About this mod

My overhaul to the Slayer's mechanics to provide an action-packed playthrough. This is intended to make the game more chaotic. I 100% recommend playing this with Enemy Randomizer, there shouldn't be any compatibility issues.

Features, Tweaks, and Changes


General:
  • Move 20% faster at all times
  • Chainsaw reloads up to 2 fuel tanks by itself, at a slightly faster rate
  • Chainsaw cost of some demons reduced to 2
  • Dash refill slightly reduced to 750ms (with perk)
  • Ledge grab speed moderately increased (with perk)
  • Melee damage restored, falters fodder and destroys tentacles
  • Dash damage restored, destroys fodder and sends them flying
  • Movement speed unaffected while charging Arbalest and Destroyer
  • Movement speed unaffected while using Chaingun
Weapons:
  • Switch weapons and mods 20% faster
  • Recoil for some rapid-fire weapons reduced
  • Fire rate of Chaingun, Rocket Launcher, and Plasma Cannon slightly increased
  • Fire rate of Assault Rifle and Mobile Turret noticeably increased
  • Full-Auto Shotgun mod fires 25% faster
  • Sticky Bomb preparation zoom is 50% faster
  • Sticky Bomb overheat recovery reduced
  • FOV and sensitivity unrestricted while firing Full-Auto
  • Reload of the Super Shotgun is faster after mastery is achieved
  • Super Shotgun now can shoot twice before reload at mastery
  • Precision bolt reload speed is decreased to 800ms from 1200ms
  • Precision bolt aims 33% faster
  • Faster Destroyer blade charge
  • Faster Arbalest charge
  • Removed Arbalest zoom and mouse restriction
  • Rocket damage slightly increased depending on what mod you're using
  • Rockets produce knockback, allowing you to rocket jump
Equipment:
  • Cooldown of Flame Belch, Frag Grenade, and Ice Bomb are reduced
  • Carry a lot more ammo once at max ammo capacity level
  • More ammunition from pickups
  • More ammunition from Full-Auto mastery
  • More ammo falls from demons after Chainsaw kills
  • Get 5 BFG Ammo from Fodder chainsaw kills
  • Get 10 BFG Ammo from Heavy chainsaw kills
  • Get 15 BFG Ammo from Super Heavy glory kills
  • Hammer charges one half on weak point break
  • Hammer charges one third on glory kill, burning kill, and frozen kill
  • Hammer charges two thirds on chainsaw kill
  • Hammer charges one half on pickup
  • Hammer charges one third per blood punch kill
  • Hammer charges one half on headshot kill
  • Hammer falters demons for 1 more second
  • Hammer deals slightly more damage
  • Reveal radius increased even further with perk
Survival:
  • Armor upgrades now add 50 points per upgrade, maxing out at 200
  • Armor and health pickups give more, scales for difficulty
  • Survive longer in toxic water once perk is unlocked
  • Increased Frag Grenade, Ice Bomb, and Sticky Bomb radius
  • Increased Frag and Cluster Bomb damage
  • Increased Ice Bomb duration
  • Barrels respawn 4 seconds faster and drop more ammo
  • Reduced self-damage of rocket launcher
  • Overdrive player speed increased by 10%
  • Overdrive weapon/mod switch increased by 10%
  • Overdrive weapon fire rate increased by 20%
  • Onslaught player damage increased by 30%
  • Berserk movement speed increased by 10%
  • Berserk damage resistance increased by 20%
  • Killing an enemy adds 3 seconds to power-ups instead of 1
  • Power-up kill scaling reduced
  • Power-up duration increased by 5 seconds
  • Power-up max kills increased from 10 to 100
Runes:
  • Glory kill speed increased further, even with the rune equipped
  • Speed Boost Glory Kill rune speed reduced from 175% to 170%
  • Speed Boost Glory Kill rune duration increased from 4 seconds to 6 seconds
  • Demons stagger moderately longer with rune unlocked
  • Chrono Strike's maximum duration doubled
  • Chrono Strike's slowdown effect reduced from 30% to 45%
  • Chrono Strike cooldown reduced from 20 seconds to 5 seconds
  • Mouse sensitivity unaffected during Chrono Strike (finally)
  • Focus on Death duration increased by a few seconds
  • Blood Punch Upgrade support rune now activates at 125 health
  • Extra Life support rune duration lasts a bit longer depending on the demon


Installation and Editing

Customisation:
  • Unzip my mod
  • You will see three folders before you
  • Open gameresources_patch2 and look through the folders
  • Look for a file that is named with the mechanic you want to change or delete (use common sense - they are pretty well named)
  • If you cannot find the right-looking file, look in gameresources_patch1
  • If you still can't find the right file, look in gameresources
  • Always search patch2, then patch1, then the base folder, because the patch folders overrule the base folder
  • Once you find the file, delete it, then look through the other two gameresources folders and delete the same file (or edit it, for advanced users)
  • Example: To remove the double shot feature for the Super Shotgun, find double_barrel_mastery.decl inside gameresources_patch1 (you have to do a bit of searching within child folders - or use the Find tool), and delete it, also deleting the same file (if it exists) from the other two gameresources folders (only delete the same file from the same child folder - lots of files have the same name in different categories)

Installation:
  • Check the Doom Modding Discord
  • Download my zip file and put it in your mods folder
  • Make sure you aren't playing in Multiplayer
  • Use "Equip All Runes" mod for extra fun (included in the optional files page)
