About this mod

Are you feeling lucky? We've got the Dalish Dare for the daring, Stone's Gambit for the skilled, and Orlesian Odds for the risk-takers. Which game will you choose?

This mod adds several NPC gamblers throughout Ferelden and Orzammar, mostly found near taverns and crowded places, offering you a chance to try your luck.

Permissions and credits
This mod offers you the opportunity to engage in various gambling games with several NPC gamblers scattered throughout Ferelden and Orzammar. You'll find them mostly near taverns and busy locations, inviting you to try your luck. The mod is structured as a tournament, with low, mid, and high-level gamblers for you to defeat in order to advance in the standings and challenge the higher-level players.

It was inspired by The Witcher 3 mini games and gamblers in taverns and at first it was imagined to be an ambient mod. But with time it changed to ambient - quest mod.

The games themselves are implemented using a conversation tree, with many random variables to add diversity to the experience. While the "gameplay of mini game" is not as visually dynamic due to the limitations of the engine and conversation tree editor, the codex is quite extensive, providing rules, history, and customs of the games. Games have "rounds" depending on the value of the bet.

There are three main games to choose from, along with a variation:
- The Dalish Dare - guess the dice roll.
- The Orlesian Odds - beat gamblers roll with your own roll of the dice.
- The Stone's Gambit - guess the sum of yours and gamblers stones in the cups.
- The Orlesian Odds: Battle of the Champions - harder to explain, you really need to participate.

I believe the best way to experience the mod is by installing it near Lothering and playing as you progress through the main campaign, meeting and playing with the gamblers along the way. You can also load some late save where you have everything opened and go from there.

Few notes:

- The game features artificial voices to add diversity.
- The level of gamblers can be determined by the color of their name.
- In order to advance, players need to beat at least 4 different low level gamblers in every game (12 wins total - 4/4/4).
- Players need to beat at least 2 mid level gamblers to face the top gambler (6 wins total - 2/2/2 - Dayler Turden is not counted towards this total).
- It is not necessary to beat every gambler in all games, but players must beat 4 (or 2 depending on level) different gamblers in one game, except for the boss gambler.
- There are 14 gamblers added to the game, 9 low level, 4 mid level and 1 high level (gamblers levels are really based on bets and amount of money they have since the dice is always a dice).
- Gamblers are mostly generic in terms of the mini games, but they have a degree of diversity as there are a few "kind of gamblers".
- There are 2 "main quests", some sub-plots are showing up depending how you progress in gambling.
- Gamblers have some money, but they can run out of money. If you bankrupt them, you can no longer gamble with that gambler.
- For some gamblers, if you bankrupt them, they will give you wins in all 3 games no matter if you played them with that gambler.
- The "games" are codex heavy, with everything documented including gambler names, their locations, rules of the games, etc.
- "Cheating" is possible during the games (game randomly offers you a "skill", but beware, gamblers can cheat too) except for Stone's Gambit, but there is a catch also.
- This mod is not a "combat" mode. Interactions with gamblers are made in exploration mode. There is no violence, sort of..
- Quests should auto start after passing Lothering and before finishing main campaign when entering some area list, that's valid for NPC gamblers also. In case some gambler is not loaded, it should be when you next time enter that "area list".
- If mod is loaded after finishing main campaign, then you can gamble in party camp with one of the gamblers.

Gamblers of Ferelden is created with help of chatGPT. I'm not a native English speaker so I have used it to give more "style" to the quests and conversations (instead of hello stranger, hello traveler stuff).

Please let me know if you encounter bugs and errors so I can try to fix them.

Known issues:
- can't figure out why one of the rewards can't be given to the PC, perhaps only on my machine?

btw. - if someone is interested to give a real voice to some gambler, please contact me.. :)

This mod does not modify any game resource!

BEWARE - BE RESPONSIBLE WITH YOUR GAMBLING HABITS!!
