About this mod
This mod opens up the dialogue option that allows the Warden to activate a romance with Tamlen in the Dalish Elf Origin to male Wardens, and corrects a scripting error that caused Tamlen to refer to the Warden with the incorrect gender in the opening cutscene.
- Permissions and credits
After spending a long time searching for a mod that would let a male Mahariel romance Tamlen (as far as Tamlen is romanceable) and finding nothing, I wound up being the one to make the mod myself.
With this mod installed, the dialogue option "I wanted to be with you, of course" is available for male Wardens while the Warden and Tamlen are exploring the Elven Ruins. Dialogue triggered by this choice (Ashalle and Master Ilen's comments on the Warden and Tamlen's relationship, Tamlen's confession during the camp ambush) will occur for a male Warden as it normally would if a female Warden selected that dialogue option in the vanilla game. (Also, as a surprising bonus, none of the romance-specific dialogue contained any references to the Warden's gender, so no one will refer to a male Warden using this mod as female at any point).
This mod also fixes a scripting error in the opening cutscene that causes Tamlen to refer to a male Warden as "lethallan" and a female Warden as "lethallin," and opens the (originally male-only) dialogue option "I wanted to keep you out of trouble" up to female Wardens.
INSTALLATION
To use this mod, extract the files from the "Bi Tamlen + Opening Cutscene Dialogue Fix.zip" folder and place the files "bed100cr_tamlen.dlb" and "bed100cr_tamlen.dlg" in the override folder found at:
~\Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age\packages\core\override
This mod is not compatible with other mods that require those files to be overridden.
UNINSTALLATION
Remove "bed100cr_tamlen.dlb" and "bed100cr_tamlen.dlg" from the override folder.

UPDATE: 3/7/2018
Yeah, I wasn't really expecting this mod to update ever either, BUT I've learned a lot about modding on and off in the past few years and I realized I could add a few more tweaks to Tamlen's dialogue file that I couldn't on my first try. The biggest thing is that I spliced together the audio so that Tamlen Finally asks Mahariel if they were supposed to be working with Master Ilen instead of Master Varathorn. The audio is admittedly a little choppy, but I personally like it more than hearing the wrong name. The other change is that I removed the obscenely high Cunning requirement on one of the responses to Tamlen discussing Falon'Din. I think it's something like 30+? Way more than your Mahariel is likely to have at this point in the game unless you have a bunch of +Cunning DLC equipment or you're addin some points with that console. I appreciate what they were going for there, but I like to have another option that isn't Mahariel not knowing who Falon'Din is. All the other changes from the original version of the mod were carried over (compatibility stuff should be the same too, even with the new files! There's some random number stuff involved with the new audio though, so let me know if it's not!), and the original is also staying up for anyone who prefers the Varathorn line to my best go at audio editing.
Also!! Thanks for enjoying this mod over the past couple years! I'm not super active in modding DAO but I do check in every so often and it 1000% warms my heart when I see like... any reference to it whatsoever fklgjdflkgfd I hope you enjoy the new version too!
