When designing your companions, BioWare obviously made an effort to give you a taste of as many different playstyles as possible. Unfortunately, the number of martial characters is one higher than the number of martial trees, and they picked the absolutely most redundant possible tree to double up on, by making both Sten and Oghren 2handers. There's a lot of difference between a strength-based dual-axe warrior and a dex-based dual-dagger rogue. There's only one 2h warrior build. Heck, there's not even as much difference between 2h tank and 2h DPS as there is between a cunning dual dagger rogue and a dex dual dagger rogue! You could get a lot more style variety in a single playthrough if one of the boys were a dual-wielder instead.
Now, most of us who feel this way, I imagine, already use one of the manyfinemods available to control and customize followers more closely, and switch Oghren over to dual-wielding. I certainly do. But if you do, you still have to remember to pick up a decent main- and off-hand set for him and carry them around until you first recruit him, and completely re-equip him before heading into the Deep Roads, and other similar small annoyances. And if you don't like respec mods, you're totally out of luck.
Hence this minor modding effort, which gives Ogh a dagger and a decent 1h starter axe (nothing crazy, just a scaling tier +2 dex, +2 damage with rune slots), and rewrites his talent selection to pick up dual wield talents in place of the 2handed tree.
This mod is only completely effective if you've never met Ogh before - you can't even have overheard his argument with the guard - so it's best used with games where you haven't yet visited Orz.
