder on your Documents \BioWare\Dragon Age 2 folder. Allow overwrite.

If unhappy for whatsoever reason my Dalls_Weapon_Swaps.erf file can be found in your Documents folder: (\BioWare\Dragon Age 2\packages\core\override\)

Bugs / problems: None known to me but keep in the mind that these files are replacing / overriding standard core files and if you install "new" ones which affect same files they will clash!

One small advice: This is friendly suggestion for all that like / know how to use game console and do not mind cheating / bending restrictions and some silly rules game makers so love to impose on us their lowly users. ;)

If you want to see / use these weapons in your game sooner then game - play will allow it you need to have / obtain two must-have DA 2 mods.

First, of these two is multy restriction remover by name Item_Restrictions_Removed (can be found at Bioware Social Site).

Second, one is called Vaddin (can be found at Bioware Social Site) and in practice is search-for and add-to-player items mod. Works brilliantly but original explanation how to use it leaves more then a bit to be desired thus this explanation.

There are two scripts "vaddi" and "vaddin". "Vaddi" searches item file names while vaddin searches for actual names items have in game - like Bloodletter, Cold Blooded, Raider Sword...

DA 2 uti files - item files naming looks like this:

gen_im_wep_war_one_act2_04.uti
gen_im_wep_rog_arc_act3_04.uti
gen_im_wep_mag_sta_act1_04.uti

Once you install Vaddin after mandatory "runscript" and "vaddi" all you have to type in is something like "arc" and you will get all bows in game to choose from. If you type "rog", "war" or "mag" you'll get everything specifically aimed for that class. "One" is 1H weapons, "two" is 2H weapons, "sta" is for staves and "dua" is for daggers.

Use:

Free to use but if used for mod making some (small) ;) credit is expected.

Note on v1.1: As I have had more time to find what I really like and even more what I intensely dislike in DA2 smorgasbord (weapons/shields) offering there is now even more swamps there. I am sorry but as it would be very impractical for me to chase down and record for you each and every swamp made try it in game and if you are missing some of your favourites dump it. I believe that you will be better off with it then without it but that is just my personal opinion so as before it's up only to you.

Note on v1.2: Very similar to v1.1 (only few new staves) but Vigilance (two-hand sword) was swapped for (final Act) Meredith's Lirium Idol two-hander - the most "evil" sword in game! ;) Intended as all others to be used with my Weapons mod but it will work with game / other textures as well.

Note on v1.3: This update is a bit more specific then any previous ones - as it is primary intended to work well with my latest Weapons (model re-textures) mod. Some herein included model files have been somewhat tweaked and re-adjusted for it. Regardless of this and considering truckloads of very wired rubbish Bioware has left there, most of you wont notice huge if any difference with standard-game textures but on the other hand if you are user of my Weapons mod get ready for real (visual) treat as this (exchanged) weapons are beside being my own favourites indeed the best Bioware DA weapon models can offer. More weapon swaps.

Enjoy! ;)

Thanks to BioWare for new game.
