This mod brings Ser Gilmore back into the game as a party member to accompany you throughout the game.

Ser Gilmore is a Knight of Highever that appears in the Human Noble Origin. He was a Grey Warden hopeful but was left behind to guard the gates of the castle when it was attacked by Arl Howe.

You will find Ser Gilmore in LOTHERING, near the entrance to the Chantry.

INSTALLATION:
************

* BEFORE INSTALLING A NEW VERSION OF THIS MOD, UNINSTALL THE OLD ONE, AND THEN DELETE THE FOLDER Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\AddIns\Ser_Gilmore_LBCI

* Download the rar: Ser Gilmore NPC v3.1.1.

* Unrar (right click - "extract here"). If for some reason it tells you a file is broken, use the WinRAR option to repair.
If you are a MAC user, download Ez7z and register it (cost $7) then extract both files.

* The result is a file named Ser_Gilmore_NPC_v3.1.1.dazip, 428 Mb, and also a cc_core_200.dazip (Companion compatibility core v2.0) 564Kb.

* Once you extracted the .dazip files, you can either use daupdater.exe (in your Dragon Agebin_ship directory) or DAModder (which I recommend, and you can download from the Nexus).

* INSTALL BOTH DAZIPS. Once done, go to the game and activate both of them (usually, they are already activated.)

TIPS TO PLAY THIS MOD:
*********************

This mod has lots of dialog. I'm giving some tips here in order for you to get the most out of it.

AREA TRIGGERED DIALOGS.

1- Gilmore has area activated dialogs. He will start a conversation with you at the moment you enter certain areas in game. I've tried to make an area list that's well spread out throughout the game so you won't end up having a boring last half of the game.

2- These dialogs become "available" when you reach a certain amount of approval. For example, he will tell you something at 10 approval and a new conversation will become available at 20, 30, etc.

3- The area triggered dialogs do NOT have romance/open relationship consequences, but do have approval consequences. They are fun things and chitchat. He may tell you something interesting, he may ask you stuff.

4- This dialogs make romance path/open relationship path dialogs become available.



ROMANCE/FRIENDSHIP/OPEN RELATIONSHIP DIALOGS.

1- TALK TO HIM OFTEN!!!!! Did you raise approval? CLICK ON HIM! Did you arrive to a new important area? CLICK ON HIM!!! He may have something important to tell you.

2- When you click on him you will either get a menu with several options or you will directly go into conversation mode. If you go into conversation mode, beware! It's an important dialog that will affect your present relationship with him.

3- This romance/friendship/open relationship dialogs become available by approval and area counter (like the area triggered dialogs) so raise your approval and travel. ;-) I've tried to spread these dialogs throughout the game.



THE NORMAL DIALOG MENU.

1- Click on him. Most of the time you will get a menu with many options.

2- Sadly, the toolset has a limit of 6 options in the menu. In order to circumvent this, some options are "sub-menus" and inside you will find more options.

3- CLICK ON HIM OFTEN! The main menu may look the same, but the options inside will change, or be completely new. So spend 1 or 2 seconds talking to him and clicking on some options to see if he'll tell you something new.

4- Is he your lover now? Check the new menu!!! Did you have an important conversation?? Check the menu again!! Did you manage to piss him off? Ow, well, check the menu, I guess ;-)

5- New menu options become available by approval and by romance/friendship/open relationship talks.



DIFFERENT PATHS = DIFFERENT DIALOGS.

1- You can choose your past if you are a human noble. He will have different things to tell you depending on that.

2- If you are you in an open relationship in this playthrough, don't hesitate and try a loving relationship on the next. Or even the friendship path.

3- Your origin matters. Many dialogs are specific for human nobles and many specific for other origins. There are dialogs that are specific by race or origin too.



RORY GILMORE.

Before I started writing the mod, I sent David Gaider a PM asking him for all the information he had on "Ser Gilmore". I got his reply some days later. He was kind enough to check on his notes. This is the information David provided me:

1- His name is Roland, and he is refered to as "Rory" for short. This is a direct reference to the Gilmore Girls.

2- His father's estate is called "Hunter Fell". Exact location not provided, but the human noble origin leaves it clear that it's in the Bannorn.

3- He was squired in Highever at age 11 or 12. This is the age he arrived to the castle and started his training.

The rest was open to the imagination, but still, I tried to keep Rory's character the way it appeared in the few lines in the Human Noble origin. Therefore...

He's loyal, loving, can be a cocky douchebag sometimes, he likes to do the right thing. He is also not a tool.

In his first dialogs you will have a rather traumatized person with you, y'know, after being tortured and all, but soon you'll see a "change of mood" and he will tell you stories about his past, his family and will interact in other ways with you.

He has a high tolerance for many things and will not get outright angry at you for "choosing the wrong option", but in the end, some paths you choose in game may piss him off greatly. Also, if you toy with him and think you can trick him... well, I'll let you discover those. ;-)

Other than that, you will have two opportunities to change your loving relationship into an open relationship, if you're interested.

You have many opportunities to change your relationships into friendship. It's easier if you turn an open relationship into friendship than a loving relationship into friendship, so if you want him to be your friend, do it early.

He will never leave your party. He may be �ber-pissed, but he wants to vanquish this blight.

+ OPEN RELATIONSHIP PATH: You have persuaded Rory into becoming a friend with benefits. He likes you and understands that in this troubled times you or he could be dead by sunrise, so he will try to make the most out of life before he's gone. He is very tolerant about what you do (strike 3 rule applies) and the relationships you have and will even want to participate. He is also tolerant about what you decide in the Landsmeet and Morrigan's proposal. If you wish to end this relationship he will be understanding (unless you decide to end it with a confrontation) and will remain your loyal friend. But BE WARNED: Love is love, sex is sex. This path will lead to a consistent ending.

+ LOVING RELATIONSHIP PATH: Rory and you love each other and are in a committed relationship. He is serious and has a very clear idea of what he wants. He is focused in vanquishing the blight and having his life joined with you. He will not tolerate that you play with him. He won't tolerate games with other party members or prostitutes you may encounter in game. If you want to end this relationship he will be deeply hurt and angry and the most possible outcome is that he won't want to even talk to you anymore. He will expect that you are consistent with your actions in the Landsmeet and Morrigan's proposal. BE WARNED: This is true love, and you will have such ending.

+ FRIENDSHIP PATH: Rory is your loyal friend. He has great esteem for you and thinks highly of how you handle yourself (he doesn't want to admit it, though. :-)) He may comment on your actions but will be tolerant of what you do (strike 3 rule applies). He will be very supportive overall.



OTHER NPCs.

Rory will participate in dialogs with other important characters in game to voice his opinions in the form of interjections.

For now: Arl Howe, Zathrian, Caridin, Sanga, Isabela, the grand Oak, the guards at Fort Drakon, The Guardian, Riordan and the Sloth demon.

Rory will banter with other party members! He has 4 to 5 banters with each. Have Rory in party and travel the world!

Well, I think that's all, mainly.

FIXED BUGS IN v3.1:

- Rory's portrait. <-- Now frixed thanks to Typewriter.

- Fort Drakon's lines. When Rory goes to rescue the player has no FaceFX. <-- Fixed. This might have been a staging problem...

- The initconvo will not trigger if Rory is the party leader while leaving an area to enter in an initconvo area. The script needs to be modified (GetHero()). <- Fixed.

- Typo in initconv "renamed" should be "renouned". <- Fixed.

- A line in a banter with Morrigan is different than the actual vo <- This is now fixed.

- Minor dialog and spelling corrections.

- A line in a banter with Leliana has no sound. <- Fixed.

- A line in a banter with Oghren has no sound. <- Fixed.

- Dlg with Howe needs an extra update for ZDF compatibility <- Fixed, plus downloadable separate from te Zev Dialog Fix project page.

- One of Shale's banter lines didn't come out as I intended. <- modified in toolset, waiting for vo.

- Amstradhero's awesome tip: toolset_henchmen to avoid editing stages when he has an interjection! <-- 3 stages are out, 3 dlgs modified (den400st_front_guards.stg, * den400st_player_rescued.stg, den511st_howe.stg).

- Rory will now appear and behave correctly in extra cutscenes.

- The random banters with party members will occur more often by default (you can still use the banter accelerator patch.)

- Shale's banters were not working at all. This is now fixed.



FIXED BUGS IN v3.0:
*******************

- New!! 257 new lines added to the mod, in the form of random banters with other party member NPCs! (especial thanks to idomeneas.)

- A brand new Rory initiated conversation! There is an extremely important piece of DA lore that we have to address, and that may tie the Gilmores to Nevarra and the 3rd blight. Wow!! (Thank you, Questorion, for pointing this out!)

- New cutscene "Rory proposes", by Dhalialynn!!

- FULL compatibility with Zevran Dialog Fix (by ejoslin) and Morrigan Dialog Fix (by Terra_Ex)!

- New, updated char_stage by ladydesire.

- Internal reworks to allow usage of resources by "Ser Gilmore and dog in Awakening" mod.

- The main .plo file has been added a plot flag, that now allows the new lore conversation to appear.

- The main .dlg was modified to allow a previous conversation about Hunter Fell to appear earlier in game.

- The main stage has been added a camera.

- Gore is removed when launching cutscenes.

- Ser Gilmore now uses Companion Compatibility v2.0 (http://social.bioware.com/project/4110/), by Sunjammer and Noob766 to improve compatibility with other NPC mods. party_events.dlg and cutscene_slideshow.dlg do NOT contain Ser Gilmore�s lines anymore. New dlgs are created.

- Added several new PC responses if PC is a mage in the Mage Tower.

- Fixed a bug that created a "double Rory" in Lothering. This was created when people reentered Lothering (for example entering and leaving the chantry) while controlling Rory as party leader. Now people can move around with Rory being party leader without creating a double. THANK YOU misswayne for the identification, reproduction, and testing!!

- Fixed a bug that caused Rory to follow you in camp. This was produced when people entered a party camp area while having Rory controlled as party leader. Now people can enter the area with him selected, and he will be standing in his spot as he should, instead of following the PC around.

- Fixed a bug that made Rory talk to whoever other NPC is being controlled at the moment instead of the main char. This was a potential disaster because the script/plot checks were not made on the main character, but on the other NPC controlled. Example: If the main char is a human noble, but you make the dog talk to Rory, the non-hn dialog will trigger instead, because the dog is not hn. From now on, Rory talks to the PC (main character) no matter which NPC is being controlled at the time.

- Modified the inner workings of the Fade system in parallel with idomeneas for Quest and Legends. We did the same checks in different ways, and thanks to XTR3M3's testing we realized that any mod using either of the systems will have trouble in the fade when installed at the same time. New checks were implemented, making sure that ALL mods using idomeneas' or SG's system will be compatible with one another. YAY! ;-)



FIXED BUGS IN v2.0:
*******************

- Some fixes in the main dlg what will now allow the correct cutscenes to show.

- In the flirt "Do you know what I love you the most?" The option "Your sword" should be delayed until RA2 (after Rory and PC made love.)

- If you refuse Morrigan's ritual and let Loghain or Alistair die, also persuading Roland succesfully to stay together, Roland will have the correct line at the post coronation, but if you click on him again, he will tell you an incorrect line. This will cause problem at the end.

- Some lines from the soundset have been reworked.

- The main dialog, script and plot have been modified to accommodate for a new addon for the Ser Gilmore mod, that is AWESOME: Ser Gilmore's first night, by DahliaLynn adds a very tasteful and romantic new sex scene when the PC and Rory make love for the first time. (Only for the love path). DOWNLOADABLE SEPARATELY: http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1502

- There is now a brand new dialog that will trigger after Rory and the PC make love for the first time. (Only for the love path).

- Thanks to DahliaLynn, all kisses have been reworked and fixed for all races and genders, and the kiss #2 now has music.

- Ser Gilmore can how HUG YOU! :-)




FIXED BUGS in v1.0:
******************

- Dialog corrections and additional proofreading.

- For non-hn, Rory does not attack Howe as he should, and this will cause trouble later, when Rory talks about Howe being dead, he reacts as if he was not there (even if he was). This is now fixed.

- In frontguards.dlg a string was set for the guard to speak, when it should have been Rory's line. Fixed.

- Some of Sanga's lines (at the pearl) have no audio. This is now fixed.

- Added cli300ar_redcliffe_castle as a party camp area for the "let's have sex" conditional. Not entirely needed, just added for good measure.

- When PC tells Rory she's "not sure" of what she feels for him and is in the RELATIONSHIP_UNSURE loop, the flag should be cleared when there's resolution, otherwise the romance will stall (because further convos do not trigger if REL_UNSURE). This is now fixed.

- The main .stg was modified and a second "wide" camera was added to allow for something nice by the end of the mod... :-p

- A new stage was added.

- A new convo was added between Rory, the pc and somebody from your group! :-D

- In the instances where the player has to choose an NPC does something (Riordan at the city gates and fort Drakon), the option to pick Rory is always there, even when the player didn't pick Rory up in Lothering. <-- This is a "feature" of the toolset, in which a comment with a condition or a condition in a PC line will not work properly. In order to fix it I used blood magic, sacrificed a virgin to Satan, and typed a space in the conditional line where the comment was (thus making the line "red" instead of "green". If the condition was in a pc line, I moved the line into a commented line with a space typed in.)

- An additional extra conditional was added in riordan.dlg to prevent Rory's voice to be heard if the player did not recruit Rory in Lothering and selects the option "It doesn't matter to me".

- If Rory is not recruited, he still joins (as ghost) in interjections. <-- This was inadvertently fixed in B4 and will work in NEW games.

- Fixed a bug in cutscene_slideshow.dlg that would make the player to get in a "never ending loop" if Rory was never recruited into the party. This would cause the player to be kicked out into the coronation chamber again and again after Morrigan's ending story.

- Not a bug, but something nice: Rory has now his own gear when you recruit him in Lothering, courtesy of TaHol.

- Ser Perth's dlg was marked to be part of Ser Gilmore NPC mod, even though it was never modified. If I'm correct, this was the reason why Ser Perth's convo appeared in English in non-English games. I've changed it back to Single Player, and hopefully this will prevent Ser Perth from speaking in English in other language games.

- Fixed two instances in which Rory referred to the PC as a female when the PC was a male.

- If the PC lets Alistair die, then Rory would not comment about Loghain being in party or Anora being the Queen after he told the PC how vile she was. <- Plo, Nss and Dlg modified, conditions were entered in those convos so they will not trigger if Alistair dies.




FIXED BUGS IN B4:
*****************

- Rory will be part of your party in camp if you are going to leave camp, select him, the map appears and you hit "esc" to remain in camp. Fixed.

- The dog is broken, may appear, disappear or follow you in camp. This is now fixed.

- Rory was behaving strangely in camp. May appear, disappear or follow you. This is now fixed.

- In the join dialog "Good day, traveller. What can I do for you?", if Pc chooses "Nothing just passing by, sorry to bother you." they can't talk to Rory again. This is now fixed.

- In the join dialog "I bet the soldiers and the refugees here need more hands.", if Pc chooses "Nothing just passing by, sorry to bother you." they can't talk to Rory again. This is now fixed.

- Minor dialog corrections.

- Fixed some extra conditionals in riordan.dlg/party_events.dlg

- Fixed two codex entries. Three other codex entries added and cleared when relationship changes.

- In open relationships the option "Let's go to bed" was set to only appear once per game. Now it's set as a normal line, so the player can use it anytime.

- The first initconvo now requires approval to prevent that line from appearing before the join dialog.

- The main .dlg, .plo and .nss were modified to be able to accommodate for better sex cutscenes.

- Added more animations to the convos. Not technically a bug, just something nice.

- Minor tweaks: some convos happen sooner; more face expressions, kiss_3 is now at_tent.

- Small tweak to add approval as a condition to the first lbci_1 convo. This will prevent the "how did you become a GW?" dialog to trigger when Rory hasn't been recruited yet.

- Rory will now ask the PC to make love/have sex earlier in the mod (initconv 10 instead of 12).




FIXED BUGS in B3:
****************

- (Flex your muscles pretending you don't see him.) <-- this option should be available for MALES only (right now it's for both ��)

- In the "What's your pastime?" conversation, only the Female Noble line appears (I forgot to add the line conditionals)

- "(Roland gets even closer)" must not have FaceFX.

- In the 18th birthday talk Rory refers to Males as "My Lady Cousland".

- I've reworked the whole 18th birthday convo for Males. With more manly options (different than the female's). Hopefully this time I got it right. :-)

- In the convo when Rory tells you you suck at fighting there is a special option for mages that is not working <-- This is possibly fixed.

- There's no loss of approval if you tell him you have to stop your relationship. This is now fixed and approval decreases by 40.

- In the "will you tell me about yourself" talk for non human nobles, the conditionals are broken and the only choice the pc has is "No." (which kind of sucks and killed the whole convo).

- Roland appears in every interjection when he's not in party. <- this was produced when the cinematic state is set to Active(Start). It should be blank.

- The ending for the romance path - now the correct option appears for male PCs.

- Now with 20% MOAR KISSES. Some actions were set as conditions, so the kissing scenes never got to play. Now they will.

- Removed the last Floaty messages. (not technically a bug, I left them there intentionally, but yeah).

- Now with 50% MOAR sex. So you have a chance to sex him up all what you want.

- One of the kisses isn't working for the masses. All are working for meh ;_; Kiss #4 seems to definitely be a problem. <-- Removed #3 and #4. Now it should work fine. Hopefully.

- His normal convos are edited to tweak the gain and loss of approval.

- Convos while visiting places that are related to PCs backgrounds have the wrong plot flags and were therefore not working depending on the PC background. Correct plot flags are gen00pt_backgrounds or gen00pt_class_race_gend.

- He is now a Champion at start. He also has a minimum of level 7.

- In convo 7 "My dear, I was thinking of what we were talking the other day... about us?" the dialog in the conditionals was not set properly and (again) non-HN would get HN responses and even get wrong plot flags. This is a potential disaster for the non-HN romance path.

- The relationship bar stayed at "neutral" all the time. Now it has different emotions depending on the path the player chooses to follow.

- All gifts count as +5 (still). There is an additional bug if you give Rory something that's not intended for him. This bug is now fixed and he doesn't gain +5 approval when somebody gives him the wrong gift.

- The romance conflict needs tweaking. Rory gets pissed off even if the Pcs are not really flirting with other NPCs. Now, instead of checking for ROMANCE_ACTIVE on the second warning, it checks for IS_IN_LOVE or IS_ADORE. Right now the progression for the conflict is: ROMANCE_ACTIVE goes to Warned 1, IS_IN_LOVE or IS_ADORE goes to Warned 2. MAKE_LOVE goes to Rory getting super pissed and dumping the PC.

- The interjection dialogs were fixed yet again to prevent Roland's line from appearing anyway when he is not in party. There's something strange with the script Theo made, and therefore the plot flag GILMORE_IN_PARTY = true was not working properly. Workaround is to use GILMORE_IN_CAMP = false. Everything seems to work now and Roland speaks when he is in the group and does not speak when he is not.



KNOWN ISSUES:
************

- He doesn't have special party bonuses.

- Some cutscenes (kisses-hugs) have no background. - Tried to fix it 30 times to no avail.
