About this mod

A variety of different clothing choices for men and women, to replace the default smoking jacket/skirt/pants/slippers for when Hawke is inside the Amell mansion in Hightown.

Permissions and credits
"Look here, my friend. These goods have come directly from the finest crafting houses in Antiva. Why, this shirt was - I have it on good authority - hand woven by Lady Osalio while she awaited word from the Crows on whether or not the contract against her husband was successful. Do not mind these few droplets of blood, for little did she know, Lord Osalio had similar ambitions against her! One of a kind craftsmanship, and a history like no other. A bargain at half the price, no? Hmm, your glower tells me you are a personage of some import in this city, and know the way of the silver-tongued merchant. Very well, I will see my way clear to offer you a discount - but only because I do so like your face."

Finery is a variation on my Constant Vigilance mod. Instead of Hawke remaining in his/her regular armor within their Hightown mansion, you can now choose what sort of casual attire they wear inside.

PLEASE NOTE: This is an aesthetic change INSIDE THE MANSION ONLY. Instead of the smoking jacket/pants/skirt/slippers, you can pick a look more suited to your Hawke. I do not know if the name is simply confusing people, but this does NOT CHANGE the physical piece of armor CALLED Finery that you find inside your house post-sex with your love interest. Please read the Q&A section in the description for more information.

Men can choose from twelve different looks, including the Viscount's outfit (which might be a bit formal for lounging around the house, but what are you gonna do - fashion over form), Anders and Carver's clothing from the introduction with varying levels of formality in between (I think one of the Noble's outfits is the same one Vaughan uses during the City Elf Origin, how appropriate since he voices m!Hawke).

Women can choose from eighteen different looks which include - by request - Isabela and Bethany's clothing, a large variety of noble's clothing as well as some light armor, casual and commoner's clothing.

PLEASE NOTE: Anders, Aveline, Bethany, Carver and Isabela's clothing have been included by request. I don't know if I would have personally chosen to include them, because of the skin tone issues (most obvious with Isabela and pale-skinned Hawkes). If you choose to use them, you're doing so at your own, immersion-breaking risk.

Important: This is not compatible with my Constant Vigilance mod - you'll need to choose one or the other to run.

Additionally, you will need to choose a single "look" for each sex to put in your Override folder. You cannot have multiple male and/or female looks, only one of each (more than that and they will alphabetically override one another).

Installation: Extract into My Documents\Bioware\Dragons Age 2\Packages\Core\Override folder. I recommend putting the file in its own folder in the Override folder, just for ease of removal later. Pick one finery outfit for men and one for women - you must delete the rest.
Uninstall: Delete either the folder you put the file into, or apr_(various finery names here).gda if you didn't.

Q: Does this mod do anything else?
A: No. It just changes what clothing they wear, and only then graphically - once you step outside, you will be wearing your normal armor.

Q: How will this effect cutscenes?
A: It shouldn't, although the only testing I did was with Fenris. There might be a tiny bit of clipping, and in the "after" part of the Isabela and Anders romance scenes, you will be back in these outfits prior to their leaving the mansion, so it depends on how much suspension of disbelief you require that you'd get dressed that quickly.

Q: Any conflicts with other mods?
A: Any that change how clothing is handled inside the Amell Hightown mansion, or any that use the entire apr_base.gda file and do not remove the lines dealing with home clothing. So my own Constant Vigilance mod conflicts. Other currently known conflicts are any mod that changes Hawke's movement/run speed and the Female animations tweak mod. There may be others that are unintentionally conflicting. If you let me know which mods you have installed (and either of mine are not working) I can try to track down the problem.

Q: Is there anything special about these outfits?
A: No. These are not re-skins or re-colors, just what's already available in the game, now worn by Hawke inside their house.

Q: Why can't you put Hawke in their underwear?
A: Well, you can and you can't. The problem is this:

Right now, when you go into the mansion, the item you put on is a single one, instead of gloves/chest piece/boots. So, I could set, say, flag all the Champion armor _nuda and use it in conjunction with my other mod, Constant Vigilance, but the side effect is that you run around the city in your underwear all the time. If I set the house armor _nuda, it cuts off your hands and feet - and Hawke is no Phantom Limb.

I don't know if it's possible without a real toolset to have Hawke wear the underwear indoors and normal clothes outside - I'm going to keep playing with it a bit but I'm guessing it's either beyond my capabilities or we have to wait. If it's the latter, by the time the new toolset is released, I'm sure someone more skilled than I will have everything well in hand. I consider this a for now compromise.

Q: Why do the f!Hawkes have so many more choices?
A: Because honestly, unlike the men, I couldn't really tell which outfits I thought looked especially good. To me, they swung from overly formal to tavern wench casual with not much leeway in between. So, with a few exceptions, I basically included everything from light armor (in case f!Hawke was going... hawking...) to the commoner's clothing.

Q: Why no heavier armor?
A: Because, um, Hawke's supposed to be relaxing at their house. The light armor is included because I could picture Hawke maybe... running errands, playing attack the darkspawn with the mabari or getting ready to go out for a ride or something when the companions show up. Heavy armor just doesn't seem to make sense in the house scenario.

Q: Can you wear (insert clothing name here) outside the home? Can you make it so this mod lets us wear (clothing name) all the time?
A: The quick answer is yes, it's possible to do that but no, I'm not going to make a mod for it and here's why.

To wear said armor all the time, all you really need to do is change an armor's skin to the one you want to wear permanently. The issue is picking which armor you want to reskin and you also need to consider whether or not you want it to be in any way useful to you. Ideally, you'd probably want a piece that evolved with you (so you never need to change out of it) but I've not read up on how to do that.

Like, I could set the Champion's armor to look like noble's clothing, but you don't get Champion armor until Act 3, for example.

There are a lot of tutorials out there which tell you how to re-skin items (er, I think there are?) but if you're absolutely dying to do it, can't figure it out and don't care what sort of stats the item has, I can probably walk you through it via PM. Keep in mind I'm no expert myself so it'd very much be the blind leading the blind.

Q: You know that piece of armor inside the mansion called Finery? Can you make it so...
A: Sweet Maker. See the above regarding re-skinning armor.

If you'd prefer Hawke to just wear his/her armor inside the mansion, do check out my other mod, Constant Vigilance found here: http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2291
