For those who have never used an XBox controller with a PC game that didn't already have built-in support, (which none of the BioWare games do): THIS IS NOT A STAND-ALONE file.
This is one player's game profile ("settings") used to make Xpadder work with DA:O.
Xpadder is a utility program to map mouse+keyboard input to the XBox hardware. You'll need to have Xpadder already loaded on your PC to do anything with this, and it DOESN'T "install" with NMM, (or DAMM, or DAM, or DAUpdater, or anything else to do with DA:O.) See the Readme for XPadder to learn how to use it!
Honestly I was going to play this game, spent all night installing it. Come to find out hteres no controller support like for inquisition. Welp I guess I'll never play this game, not going to settle on an Xpadder experience where I have to use my analog stick to move the mouse. I'd rathr play GW2 if thats the case.
It works!! The only major issue I'm having is there doesn't seem to be a way to select an enemy and fire? You still have to use the cursor to select the enemy (I'm playing an archer) but... there's no way to move the cursor. You just kind of have to move the screen around and hope the cursor will land on the enemy. Which doesn't really work on moving enemies... (by the way, I'm using the second option, "console profile" because I'm used to playing the game on 360).
One more tiny problem, it likes to auto-select things. For example, it keeps auto-selecting "destroy" when I'm looking at my inventory o.O Or it auto-selects me to move forward, or to click on my companion. (By the way, can't figure out how to cycle through companions so was just using the mouse.)
Can anyone tell me how DA:O feels with a controller on PC compared to console?
I've already got it on PS3 and although it's tempting to play again with mods on PC I've found that most of the time, the emulators generally work but feel like crap and aren't worth the hassle of setting it all up.
It's a little weird due to the whole "can only map some of my abilities and now can't just click them all" thing, but if that doesn't bother you nothing else should
I can't get this to work at all. Every time I load up DA only keyboard commands are available. I downloaded thru Nexus & activated it but nothing is happening...all the other mods I've used work fine. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have for what I'm doing wrong.
HI and Thank you for your work. I have a problem. I am using Xpadder 5.3 the free one. I have downloaded both with Modman and manually. But neither works in any way I have tried. When I try to open the file with Xpadder it cant even see the file. Any help please? I have even tried putting the buttons/sticks in myself but the camera look has some really strange issues. And It would be great if I could just use your profile directly. Thank again.
Thanks dude! It's now possible for me to play while reclining haha. Xpadder crossed my mind before, but I couldn't figure out how to map it efficiently.
I figure this post is dead but Pinnacle Game Profiler always crashes on me on launch. Doesnt even load up. I get a typical "(insert product here) has stopped responding." I figure there is a fix that I havent found but Xpadder definitely does not crash on me and its CPU-friendly.
