About this mod
Adds/tweaks several combat sounds in the game. New sounds for the crossbow, mace/maul and new sounds for projectiles (arrows) on impact.
- Permissions and credits
Most of the vanilla sound effects are great and aren't touched by this mod, it will not make a massive difference. The main aspect of the mod is the new sound for the arrow/bolt projectile on impact. Any character being hit by an arrow or bolt will feel the impact with this mod. It will play a more impactful sound, and occasionally also a blood splatter sound (see in the video) as well. If the arrow/bolt miss its target and connect with a wall for instance, you will also hear a new more impactful sound that represent the arrow/bolt hitting a metal-like surface.
The video gives you an idea of the new sounds, though the sounds are slightly tweaked/improved from that video and I wasn't able to record a new one at the moment.
Also, the screaming sound in the video is not from my mod. I believe it is the crit sound in the game or some talent/ability sound.
Installation - Download and extract the file "New_Combat_Sounds" with it's content, and put it into your override folder.
Uninstall - Remove it from your override folder.
You can just delete the mod and the vanilla sounds will be restored, so there is no risk in trying.
Sorry for uploading so many other versions of this mod, if you had my crossbow sound tweak mod I would delete that and use this instead. This is an improved version of that and well tested. My other Combat Sounds Tweak is slighly different, it doesn't add any new sounds as it uses existing sounds so it is different enough to be its own mod I would say.
Version 1.1
A small uppdate. Removed a few "weird" sounds (from the crossbow), and several tweaks/improvements overall. Also added 1 new reload sound for the crossbow. Made several changes to sound volume as well. If it asks to overwrite, click yes to all.
Version 1.2
I finally managed to figure out how to separate the impact sounds of arrows/bolts with those from the spells and staff impact sounds. Now after this update, the mod is exactly as intended. Spells (including abilities from creatures like a web from a spider) and staff projectiles will now play the vanilla impact sound, and the crossbow as well as the bow will play the new sounds when the bolts/arrows connect with the target. I highly recommend updating to the new version if you had the old one.
Version 1.3
Fmod is annoying to deal with,..... The sounds were too loud, so I reduced them a bit (especially the arrow/bolt sounds). I also made another improvement. Now the sound from the arrows/bolts will actually reflect the material it connects with, or the armor. So if you wear heavy armor, it will play a different sound compared to light armor or cloth armor as well as just skin with no armor at all. It took me a while to realize I could do this. I have worked on this mod now for quite a bit, trying to polish it. It has been a bit annyoing to getting unexpected results but now I think it's close to finished, finally.
Version 1.4
Just some small tweaks and improvements to the sound balance. I also removed 1 reload sound for the crossbow which just didn't feel very good after a while.
Version 1.5
Okay, probably the final version. Slightly reduced the reload sound for the bow (draw arrow) as it was a little too loud for my taste. Some other small tweaks. Also added another version of the mod if you don't like the new blood sound effects from the arrows.
