About this mod
An extensive overhaul of various interlocking systems that comprise the combat of DAO
- Permissions and credits
Introducing Fereldon Stratagems. This is an extensive combat overhaulmod, which I hope, will become the spiritual successor to works such as
Weimer’s Tactics & DavidW's Sword Coast Strategems for Baldur’s Gate 2, Wu Min's Tactics mod for Icewind Dale 2, & finally Circle of Eight for
Temple of Elemental Evil. I’ve always thought DAO had an excellent foundation for what could be a truly deep Tactical RPG experience. Sadly this potential
was never met, for a variety of reasons. Fereldon Stratagems seeks to rectify this by …
---adding 25+ new AI templates distributed numerously throughout the entire of DAO proper each with …
--- their own ability selection that grows as they level, unshackled by level/prerequisite restrictions so they can come at you with more variety
earlier
--- their own tactics table, which include many custom conditions so they can take the fight to you more intelligently. Much more
intelligently.
--- handcrafting most encounters to increase difficulty in more interesting ways then simply increasing enemy stats and ability usage.
--- adding a brand new system where as your companions fall in battle they are replaced by a reserve party member. Never again will half your
recruits be useless in battle.
Installation:
This mod uses several mods as a foundation. The exclusion of any of the following will give a lesser experience, if it works at all, which it probably will not. These are all great mods. You shouldn't be playing DAO without them anyways.
--- Advanced Tactics by Anakin
--- Combat Tweaks (Needs EventManager patch) by Dennis Lee
--- Improved Atmosphere by Space Alex
--- Extra Dog Slot by Dheuster
So after making sure you have the above just unzip and drop my file into your override folder. To uninstall just delete the file.
I cannot overemphasize how much this mod changes. As Such it isn’t compatibly with
almost anything it was not built upon, excluding graphical mods. It changes almost
all core scripts …
