About this mod

Reworks the Combat Shotgun's "Explosive Shot" mod so that it functions like Doom Eternal's "Sticky Bombs" mod.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
The Explosive Shot's projectile has been changed from detonating on impact, to a timed explosive that attaches to any enemy or surface. A short beep will play when the sticky bomb is primed. Up to three shots (five if mastered) can be fired back-to-back before reloading. The crosshair has been changed to show a heat meter, giving a visual representation of how many shots can be fired and the reload progress.

Note that you can still fire the explosive shot even if there is less than 1/3 (or 1/5 depending on mastery) of the heat bar remaining. Additionally, when reloading from empty (the heat bar turns red), you will be unable to to use the shotgun's primary fire. These two issues, while not intended, appear to be side effects of how I implemented the heat system, and I am currently unable to find a solution for them.

This mod succeeds my previous "More Shots for Explosive Shot" mod, and as such the two mods are not compatible.

Demo:



Stats:
  • 50 damage on direct impact, non-lethal (ie. you cannot kill with the direct impact itself)
  • 450 splash damage, occurs after detonation
  • 50 unit inner radius and 100 unit outer radius for the splash
  • 500ms fuse that counts down once it impacts a surface or an enemy
  • Automatically reloads (begins cooling) 1000ms after the last sticky bomb fired
  • 400ms delay between firing sticky bombs and being able to use the primary fire
  • Reloads (heat bar decrements) at a rate of 33%/second, resulting in an empty reload time of 3000ms
  • A seek cone of 20 degrees has been given to the sticky bomb to give some lenience with accuracy (ie. if a shot misses a demon within 20 degrees, it will course correct and try to attach itself to the demon)

Reworked Upgrades:

Speedy Recovery
Old: Reduces recharge time
New: Eliminates the delay between firing sticky bombs and the primary fire (400ms -> 0ms)

Bigger Boom
Old: Increases explosion size
New: Increases the sticky bomb's explosion size by 50% (outer radius 100 units -> 150 units)

Instant Load
Old: Removes loading time
New: Reloads 20% faster, resulting in an empty reload time of 2500ms (heat bar now decrements at 40%/second)

Cluster Strike - Mastery
Old: Getting a direct hit will spawn cluster bombs
New: Fire up to five shots back-to-back before reloading

Additional Notes:
  • In-game text has not been changed to reflect the mod's changes
  • The "units" mentioned are unknown, but based on rough comparisons between 2016 and Eternal, a single "unit" is looks to be approximately 1/60th of a meter.
