I've only just come across this mod but I wanted to comment to say thank you very much for creating it. For me, it has always been the case that dwarves (male and female both) can and do grow beards to their own liking... The fact that all the female dwarves were so clean faced and in a way - human-like, just prickled the back of my mind. I've played through the whole of DAO, several times, but somehow I'd not associated just what was making my skin itch about *something* being wrong. Until now. Once again, thank you for the mod. It's making the game feel far more realistic to me. ((As realistic as a fantasy game with magic and dragons can feel!)) :D
Wile I myself would have been extremely giddy if there were longer beards and not just stubbles on the beautiful dwarven ladies, I am still very glad this mod exists. I've read why your mod doesn't do long bearded ladies, and honestly, mad respect even like it is. Already your capabilities exceed my own and I am grateful for the work you are doing. I literally ventured into the Nexus at 8:30 AM searching for some bearded dwarven women, because that is the honour they deserve, and not even five minutes later I find your mod which is what I wanted as quickly as it was possible and all I had to do for it was to type. Morning = made.
EDIT 3 minutes later: The mod works with Improved Ambience, so I am as happy as a clam. (How happy are clams anyway? I mean, the phrase implies that it is a lot, but where did the phrase come from?) Anyway, Orzammar looks like Jonathan Van Ness is trying to go undercover and failing spectacularly, which is amazing and I love for this!
It's absolutely possible, but it's not something I can make a mod for. You'll need to make a custom headmorph for your warden in the dao toolset, and then apply it to your character after you start the game. The toolset allows you to give stubble to characters of any race or gender, which is how I made this mod, and I've used it for my own dwarf wardens as well.
If you don't already have the dao toolset, you can find it in the downloads section of the DA Keep. If you don't know how to make a headmorph or apply it to your character, here's the tutorial that I originally used: https://whuffie.wordpress.com/2010/03/24/tutorial-dragon-age-toolset-head-morph-for-pc/. If you want to use the default dwarf noble or dwarf commoner tattoos, you'll need to manually plug UH_PCT_DN1_0T or UH_PCT_DC1_0T (or UH_TAT_DW1_0T (fourth channel) for just the basic casteless brand without the extra bits) into the tattoos section of the part selection tab.
Unfortunately, no. I don't have a lot of modding experience, and the only reason I was able to make this mod is because the dao toolkit made it very easy. There was no toolkit ever released for da2, and I don't have the skills or knowledge to do this kind of modding without that. In any case, iirc there are basically no female dwarves in da2 to begin with (besides maybe background npcs wandering near the merchants' guild).
The dao toolkit by default allows you to give stubble to any gender/race combination regardless of what's allowed in the in-game character creator, so all I had to do was edit the already existing headmorphs for the characters and add stubble. The longer beards have a set shape (which is why most face sliders are locked if you give a character a beard in the character creator), so I would have to edit the shape to fit a female headmorph myself, and then figure out a way to get the toolkit to let me give beards to female characters, all of which is outside the scope of my abilities. Believe me, I would love to be able to give female dwarves longer beards, but this is what I was able to do, and in any case it's in line with what was allowed in the da3 character creator.
yeah, accordig to Tolkien, female dwarvs also had beards. said by gimli himself. i imagined them with long beards too.. but still funny and nice tried ::
I've always wondered why it wasn't possible to give your lady dwarf a beard (at least w/o using the toolset anyway.) MOST fantasy novels I've read that contain dwarves mention females having beards, stubble at the very least! Some even go so far as saying "no dwarven lady worth her salt would be caught dead w/o a beard!" While I wouldn't go so far as that, I would say that I very much like the idea of it at least being an option! I just might get this mod... Thank you!
