Hah, those are hilarious together indeed. Even more so if your Warden is a girl and romances Alistair. They often have me rolling in aisles. I also like to take Alistair, Wynne and Zevran or Sten and Leliana together. Well, I guess there are many nice combinations.
I confess to never have played with Sten much, he seemed too boring, never having many options of dialogue with me... maybe because I didn't take him too bad enough :x I also like to take Morrigan or Leliana, in place of Oghren, or Alistair
I admit I pretty much always take Alistair as a fellow Grey Warden and since he's hilarious and nice. Then the set-up differs from Warden to Warden. With my mage I drag Sten and Leliana around and they are really fun together in the banters as Leliana keeps teasing him for being a "big softie". You're right though that Sten is really stoic and might be boring to some. I'm quite interested in such characters and must admit that there's a lot to learn about Sten once you start taking him with you (then you can ask him about something he has mentioned during your travels) and he's even funny and cute at times. Shocking. Well, every character is interesting in their own way. Morrigan is a fascinating character and I really like her, but she's a bit too conflicting for my tastes so I don't take her so often. Sometimes I wish I could take the whole camp.
