They are meant to all work together to add more life to one of my favorite origins.

Tamlen has always been one of my favorite parts of the Dalish Elf Origin and I always wished there had been more vanilla content for him.
If you romance him, it's very obvious the two of you are in love, you have grown up together, are best friends, and are to be married-bonded eventually.

I always loved the human noble origin and felt that the Dalish beginning was just as heartbreaking but without the same emotions.
So, over the years I've worked to expand upon the Mahariel-Tamlen relationship through a series of mods.

The cave ruins really aren't romantic (like at all), but this mod is also connected to my Kissing Tamlen mod via the flower.
And the scene itself is from a storyline I came up with for my original Mahariel character.

A recording of the cutscene with my female elf.
If you want to see it before actually watching it in your game:

This is a cutscene that takes place at the beginning of the Dalish Elf Origin in the mysterious cave ruins.
It was created for a male or female elf that romances Tamlen, so it makes the most sense to trigger it after you have the conversation with him (in the ruins), where he asks why you are with him for the day.
Afterward, you will receive a flower (with a description) in your inventory under plot items.
It appears there in the same way that Alistair's Rose does.
::
While the original cutscene played for both male & female elves, I previously didn't design it for male elves and
hadn't included a gender check.
It has been updated with a new version designed specifically for male elves.

::
To trigger the scene, click on the wildflower right outside of the room where the mirror is.
The flower is on the right of the statue that sits just left, around the corner from the door.
I recommend doing this right before you attempt to enter that room and click on the mirror.
::
You can choose to open the door and get through the fight that follows and then click on the flower.
If you click on it before you open the door, you won't be required to fight the walking corpses.
Please see the "Notes" below for additional details.

There are two versions.
One is installed via the DAUpdater, and the other is a loose files version to drop into your override folder.
Choose only one version.

I designed this mod to be compatible with all Tamlen mods, including my own.

No other mod is required to use this mod for a male Mahariel.
All my Dalish Elf mods are also designed for a male or female Mahariel and are standalone.
However, for those looking to also romance him through dialogue, my Be More Elfy - Dalish Dialogue Overhaul mod removes the gender check for Tamlen's romance, allowing him to be romantically available for male elves.

For aesthetic purposes, if you click on the flower before opening the door to where the mirror is
the corpses littering the floor around that area will disappear and will not attack you
This decision was made because, otherwise, a corpse may end up in the flower-picking shot & while testing, it looked really strange
This affects only one part of the main storyline.
If the corpses haven't already attacked you, then you won't be required to fight them at all.
There are only a few of them that actually attack you, so I didn't feel the loss of this tiny fight was a big deal.
Nor did I feel it broke immersion as when speaking later to the Keeper, you don't have to choose the option to say you fought "walking dead".
If you really want to fight the corpses for vanilla game purposes and to talk to Tamlen about it, try walking through the door and getting attacked by the corpses before clicking on the flower.

::

The scene is repeatable, but you should only receive the flower in your inventory after the first time.
I intentionally left the flower so that, while you're with Tamlen, if you wanted to watch the scene more than once, you could. No need to reload a previous save.

::

The flower will still be there when you return with Merrill.
You can click on it again, but it wouldn't make any sense to.
Tamlen isn't with you, as he is now missing and so will be absent from the scene.
I could add a script to remove it, but I'm finished with this mod and no longer interested in messing with it.

Thank you to Tinimaus for her technical assistance, troubleshooting, and support while I worked on this mod.
Thank you to all those mod creators before who left behind information, tips, and instructions that I used to learn how to make a cutscene.
And many thanks to BioWare, for giving us the toolset and gorgeous beautiful music in Inquisition that I used to create this scene.
