Tried installing it using Mod Manager AND with DAUPdator (as instructed by creator). Not only is the mod NOT working, but hard crashes my game I can't load in after the menu screen, at all. Remove mod - no problems.
Don't have anything else that effects loot tables or looting at all as far as mods go, so I don't think there's a conflict causing the crash upon save-game load.
Installed the mod midgame and have no visible skill so it doesn't work for me. Is there any possibility to turn it on? It's installed via DAO mod manager and shown as installed in-game
It's been a couple of weeks but in case you still need the info (or someone else might)... I used the DAUpdater.exe to install the mod (found in C:\Program Files\EA Games\Dragon Age\bin_ship). In game, it shows up as a new section in your Skills list.. just drag the gold coin to your character's spell bar and click that to have your group run around and grab the loot.
Someone posted in 2010 a solution that I just adapted slightly: -Go to your Documents/Bioware/DragonAge folder and search for a file called AddIns.xml -make a backup from that file -open the file with Notepad or Text-Editor or something similar -search for the line Name="Auto Loot" ExtendedModuleUID="Single Player" -copy the whole line starting from </AddInItem> and paste it below the first line -in the copied line, change "Single Player" to "DAO_PRC_EP_1" -save the file and enjoy the mod in Awakening
It should look like this after you copied and changed the lines: </AddInItem> <AddInItem UID="mod_auto_loot" Name="Auto Loot" ExtendedModuleUID="Single Player" Priority="100" Enabled="1" State="2" Format="1"> </AddInItem> <AddInItem UID="mod_auto_loot" Name="Auto Loot" ExtendedModuleUID="DAO_PRC_EP_1" Priority="100" Enabled="1" State="2" Format="1">
Just wanted to drop in and say "thank you!" for this info. Looks like doing it this way (adding the second auto loot line for Awakening) means I don't have to go back and change the .xml if I want to switch between games. Awesome!
1 First in your setting directory of dragon age usually located something like Cocuments and SettingsusernameMy DocumentsBioWareDragon AgeSettings
there is a file called AddIns.xml. Make a backup copy of it.It very important because if you edit it and make a mistake you mods will messed up.Also it seems not to work with single player after the editing. However editting it back should fix it.
2 open the AddIns.xml with windows notepad.I had ploblems editing it with my version of microsoft office as well as open office.
3 use edit menu use find search text is auto. You should text look like Name="Auto Loot" ExtendedModuleUID="Single Player"
change the ExtendedModuleUID="Single Player" to ExtendedModuleUID="DAO_PRC_EP_1"
Save it.To use autoloot in non awakening change the line back.
The autoloot mod is one of my favorites mods.I have recently found out how to change so it works in awakening.Not sure if there ploblem using it in awakening so be warned.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD. WILL SOFT LOCK YOUR GAME CANNOT UNINSTALL ONCE INSTALLED!!! It will remove quest markers from being tracked as well so you dont even know where to go Plus the modder NEVER responds on these comments neither. I wish i read more of the comments before installing this now i gotta start completely over. I noticed this once I had to get the key from the Redcliff Caslte to save Alina and the key was no where to be found. Also i started to notice no matter what quest i picked ther was no quest marker. I turned the mod off via the Downloadable Content window you unckeck it in there, and I started new game now all my markers are back on the map.
I have never had such an issue, nor have the vast majority of users. If it was really such an issue, you would see it being talked about on a grand scale.
>CANNOT UNINSTALL ONCE INSTALLED
I've uninstalled it multiple times without issue using the DAO Mod Manager.
You most likely have another mod that was conflicting with it, and instead of doing your due diligence, you just turned to outright lying about this mod.
How do you install this for Awakening? It doesn't seem to work. I am playing the Steam build and not on Ultimate edition even though I have it. I am just playing it on the "Dragon Age: Origins" version with Awakening installed that can be accessed inside "Dragon Age: Origins". Auto Loot worked fine when I was in Origins, but not in Awakening.
1.Look for your addins.xml file in Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings 2.Open it with any notepad or something 3. Look for line: <AddInItem UID="mod_auto_loot" Name="Auto Loot" ExtendedModuleUID="Single Player" Priority="100" Enabled="1" State="2" Format="1"> And change it to <AddInItem UID="mod_auto_loot" Name="Auto Loot" ExtendedModuleUID="dao_prc_ep_1" Priority="100" Enabled="1" State="2" Format="1">
The auto loot skills should now appear in your game.
Okay, it's an essential mod but can be buggy indeed.
Make sure to quicksave every so often since, for example, there is a locked room in Redcliffe Castle which you cannot access until progressing the quest in that area but your team will get stuck in animation of trying to get into that room if you press autoloot nearby before having the right key.
Another point, autoloot can mess up some quests being checked as completed. Return to Ostagar will not complete if you picked up parts of Cailan's armor using autoloot. You will need to complete the dlc for Warden's Keep since it provides access to a chest which you can not only take from, but put into as well, and you'll have to put all parts of Cailan's armor there, then take them out again for the quest to complete.
You may and likely will aggro half the dungeon in dungeons since you can press autoloot in one room but the game will find something in another room behind the wall, and make your character run there even though they have to circle around half the dungeon to get to that other room.
It is indeed annoying how you lose control of your character and have to watch them run forth and back and forth again without being able to stop them manually. I found a workaround: have a mod which allows you to have your dog as the 5th team member https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/664 and use autoloot as that dog. You will keep control of the dog while other team members are running around collecting loot for you.
upd: if your team is indeed stuck in the attempt to loot a locked room, but you are able to control at least one character, go exit the location. Thankfully, you don't need to 'gather all your allies' to do that. Your team will go back to normal. And I don't mean a different point on the map, I mean a different part of the dungeon you are in, different floor in the Tower, etc.
This can cause a softlock because of how it steals control from the player. You can't take back control until the loot has finished, meaning if there's something that can't be looted but the script thinks it can, it ends up in an infinite loop of walking back and forth trying to reach the loot and failing... I've softlocked in Redcliffe castle because there's a weapon rack behind a locked door, and I don't have any other lockpicking characters...
Also, there's seemingly an issue where loot vanishes? I've clicked auto loot near lootable bodies only for the loot to disappear without me getting anything.

Doh! Oh well.
-Go to your Documents/Bioware/DragonAge folder and search for a file called AddIns.xml
-make a backup from that file
-open the file with Notepad or Text-Editor or something similar
-search for the line Name="Auto Loot" ExtendedModuleUID="Single Player"
-copy the whole line starting from </AddInItem> and paste it below the first line
-in the copied line, change "Single Player" to "DAO_PRC_EP_1"
-save the file and enjoy the mod in Awakening
It should look like this after you copied and changed the lines:
</AddInItem>
<AddInItem UID="mod_auto_loot" Name="Auto Loot" ExtendedModuleUID="Single Player" Priority="100" Enabled="1" State="2" Format="1">
</AddInItem>
