About this mod

A mod I made for personal use but thought I made share it here. It replaces some of the soundtracks in the vanilla game with some of my favorites from the classic games such as Icewind Dale 1-2, Baldurs Gate 2, Planescape Torment and also some from the DLC Leliana's song. It replaces around 25% of the, imo, bad and generic vanilla tracks.

While I really enjoy the original soundtrack for DA:O, this mod mainly focused on replacing some of the combat soundtracks that I didn't enjoy personally. I then expanded on it a bit by also replacing some generic and unforgettable tracks in other locations as well. Most of the tracks are not touched, the good and epic tracks (in my opinion) as well as many standard atmospheric soundtracks are still there to preserve the DA:O music and feel.

Some of the changes are to the following tracks:
- Dalish elf Origin start area
- Korcari Wilds battle music
- Some boss/mini-boss encounters
- A new track in Lothering
- A few changes in Redcliffe and Redcliffe combat music
- Brecilian Forest main elf camp area and some battle music
- Several changes to the tracks and combat music in haven and it's questline
- A new track from Leliana's song to some places associated with markets and trading
- A new track in anvil of the void questline

I would recommend building your own soundtrack for ultimate freedom the Dragon Age Music Editor mod. Though downloading this mod will save alot of time if you enjoy my new tracks. Credit goes to kublikhan for the amazing Dragon Age Music Editor mod as well as setiweb for superb instructions.

The new tracks aims to really capture the feeling and spirit of the location as well as with the tracks it is replacing itself. I think and hope none of the new tracks feels out of place in its location and in the Dragon Age universe.

I also tried to make all the soundtracks more consistent in terms of volume.

All the rights of these song(s) belongs to the publisher, developer and the respected parties. I do not own the rights to these song(s) and will comply to remove this mod without hesitation from any of the respected parties.

Installation: Simply extract and place the My_Fancy_Music_Mod folder into your Dragon Age Override.

Simply removing the folder from your override folder should delete the mod and the vanilla soundtrack will be restored. In that sense, it sould be risk free to use, and can be installed in the middle of a playthrough without problem.

Edit: Added version 2.1. I noticed a few combat tracks to be too loud. I reduce their volume, and also made some changes as one track played far too frequently for my liking. The sound volume should be more consistent in 2.1, and less loud combat music. Also did some other small tweaks, like restoring the vanilla Brecilian Forest main elf camp and combining it with the new track. I think and hope the new version is consistent in terms of volume.

If you install new version and had the previous one, if it ask to overwrite say yes, otherwise delete the old folder/file and put the new one in (same name). You should only have one of these in your override.

Note that some cutscenes can have a bit louder sounds/music compared to gameplay. The difference isn't big but as far as i'm aware you can't adjust cutscene volume in the music editor. Keep that in mind and not having the music too loud for when a cutscene might bombard your ears :p

Don't use this mod for the DLC content (other campaigns). It screws up the music for some reason. For Awakening I don't know, haven't tried but I know Leliana's Song don't work with this mod. Use it for the Main campaign, then if you want to play the DLC, remove the My_Fancy_Music_Mod from your override.
