As surprising as it may sound, it wasn't. Coincidentally though I stumbled upon the original red design on Artstation during an ID artist following spree of mine yesterday. Honestly a red, Immoran-themed armor makes the most sense and I believe both me and Emerson Tung had this idea for the same reasons, but the final blue armor is better for clarity in gameplay.
Sure, on it EDIT: Actually that's not possible (at least currently), the textures for the armor itself are stored in a single file that affects every Armored Baron everywhere, regardless of the dlc and/or the level. Sorry man
