This mod was the 3rd in my series of mods created to improve the Dalish Elf Origin and expand upon Tamlen and Mahariel's relationship- a vital plot point for DA2 and Merrill/Hawke (even if the Warden isn't Dalish).

Also, as someone pointed out on my YouTube channel, I "really really like elves" :) Haha



Female Elf Version - For Modified/Non-Vanilla Tamlen Morphs






I roleplay my Mahariel and Tamlen as having only admitted their feelings for each other the previous night. To me that fits in with their whole "why are you here?" and "we'll talk later" conversation. Finally sharing romantic feelings for a longtime friend and having a first kiss can often cause both parties to be a little shy or feel awkward the next day, until they have another talk. So, that is where this kiss began.

I also tied this scene into my A Flower from Tamlen, as you will see from the pictures and if you choose to use this mod.
And I believe it to be a nice compliment to my Clan Sabrae Says Goodbye to Tamlen.




This mod adds a cutscene to the beginning of the Dalish Elf Origin for those of us who romance Tamlen.
For both male and female Dalish elves.
Available the first time you return to the Dalish Elf camp after exploring the cave.

The scene attempts to give Mahariel the chance to remember their first and only kiss with Tamlen.
It is meant to be a slow, sensual, romantic moment that begins with you staring into each other's eyes, holding each other, and then going in for a tender but intense kiss.

After the scene is triggered, you will receive "Bellanaris - Tamlen's Ring" in your inventory.
Bellanaris is elven for "Eternity".
It is a wearable ring with powerful stats, so it's still helpful later in the game.

Image section shows a pic with the stats. 
An entry will be added to the "Items" section of the Codex that will tell you the backstory of how you originally got the ring.





This scene is triggered by a flower.
The flower is placed by the Halla pen and behind the aravels, to the right of the bonfire where Paivel is, when you're facing it from where you speak to the Keeper.

There are TWO main files. Choose ONLY ONE to install.
While testing the mod it was found that there was a distinct difference in how parts of the kiss looked based on whether or not you used the vanilla Tamlen morph.
There are significant changes in the jaw and chin structure of Tamlen's face that severely alters alignment in a kiss animation.
To prevent weird gaps or a few seconds of what looks like you're eating Tamlen's face (sexy!), I recommend you choose the file to install based on what morph you use.

Use the one marked for vanilla Tamlen if you use vanilla Tamlen.
Hair changes and makeup/skintones don't matter.
If you don't use vanilla Tamlen, install the other one.

If you want to try both to see what looks better for you, you can do that also.
You can only have ONE installed at a time.

Please note that your companion morphs and player morphs will always influence the alignment of any kiss,
so it may not look exactly like the pictures.

There will be clipping with the ears no matter what, especially with larger elf ears.
If you edit the starting armor of the Dalish elves, anything beside light or medium armor may cause clipping or block camera angles.

I added the baying Halla (calling for its mate) that you see in the beginning shot.
It's supposed to represent Mahariel's heartache as halla mate for life.

ased on where each halla loads into the pen when the Dalish camp map loads (it's random), there could be additional halla in the shot that was not intended. 
I did my best to prevent that by placing the shot in the back of pen.




Download and unzip the file.
Install with DAUpdater .

Choose only ONE main file. See the Notes section for an explanation of which file you should use.
If you have issues unzipping the file, I recommend downloading it again and trying to unzip it again.
If you use WinZip and you're having issues, try using 7zip instead.

To uninstall I recommend using a Mod Manager (like the one I linked above).
However you can also disable the mod in the game (under Downloadable Content) and then delete the folder "kiss_tamlen" from your Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/AddIns folder

To add Bellanaris via console command
download file under Optional, unzip and drop it into
.../Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/packages/core/override

In game open your console and type
runscript sc_give_bellanaris






This mod is completely compatible with all mods that edit Tamlen or the Dalish Elf Origin or add Tamlen as a companion later in the game.
There is a male and female version of the scene and it will work perfectly fine with any mods that make Tamlen romanceable for male elves.
