I've played multiple playthroughs of DAO. Sometimes I decide I want to add tons of additional side content from the modding community, sometimes I don't. But I always add this one, I've always enjoyed it. I know you made this 14 years ago, but just wanting to say thanks.

Just played this mod, it's okay. I can't recommend it as the "hired voice actors" are very, very mediocre. One is good, the female templar. The rest of the voices feel out of place and poorly done to me. The story is very bland. There is nothing unique. Very predictable ending, no unique loot nor creatures. Re-used maps. I don't plan on having it installed for another playthrough however if average experiences interest you, then feel free to try it.

As I've stated previously, the "hired voice actors" were all DAO community members who did the voice work for free. This mod was also turned around in a month as the very first fully voice acted mod for Dragon Age, to showcase to the community how it was possible for a modder to create a voice acted module to integrate into the main campaign. So yes, it is rushed and does not have the same level of polish as some other mods that came afterwards. Also, I'd question your complaint about it having a "very predictable ending", as that's not really a complaint that has been levelled at it before.

I did end up creating The Shattered War mod as a standalone expansion adventure with higher quality voice acting and all completely brand new areas which is of a notably higher quality than this mod.

Nevertheless, thanks for trying it out.

Hi, I'm playing this mod, and one of the characters, Tyria, has no body. Is this a bug or do I have a conflict with any mode. I'm using the templars of Ferelden mod.

    Thanks.

I am in the same situation, is there a fix or a mod I should (de)install to correct this? (I am not using Templars of Ferelden though).
      Thanks!

This Mod works great for me. You must have a conflict?  Works best if loaded using the "DAO Mod Manager" and not the "Nexus Mod Manager" though, at least for me.  My problem was a graphics memory leak. I had all kinds of issues, blood squares, kaleidoscope squares when zoning and unexpected game crashes, I deleted most my mods, I  almost gave up!  But stumbled over the 4gb patch, which is more of a Windows fix than a DAO fix. But did the trick.   Been smooth sailing ever since!

Hi. I'm just going to start this game for the nth time, and I'm to try with the DAO mod manager. I'll let you know how it goes.

I won't lie I was a little disappointed with this mod. I felt it had a lot of potential that it failed to deliver and was much to short. I finished it in just over 10 minutes no including the really long battle at the end (won't say which one to avoid spoilers). Still a good mod but I felt it was to short and could have been done a little bit better. Sorry

Yeah I was really disappointed too. I tried to get a refund but EA kept telling me this was Free content made by a freelance modder created on their own time with no monetary compensation. Then the EA support guy actually had the audacity to tell me if I didn't like it I should create my own mod using the tools available. Can you believe that guy?

      You're joking... right?
If so, I apologize. It wouldn't be the first time I've been told that I have no concept of sarcasm.

      @ Tikkidew

Are you really implying that you can't criticize something just because it's free? That doesn't seem right. I assume modders take pride in their work and want to improve, so it seems like it would be counter-productive to censor criticism. Why do you have a problem with what he said? Which, by the way, he did so politely.

      @Th3D0ct04
In order to finish the mod in 10 minutes, I imagine you must be skipping most of the dialogue and killing all enemies extremely quickly - so if you're barrelling through, then yes, it will be short. Also keep in mind that this was the first fully-voiced campaign add-in - and was by design only meant to be a short quest.

I would be interested to hear why you think it "didn't deliver", as I tried very hard to make sure that the tone and writing of the quest was very much in line with the original style of Dragon Age.

      @runtheplacered
I'm happy to receive criticism where it is productive and will actually enable me to improve my content, but unfortunately saying "it's too short" or "it could have been better" is not really something I consider useful information for me, especially given I believe the playthrough was somewhat rushed.

It's short? Deffo getting it. A lot of new area/quest mods have a long grind in them, from what I read, and I don't want to drag the campaign for much longer via killing 100500 skeletons, collecting 750 boar asses, and delivering 68 messages to NPCs across the map - the more compact is new content, the better!

One persons opinion is not constructive criticism though.    That is the issue.
Too short (even though the mod description says it will be a short mod) and could have been done better - that isn't constructive to either potential users OR the mod developer.   Frankly, it's an opinion I ignore because I have no earthly idea in what context it was made.

      i.e.:
Was the guy a power gamer, who can beat the game on Nightmare buck naked?
Was the guy playing on Easy mode?
Was the guy pimped out with ridiculously strong gear?
Was the guy extremely overleveled for the content the mod provides?
Did the guy expect AAAA content because only AAAA content will do?
Or any combination of those things.

I agree with your statement, but sadly the original statement was anything but constructive.    It resembled the millions of "this mod don't work" comments people give to mod authors.   Umm, ok, thats a lot to go on I might need 6 months to figure out why [sarcasm].....

Hi AmstradHero, nice work, man) i can confirm 30 to 60 minutes of gameplay. Though fights were far too easy. i played it with battle mage lvl 12 at Nightmare with few mods but no overpowered items. And with all said i put my way through without any tactics - just hit n run. Except for Southern Hills. Should be harder in my mind. However, very nice plot - good job anyway. thanks for creating this thing!)

Hullo! I stated in my new Fixpack readme (get it at qwinnmods.com, Nexus mod page here:

    http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/4689/?

...that our mods were incompatible based on a user report. However, when I actually tried it myself, turns out the signpost and the new location show up just fine, but I'm getting the same stuck-on-loading issue that people have been reporting here since 2013. Even if I disable my own mod and force load (making Alley of Murders the *only* mod I have running) I still get stuck on the loading screen of the first area. Has any reason ever been found for why this happens? I'd love to be able to revise my readme and say that our mods are compatible. Thanks for any help.

I did not see any dazip in the download, incidentally, so I used DAModder instead of the daupdater.exe that the mod description says to use.

EDIT:  Renaming the .zip download to .dazip and then using daupdater.exe seems to have solved the problem.  I know .dazip files are no long considered a valid upload file type, which is why I have to package mine all up as .7z or .zip.  I suspect .dazip was valid at one point and that was changed, and perhaps the filename of the upload was automatically changed to .zip at that time?  At any rate, renaming the .zip download to .dazip and using daupdater.exe got me into the Alley just fine.  I haven't progressed beyond that yet.  Will test more and update here if it turns out they work well together.

EDIT 2: I am very happy to announce that Qwinn's Ultimate Dragon Age: Origins Fixpack and Alley of Murders are 100% compatible. And I'm also happy to have finally provided a solution to the infinite load screen issue. I hope you'll all enjoy both mods

That's odd, it downloads as a .dazip for me.

Edit: I read that Chrome changes dazip files to zip. So be mindful of that.

I'm so sorry I never posted before, but I'm so greatful for this mod I had a lot of fun playing it, and was especially impressed by the (can't remember the character's name whups :/) Tranquil mage. He's motivations seemed to be more than just those of a man without emotion, and I remember it so clearly to this day (I first played this mod around 2014/2012). Thank you! <3
