Applies the DA2 Elves mod by TMP to the DA:O elves without losing the variety of hair- and skin-colours they originally had.

TMP7704 did a great mod that brings the DA2 elven changes of facial structure and body type over into DA:O (available here). There's only one thing I didn't like about it; this included making all elves pale-skinned. And it missed a few elves, such as the elves in Lothering.

For this mod I used the facial-structure changes part of TMP's mod to re-edit 194 vanilla elven head morphs to match the DA2 facial structure, while retaining the original range of skintones and hair colours. The only hair changes have been to other vanilla hairs; I have modified the hair colours, tattoos and/or tattoo colours, skin colours and eye colours of a handful of elves (mainly to keep myself sane while making repetitive edits to 194 heads *twitches*).

In the process I also fixed three mages in the Mage Origin that were set up to be elves originally, but then put in-game as humans instead, to be elves after all. Mage elves represent!

Marethari and Merrill in the Dalish elf origin files have been edited to resemble their DA2 counterparts. This was reasonably successful with Marethari and not quite as good with Merrill.

These are basically every elf I could locate in the vanilla extract files, but DOES NOT include any of the elves in DLCs, for which I suggest you grab danexuslurker's excellent "Ferelden Elves" mod. There is some overlap between my mod and that one, and you'll need to decide which head morphs you'd rather use between the two of them (overlaps include Ostagar and Lothering files, Berwick in Redcliffe, possibly some others). Note that leaving both morphs in will not harm your game, all that will happen is that whichever loads last will be the one actually displayed.

INSTALLATION

1) Begin by downloading and installing the original "elf update" mod from http://social.bioware.com/project/4483/

2) Navigate to where the mod is installed and delete the following:
- da2_elf-morphs\morph-brecilian_forest
- da2_elf-morphs\morph-denerim
- da2_elf-morphs\morph-origin_city
- da2_elf-morphs\morph-origin_dalish
- da2_elf-morphs\morph-origin_noble
- da2_elf-morphs\morph-global - only the em_genfl_zevran.mor file, as my mod does not include an ef_gxa000fl_velanna.mor

3) extract the files for my mod into your My Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override\ directory or equivalent.

DEINSTALLATION

Delete the files.

OPTIONAL

I've also posted an optional file that contains all of the toolset mrh files to further edit these heads if you desire. These (and the final head morphs) are all arranged into the same directory structure they had in the "core and single player head morphs" file so if you want to work from the vanilla heads, they're easy to match up.

CHANGES

Feb 1, 2013 - an additional file that contains .utc files and some additional head edits to remove the helmets from several elves that appear in the Dalish origin and the Brecilian Forest. Note that these changes will *only* apply to elves whose areas you haven't already entered. Ie, if you load an existing Brecilian Forest camp save, the elves will have retained their existing helmets, but if you visit the Brecilian Forest camp for the first time, the helmets will not be there. This is due to a limitation with changing the inventory of already-encountered characters (visible armour is part of NPC inventory).

When installing this optional mod, delete the following files from the "Nature of the Beast" subdirectory, as this mod required additional edits to them to add hair (they were bald underneath the helmets), or copy the No Helmet files into that subdirectory in order to overwrite them:
- em_ntb100_male1.mor
- em_ntb100_male2.mor
- em_ntb200_hunter2.mor
- em_ntb200_hunter3.mor
- em_ntb200_hunter.mor

You will also need to remove the following subdirectory from TMP7704's original mod, as the changes in them will conflict with the changes in this mod:
- da2_elf-morphs\addon-utc

Note that this No Helmets mod also changes the head of the male elf sitting on the bench near Sarel; that head morph was previously shared by three elves in camp (the two gate guards and this elf) and I've now given him a head morph of his own. The gate guards have remained twins as there's no easy way to change them as well due to the way they've been set up.

I've also included the new head morph and the edited head morph files for toolset as an additional optional download.
